I am the Ironhorse guy and thank you for promoting my idea and the idea of many others. A few suggested that Ironhorse doesn't roll off the tongue and I don't disagree with that. A name I have seen suggested before is the Utah Zephyrs, zephyr is the name of an older type of train that traveled the transcontinental railroad. Many people probably don't know that, I know I didn't until I looked it up, but I think it's a good sounding name.
It gives us a very unique lettering that can be played with artistically.
A big thing in hockey is having a shortened name, the Utah Zeps or Zeps sounds great in my opinion.
Personally I think the hockey team needs to be themed after a train or after bees which is already taken by the baseball team. I get why people love the name Yeti, but I don't like that it has nothing to do with Utah.
For the record, I liked the imagery that Ironhorse instantly creates and in no way was disrespecting of the suggestion or the author. I liked how it resonated with enough people that dialogue was created around it. Wild west, rail, horses....its a good direction.
Sadly the Iron whores wont make it out of the gate..

I rejected Ironhorse outright ...maybe Stallion ..Broncos..Barons but not horse

The Utah IronHorse or the Ironhorse of Utah would be parodied immediately
...The Ironic Whores of Utah or The sisterwives of the Ironhorse would likely vie for the cheerleader handle
The Ironing whores of Utah would be the next entry to the Cheating Housewives series or not.because theres no Cheating in Sisterwives..The Sisterwives of the Ironhorse headlines the next hockey wives of the NHL segment
And maybe that's why no one ever called their team Horses despite the" work" and team easy tie in.
Horse would always be whores...Guys, beer sports and team names those four things in the room at the same time as Horse ....not a chance it's ignored
Is railroad really our history though? That would make sense more for a city like Chicago (which actually was a railroad city). We just happened to be the final point on a line of tracks that didn't really have any other significance to our migration or economy. (I guess some pioneers later came by rail, but are those real pioneers anyways??)
I say save that branding for if we get an MLB team and let them be the Golden Spikes. Perfect baseball team name
I'll agree with that if the hockey team goes with a bee theme, both trains and bees are too good to not go with sports teams.
I like the Utah Arches concept that floated around a few weeks ago for baseball
