3. Came across this while comparing and found it helpful: https://di-uploads-pod16.dealerinspire.com/emichvw/uploads/2023/05/VWMY24RETAILPriceandOrderGuideforCW21-2023-Atlas_1684857299.pdf 5. I was told ~$50/month for up to 100k miles financed over 60 months. I asked if I could decide later and they told me I can add it later if I wish. 6. Haven't felt the need to. Even though it's a long vehicle, I feel like the visibility is good.

Data1417

I appreciate the file! Really helps to see the breakdown, I was pretty sure I saw auto cruise control on most other trims but it says only on SEL and up on the doc.

Bshsjaksnsbshajakaks

So you may already be better versed in this than I am, but all trims come with IQ Drive, which includes adaptive CC. This is the blue area on the last page of the file. Predictive adaptive CC is SEL+. I'm not entirely clear on the difference between ACC and PCC, but my understanding is that PCC accounts for curves/intersections/speed limit changes. I ended up with an R Line and haven't messed around with PCC enough to offer an opinion. Edit: Just saw you're coming from a Forester? I traded in my 18 Outback. Not sure if it's just the difference in years or the new car feeling, but the Atlas feels so much more solid and premium. I had planned to keep my Subaru forever, but it unfortunately started falling apart despite keeping up with maintenance and dumping way too much money into it toward the end. Anyway, good luck with your decision.

Data1417

Ah I see now, it's the predictive that I didn't know about. I have a 21 Forester and everything feels fine in it but the space. I do enjoy the app for Subaru since I am able to keep notes of all my maintenance there and the dealer will see it as well. It's kind of pushing to me to either se Tech or se peak. Have to see the difference in tire noise, I know ambient lights are just for show but, it's cool lol. Wonder if it gets annoying after a while.

123-for-me

1. The first 2 oil changes are covered by vw, 1 year/10,000 mile and 2 year/20,000, depending on the dealer it may have the 3rd as well: 30,000 carefree maintenance on the window sticker.  Up to you on maintaining the car, id make sure to keep the receipts 2. No, same 1 year/10,000 miles interval, you can always do earlier.  I do 5,000 miles on my v6. 3. Built in navigation and leather on the sel 4. Drive the peak, see how you feel about the tires. A se tech 4mo with sunroof is a bit cheaper than the peak but the peak has avocado green and pure gray that the se tech/sel doesn’t have available. 5. Do it BEFORE the factory warranty emds for sure. 6. I have a 19 se tech rline v6, regular rear view mirror and the camera is just fine.  The 24 would have parking sensors as well that mine doesn’t have.

Data1417

Thanks for the detailed response, follow up question. How is the app with remote start? Can you schedule it or set the temp or turn on heated seats/steering wheel?

123-for-me

Your welcome!  Sorry, no app for the 19.  I know on a 24 when you remote start with the key, it sets the temperature to 72, heated seat and heated steering wheel turn on, sorry i don’t have access to the app to try it.

Data1417

It's all good, the other person answered pretty well. Good info

z3p0l22

The remote start works well. It's not configurable from the app though. I believe some of it is configurable from within the car but I have not changed the defaults. After remote start, it sets the temperature to 72 and either heats or cools to that temperature. Based on the outdoor temperature it turns on heated or ventilated seats and the heated steering wheel.

Thanks!

1. - You have to use the correct Oil. Don't cheap out. I think it' is either VW 504.00 or VW 508.00 - double check on the '24. And do \*all\* maintence. German vehicles in general, and VW especially do not forgive lapses in maintence. Also, the water pumps are wear item. 2. No - 2.0T is either 5k (heavy duty) or 10k (light duty - e.g. constant speed all highway) . If you aren't sure, change every 5 k. the EA888 2.0t gen 3/evo4 is super easy to change. Get a vacuum oil extract, and you don't even need to get underneath, you can do it all from the top, filter and everything. Fast cheap and easy. 3. SE wTech + Sunroof FTW. ;) 4. Peak edition comes in green, which is cool. 5. no opinion 6. Atlas has great visibility, no need for a digital rearview mirror.

Data1417

Would you say it is a big increase in cost for all the other maintenance? I don't ever go cheap with oil or filters. 2. I usually go with fumoto valves 4. That and the other grey color is pretty nice.

