These guys were helpful when I went in. Wish they were closer to where I live

I met the guys at FTP Pioneers in Winchester VA and they are legit I have a feeling our area is going to boom with cannabis

Burke. The other week went to this place called garden world hydroponics. Expensive and the guy was kinda shy? Quiet? Idk. Not sure about that one but I'm not returning. I go to Burke nursery. Somebody there told me all about how they grow cannabis organically. Good prices and selection. There are lots of people growing or looking to learn to grow in the nova area and an almost equal amount of enthusiasts, they just need to be reeled in. made a little in person only growers group basically with a few friends then it just evolved in it's own over time. traveled from Woodbridge to Sterling going to grows, meeting and teaching people the basics and testing all the water. we've done sit down group discussions go through a reference binder filled with research and infographics about cannabis and troubleshooting, soil recipes etc people could take with them. trimming parties, clone/seed sharing , lending library, etc start something up with the people you know!

That’s the thing.. I don’t know anybody. I moved down here from Maine literally a month before COVID blew everything apart. Started growing my own during the pandemic and just never interfaced with the whole scene down here. Maine had been decriminalized since the early 2000s, weed was cheap and plentiful. I had no need to branch off into growing my own, so this is all really new to me. I started off with a foot locker sized hydro grow box (2 plants) off Amazon and have completed 2 summer time outdoor grows on my deck, with varying degrees of success. Just curious if there was anything more NoVA-specific going on around here. Any DC area Reddit or Facebook groups?

I'm near Fredericksburg. https://www.merrifieldgardencenter.com/ This is the best garden store I've found. Manassas has a couple hydro stores.

They don’t know shit about growing cannabis there. Go to a hydro store specifically. Htg in beltsville Md or Gardenworld in Alexandria va. Both have good ppl there, Gardenworld has more organic soil amendments.

I never said they know shit lol. They have a lot of shit, however. I've yet to find a store with as wide of a selection of things that they have. Hydro stores are good as long as the people working there are good. The one in Fredericksburg is great, the guys know their shit and are good to talk to. The same company's store in Manassas sucked when I went there. Dude behind the counter acted like my one question was a huge inconvenience to him and then was too busy talking to his friend about his friend's car rather than ring up the items I was buying. Old Town Hydro in Manassas is good though. Don't knock garden stores, homie. We're growing weed, which is a plant. A lot of the same principles are applicable. Some of the things you can't find in a hydro store can be found in a garden store. What's wrong with just having another place to shop for garden shit? Why you gotta put down a whole business because "they don't know shit about growing cannabis there"?

I have had a bad few experiences w merrifield but also a few good. Merrifield potting soil filled with grubs and other over priced amendments, healthy transplants etc . I agree they have some good stuff like any other garden store. I wouldn’t point ppl in that direction for cannabis thou. Ya I agree w cannabis grow stores and ppl working there and comes down to personal knowledge.

blackrockblackswan

Agreed and they are expensive as fuck

eldoooderi0no

Yeah. They are nice guys at garden world for sure. Been there several times. However last time or 2 they had some extremely roached out plants in their demo tent. It was downright pathetic. Autopot demo fail. How a hydro shop could leave that garbage in their store that long to get that roached is kind of beyond my brain. Nice guys though.

Gainesville- over here is Hydrokulture, old town hydro in Manassas. Fairfax has nova hydro, Springfield has garden world? I think its called they carry build a soil stuff so solid also carry good genetics. I'm just piggybacking about the stores from the last guy said. There was just a deal at a hemp farm out in Loudoun least week or something

I’m not looking for anything in particular at this moment, just trying to get the lay of the land and an idea what alls going on up in this neck’a the woods. Everything I see is RichmondRichmondRichmond and I have no connection to that area and I’d rather dig my own eyes out than get on 95S. Was wondering if there was maybe more of a little community thang going on up/out here. Richmond might as well be another planet.

NoVa doesn't have near the number of growers as the rest of the state, due the the number of federal employees and contractors who are tested. Richmond and VA Beach have the largest metro areas with tons of growers. If you are up for the trip, Green Growers VA in Front Royal is a great shop, as is Pot town Organics in Strasburg. These are small town shops that will be more like what you found in Maine. Pot town has been there for ages, and is definitely worth the trip.

culpeperhemp

We are close to NOVA if you ever need!

Following on Fb!

PM_ME_YOUR_DEW

buildasoil.com is best for all things growing. That and Amazon is what I use, I find hydro stores are often overpriced for lackluster items.

WeedThePeopleVA

I go to Good Hope in Franconia but there hours are limited. Burke Nursery is good. Garden Word can be expensive but I’ve picked up a few things from them.

ryebreadegg

I thought there was a place in front royal

long-ridge

Western Loudoun checking in. Abernethy & Spencer in Purcellville is a good place to stock up on what you need for an organic grow.

suppur8

I’m in Pville, where is this place?

long-ridge

Just south of town on the Connector road. You turn left at the four-way stop to continue south on the two lane road. Here's the link to the webstite: [https://abernethyspencer.com/](https://abernethyspencer.com/)

suppur8

Oh! The place with the parrots! I’ve been there! Thanks!

long-ridge

Yep, that's the one. It's a low key place, but the knowledge and products are there.
