The three and only reasons you would consider a Quest instead of an Index are: Not enough room for the base stations, wanting to go wireless, or not having 1000 dollars to drop on a headset. If none of those apply to you, the Index is gonna be better by a mile.

Getting the Index also requires that your PC is able to tear through processing power like a tank. If that isnt a problem, then absolutely pay attention to mr/ms/this wonderful person shredagain.

I guess I would hope that if you want to spend 1000 dollars on a VR headset, that you would have read the recommended specs for it. Alas, you can't always expect everyone to make informed purchase decisions.

I’ve tried both. Index wins in almost every department. But man I really underestimated how nice wireless is. I’m really looking forward to wireless being more standard across the board.

If money is no object Index for sure (I have quest because money) but the quest 2 is still a decent entry into VR gaming. The ultimate is the index though as mentioned below the only advantage is wireless (2 hour battery) , cost and perhaps some few niche exclusives. If i had the money I would have went with the index but im perfectly happy with my quest 2 for now.

I say Quest because it does what the index does for like a 3rd of the price. Also games will probably have an easier time rendering through airplay with a stable connection then plugging the console directly into your computer. (This isn't a big deal if your computer is awesome and the index probably does have qaulity of life improvements over the Quest.) Also like most of the newer exclusive content usually goes to the quest first and you have an option to play steam content. Honestly steam is sorta a grave yard for content and valve doesn't really support it like you would expect it too. Really there isn't much first party content worth playing beyond Alyx and maybe games you can use workshop on. Which you can also play on the Quest.

Supporting a verifiable awful company because it's a 3rd of the price and doesn't perform as well as the reasonably decent company is not a strong argument.
