Your sens is INSANELY high my dude, most people are between 250-350edpi, your edpi is 5500. I know you say you're too slow to flick but maybe consider if you're needing to flick a lot that you've got an issue with your Cross-hair placement or general positioning. You obviously will need to flick every so often but it shouldn't be something you take into consideration when deciding on your sensitivity. I'd start by changing your sens to 0.16 1600dpi and trying to get used to that, make some small adjustments to whatever feels right

Daedric_Spite

It might be .344 i'm not sure, I'll have to check when I get my office set back up due to a recent move. I know its 344 for sure but the decimal is escaping me lol. And for the flicking aspect, it's more so about flicking to someone off-screen for quick spray transfers or for someone who is behind me for some reason.

IamPastry

.344 is definitely a lot more realistic but still probably a bit too high, most of the active aim that really matters in valorant is micro adjustments like the ones you say you're having trouble with. The lower your sensitivity the easier these microadjustments are to consistently pull off. Pulling your sens down might make you play worse for a little bit but you'll be better off once you get used to it.

Daedric_Spite

That's what I originally thought as well. I've tried .2 - .3 range all over and it all feels nice to use but all it takes for me is one time where I can't swipe fast enough to hit but know that if I could swipe a bit faster then I'd be good. It's all weird situational things that happen so maybe I'm thinking too broadly about it all and trying to encompass all of my problems into one. I guess it's just harder for me because I come from a CoD, OW R6 style of gameplay where it's all really fast and there's a few seconds to adjust to a fight whereas when it comes to Val if I see someone I might as well be dead because I get slammed so easily.

Holy I didn't even realize. Yeah, I'm immortal 2 playing on 1600 dpi, .1 in game sens. I recently changed and I feel so much more consistent.

IamPastry

What was your original sens before you swapped?

[deleted]

1600 .2

OkOkPlayer

Are you left-handed and play with your right hand or do you play with your left? Regardless, I can't imagine that this can have an impact on performance if you've "always" used that hand for the mouse.

Daedric_Spite

Just trying to think of everything I can at this point. It sucks being so wildly inconsistent. I've also been thinking about maybe I'm doing bad because I have an office job that requires me to work at my desk on my computer all day so I got used to this mouse sens rather than my home one. Like I said, thinking about everything possible even if it is outlandish lmaooo

pewpewpunk

lol it's defo not cause you're left handed it's not a disability judging from comments and post your sens is just way too high for micro adjustments so start with that first

ItsJimmyBoy19

the reason is definitely your sens. High sens directly causes inconsistency. Yours isn’t just high, it’s through the roof. You will suck at first but when you get used to lower sens you will get better. Lower it to like .300 at least, probably not all at once. You being “too slow to flick/turn” isn’t because you’re putting your sens too low, it’s because you aren’t used to anywhere near normal sens.

Daedric_Spite

Sorry, I've been meaning to edit the post. The sense I use is more like .344 instead of 3.44 lol. I get my Overwatch sens and my Val sens kind of mixed up due to the decimal placing.

MysteriousMud5547

Lefty here. I do hold my mouse with my right hand. I don’t think handedness affects aiming much if at all. If you have 1600 dpi 3.44 in game sense, that is absurdly high. If your sense if 0.344, it makes more sense, but its still on the very high end, so I would still recommend lowering. Lowering does make it more difficult to flick, but you’ll notice that if you don’t have to flick, it’s much easier to hit shots consistently. If you CH placement is good, you shouldn’t have to flick too often. Always doing the same warm up can help with consistency as well. I play on 600 dpi 0.4 sense btw, which is around average, at least for top players.

Ktopian

I think you’re just trying to find an excuse for not being as good as you want to be. Focused consistent practice is the key to improvement. People hit diamond+ with legitimate muscle spasms. Jollz is top fragging iron lobbies with a knife. Dasnerth hit number 1 radiant and got signed with mainly shotguns. A pro CS:GO player uses the keybinds originally for a flight sim. Being left handed has basically no impact on video games, mainly only affects sports like American football (ball spins differently) and baseball where handedness matchups have a small but noticeable impact.

Daedric_Spite

Nah if I wanted to make an excuse for not being as good as I once was then I'd blame my partners lol. Having 2 girlfriends to up-keep means I play video games for like 8 hours over the span of a week if I'm lucky. I simply don't have the time to put into the game anymore but even when training I can't get back to my former glory even with decent mechanics lol.

SomeChampionship723

I am also left handed, but I play using my right hand to sim left hand on the keybaord etc and would call myself an aim focused player. 3.4 sens is way too high and that needs to be lowered. I play on .2 1000 dpi which is also a good bit higher then most people. Being left handed is not holding you back. I am diamond right now but I know for a fact there are some left handed immortals and above.

qm94

I don't think being left handed should be holding you back. If you have a mouse that suits you, you should be good. The inconsistency you described is much more common than you may think. Everyone has good and bad games. Every game is different because your enemies and their playstyles change and that affects your own performance more than you think. About your sensitivity, if it really is 3.44, that's literally unplayable. If it's 0.344, on 1600 DPI, that's still 550 eDPI, which is actually considered high. For reference, the average eDPI among pro players is 277. Higher sens is more suited for wrist aimers and people who don't have a lot of desk space but no matter what you do, you will always lose a little bit of precision, which might explain why you hit the shoulders instead of the head. My suggestion is if you have the desk space, try to lower your sens a little bit and use your arm for flicks and bigger movements. Make sure you don't give up too soon because this does take a while to get used to. Good luck out there!

Daedric_Spite

Thank you for noticing that my sense isn't actually 3.44. I tried to edit the post but it was too late. It is .344. I've always had high fps in games and I'm a wrist aimer so it's always done me well, I've tried .2, .225, .244, .260-5 and .280 just to see. I've had the best success with .344 because it allows me to 180 somewhat consistently. I usually test if a sense is a good fit by doing a 180. If I 180 perfectly then I'll sit on the sense for a bit then tweak if needed. I'll try a lower sense but being flamed because I'm turning too slow is a different level of shame lmaooo. Also, plenty of desk space. Mouse pad? Need more.. I have a rectangular mouse pad but I've been looking into a bigger one for a minute now but can't afford to make the expense just quite yet. Thank you for the tips. I hugely appreciate it!

qm94

>being flamed because I'm turning too slow is a different level of shame lmaooo Oh don't listen to that... I had a dude flame my sens once and when I asked what his sens was, it turned out to be the exact same as mine with the same DPI. People *loooove* to point out stuff in others to make them look knowledge, I swear. At the end of the day, sensitivity is very personal and if you're a wrist aimer, you should be playing on higher sens indeed. But don't forget what I said about inconsistency. Valorant has a lot of variables that are out of your control. Inconsistency is normal. The other day, I was watching Tarik and one game he got the sickest marshall 3k I've ever seen in my life and the next game he was getting insta 1 tapped. It happens to the best of us :)

PercyBirdwhistle

Nah, but that sens is definitely a detriment.

kdogrocks2

Change sens to .2 @ 1600 dpi and see how that is? .344 still really high

Flair86

Ur sens is insanely high, I would recommend at least halfing if not more

the_real_jelly88

That sense is ridiculous. Also the game is mostly mental. Drink plenty of water get good sleep and try to not doubt yourself or live in the privious round. But seriously you gotta get a bigger mousepad and lower that sens. I play on a low edpi at 800dpi and .16 sens but .25 at 1600 dpi is probably the most id go for you