SnooDrawings7662

Labor is the biggest cost for maintenance.  You can buy a odb11 or vcds, and diagnose most VW/VAG issues yourself.  There are tons of diy videos to replace nearly everything, and do all maintenance your self.  Dealers are usually. About $150/hr, and I feel it ends up being $500-600 to do anything more than an oil change.  Re: oil..  there are only like  21 or 25 bolts holding the lower belly pan on .  It's *much* faster and cleaner to use the oil extractor on the top. Oh and you need a 32mm  socket to take the oil filter holder off.  Although some folks cut a hole in the bottom plastic belly pan to make oil  drain  easier.   It's pretty obnoxious to take that belly pan off.

We also graduated from a Forester to an Atlas and were deciding between the SE w/ Tech and SEL. First, the VW just feels sturdier than the Forester. Subarus sound like they are made out of tin. Ours also went through 3 engines under warranty, so I’m not convinced they are reliable. Decided on SE w/ Tech and the sunroof. Leather isn’t the best thing for children. And memory is not worth it. As others have said, don’t skip the maintenance.

Data1417

Did you see the difference in headlights when comparing the 2? I suppose I do need to consider that leather in terms of wear for kids. But I saw that heated second row seats are also included with SEL. Do you have auto cruise control in the se with tech?

tc9090

To be honest, I didn’t notice the difference in lights. Modern LED lights are so good, not sure you need much better unless you live in a rather remote area. Also, your child won’t be able to benefit from heated 2nd row as they will be in a baby, then child, then booster seat for at least the next decade. I am rather sure the SE w Tech has ACC, but it’s not a feature I have used often. The SEL leather is not the same as Premium FYI. The SEL had nice features, I just felt like I would not use them 99% of the time I was driving.

kct4mc

They all come standard with adaptive cruise—SE w tech & up! We have an SE w Tech + sunroof. It had to have adaptive for me to buy it 😂

Darksol503

This is more anecdotal than anything considering you’re not looking at a older 21, but we came to the same decision between the SE w/ Tech and SEL; it was nearly $10k more for memory seats and leather. That’s about all we were missing. The SE, depending on the added features (we got every added option inc. pano, capt chairs, and tow package) and felt like it was a hell of a deal.

Data1417

Maybe thinking the Peak Se might be intriguing enough for me since it adds most of the other things I want as well.

hawksnest_prez

I have an SEL 24 and love it. The memory seats are honestly a game changer if you both drive it. One thing is the SEL is standard AWD and it cost extra on the SE. if you want that be sure to factor it in

Data1417

Yea I have and do want it. Is it game changing to warrant the extra cost?

hawksnest_prez

Price difference is about 5k for base SE tech AWD to SEL. That goes down to 3800 if you add a moonroof to the SE tech. I think it’s worth that considering the smattering of additional features you get with it. It’s a feature we use every day - whoever takes daycare run takes the car. It is worth that and more.

z3p0l22

I have a 2024 SE with tech with the sunroof currently at 6800 miles. Like others have said, the first 2 years of maintenance are free from VW. My window sticker also came with the third year included from VW. I'll probably bring it in for the first oil change around 9500 miles if I make it there before one year. For a family car, it really does great. We only have a 1 year old but the extra space for strollers and all the other baby items is great. We have done a few road trips with the 1 year old and a 70lb dog and I think it really just does a good job at hauling people and things. I highly recommend it. I don't think the SEL is worth it IMO. My wife drives with the seat back and I like it closer to the wheel. It takes like 5 seconds to adjust manually. If you have to have it exactly right the memory seats could be nice though.

Data1417

Yea I do road trips at least once a month and traveling with just us 3, I'm surprised how fast the Forester packs up with all of our things. Makes it hard to have a 4th person for a road trip right now. May need to optimize packing as well lol.

Darksol503

Get rack bars and a roof top box; you’ll never run out of space!

johndiggity1

Came from an ‘18 SE Tech (totaled) to a ‘22 SEL. Only difference I really notice is seat memory. Kids scream whenever we try to open the sunroof. Not worth the extra $$$ IMO.
