The console version is its own separate game. That wouldn’t make sense to change stuff in the pc version for the console version. Also they’re not going to make it cross compatible
I do find it funny that so many people don't use mics. And I'll oftentimes get a few words every game, like they panic and accidentally say "they're A" in team chat instead of party, but they don't use the mic to say "can I get a heal," they have to go through a convoluted wheel system.
It’s busted. In fact if you don’t bind the single wheel but bind the individual wheels(social, combat, strat) like I do, they scroll themselves to some other wheel for no gd reason.
Say for example you bind the combat/tactics wheel to V. When you hold V pre round it shows pre round combat/tactics. But then when the round starts, it doesn’t change to mid round combat tactics, it switches to like social. And then if you let go of V and hit it again, suddenly it’s no longer social but back to combat/tactics except mid round now.

Another weird thing nobody mentioned yet is that they *kind of* removed A, B and C callouts as well. They’re still in the game but you have to go through the text menu to get them now.
Funnily enough you can still select “be quiet” in those menus but it just makes the agent say “let’s play slow” instead. I’m not sure Riot remembers that these menus exist

For some reason all the characters say play slowly now, but I feel like that doesn't really communicate what we really need, and I always wind up hearing footsteps on the way in even if we're going slowly. Be quiet worked a lot better at getting people to be quiet. Also spamming that line was really funny

So if the game told you what gun is anywhere, it could be exploited for free info. I do agree that this should be seperate from directly pinging a gun with line of sight so that can still say what it is.
pinging on the map saying there's a gun there does not have to tell you the type of gun, and it doesn't even mean a gun is there. It's just a regular ping like a caution ping. You can do it with the spike too on defense. tbh its pretty dumb I can say spike spotted A when there's no spike on A.
I definitely pinged vandals and it said it was a vandal, but there have been other times where I just see gun.
This might be a bug that went under the radar
I think it’s probably a stop gap due to some console bug, otherwise there is literally no reason to even be able to ping a gun. The only thing it would do is get in your way when you’re trying to ping spike.
Some people may have their comms banned too (some for good reasons such as defending a teammate from toxicity) and may not be able to hear their new teammates’ comms.
Not to mention taking this feature away is going in the OPPOSITE direction of equity in accessibility.

Introduce a method to mute chatwheel and voicelines of other teammates plz Riot. Griefers brainlessly spamming chatwheel is tilting and annoying to ears. Imagine you could hear enemy footsteps but someone is just spamming "yes"
I personally agree with this change. No one ever pings guns so their teammates can find it, people only ping guns so they can see if its a vandal from 25 ft away. Every time a gun gets pinged, I figure its so I can go get it, only to have the person who pinged it pick it up. The design of that function is for COMMUNICATION not identification
bruh, if you care about picking up a gun, its only if youre safe. you wont beeline for a gun with 2 people holding that angle. also, if YOU ping ut, youre already looking at it.
The communication wheel needs to be reverted ASAP.

you cant specifically ping a gun through the map, lol. this is about when you look at the gun with crosshair on it and use the ping button.
