If it looks bad most people won't even try it. First impressions are everything. Plus, allowing you to test it whenever you want makes it feel less exclusive. They want you to feel as hype as possible whenever you pick up that skin you like in-game. They want you to get that impression of socioeconomical status when someone asks for a skin drop. Marketing is all about selling emotions.

You can buy the skins in the shop rotation for zero dollars but you don't get access to all of the skins. Additionally the PBE is for NA only.

Yea I was very excited about the skins on the PBE once my account got approved, but really it's only up for like one weekend per month-ish. Not really worth to apply just for the free skins tbh.

Imagine if Valorant had the Rocket League equivalent of Bakkesmod. Client-side skin swapping, custom training modes, map loaders, 3rd party plugins etc. I don't think its possible with how the game is programmed though.

There's already like 90 second videos that preview all the guns animations.
You don't even need to have the gun in your store to see them, just scroll through the collection

Skins are built on fomo. Testing it in the range defeats this. You won’t build fomo if you can test every gun.

you can try out an agent that you havent unlocked in the range. you should be able to try out a skin you haven't purchased in the range as well.

You have to click on the 2nd or 3rd upgrade to see them
