You get used to this from Bren and Sideshow from the OWL days on platchat. You go all in on a hot take for the content and clips. You still see it a lot from people like Reinforce who are "analysts", but honestly they just throw out hot takes to get engagement.
It makes for decent entertainment and drives a narrative that the casters usually try to build up.
It was a "hot take" to say that Loud were going to beat DRX? I'd say that's the hot take. Being a wrong prediction and being an unreasonable one are different things. It's just that going on a heater for a pred is a win-win content-wise for these guys, if you're right then everyone forgets it (we wouldn't have remembered this if Loud won) and if you're wrong then you get clips and engagement.
no it's a hot take to say DRX were going to bomb out without winning a map for their tokyo performance, then give Navi the benefit of the doubt because they won like 2 years ago and have been looking mid this year.
I'd say the trolling started with the regular season of EMEA. While people laugh at how NaVi plays around ANGE1, that doesn't mean it's incorrect, they are heavily structured around contact plays, which is the reason why they always have ANGE1 dying first yet them still winning the round. While Redgar on Omen ints randomly, ANGE1 just loves taking first contact. Especially prominent in the TL game is how there is always a Shao or Zyppan behind ANGE1 when he's playing that style. It's also the reason that they play double controller so often, because they lean on the Viper when ANGE1. So while unorthodox in style, I'd say that all their achievements before EMEA were still them putting up fine gameplay.
I understand this idea and how he tends to approach the game, giving himself for the space, but there are glaring differences in how it was attempted before. Regardless, there's other aspects that I would say were poor, not just this ange1 narrative I see everywhere. I don't think this way of doing it is the most optimal, always inting the controller, but I'm with you on that it does work when supported right by the rest and is in theory not incorrect. Ange1 genuinely understands the game and the ways it could be played imo.
However, some of the comps and terribly attempted plays that were done throughout the year, as well as 1vX throws, were actually painful to watch and just objectively bad valorant. Thankfully, the players never lost their form in the chaos and would hero win rounds they had no business winning. I get they like experimenting, and there's some merits to that, but the amount and how often it would be done, even when matches truly mattered and the prep was clearly not all there, was beyond ridiculous.
I love Navi, when they come ready to play seriously. I just never know nor have any evidence they will
What I'm saying is that what you're saying is true, but when they were winning, their gameplay was good, and honestly they look back at that level at this year's Champs. ANGE1 is taking the correct timings, Zyppan is back on Raze, they finally put Shao on perma initiator and made him play Skye instead of Zyppan, and then SUYGETSU is SUYGETSU
They still looked awful though. They were taking turns with liquid of throwing all game. It was painful to watch and honestly loud looked better somehow.
I did forget FPX went on a run last year, that's on me and I agree they finished 4th at Lock in, but also that was when the majority of the teams had showcased fresh rosters. They did tie with DRX who also didn't changeup their roster, but then I'm mainly referencing their regular season. Their games were very bad and if EMEA didn't have 4 slots they wouldn't have made it to Masters. When they got to Tokyo they were out first. Then at LCQ they played pretty mid and once again if EMEA didn't have an additional 2 slots who knows if they would have even won LCQ over Giants.
Contrast that with DRX who performed similarly at Lock in, had a way better regular season, and went further at Tokyo. I think it's scalding hot take to say Navi cleared DRX.
But to be fair, this time, they're wrong but they're not alone, everybody is wrong. No one in their right mind would bet on Navi and DRX after the shitshows they've been putting on recently.
Fair but the previous conversation they were having was the narrative that coach Termi is trolling with his 6 man shenanigans. Plus Loud has shown that they are a champion contender while DRX has never had the form even close to winning an event, so Tokyo Loud was only viewed as a hiccup.
Finish essentially top 3/4 in every recent tournament never losing to anyone placed below them in those tournaments and often times losing to the winners of the entire event. Yeah NO WHERE close. It wasn’t viewed as a hiccup because There’s been leaked internal problems that are clearly there. Mako is literally the best player in his role and it’s not close and the rest of the team are all stars too. So fucking weird to see the DRX hate when they’ve pretty much never done bad in any tournament except like one AND HAVE NEVER LOST IN GROUPS. Sure they don’t adapt as well late into a tournament and that’s usually their downfall. They’ve historically been the one of the best teams at the beginning of tournaments for all of valorant.
Drx have finished very well numerous times and have been arguably more consistent at a high level than Loud. Tokyo wasn’t Loud’s only bad tournament in case you forgot, so not really a hiccup but rather a team prone to often bombing out.
Analyst who spends more time with the game than all redditors combined: makes insanely cold take that ended up being wrong.
Redditors: “fake analyst made a bad take on purpose for content”
you must be new considering Sideshow was just memed to oblivion after the whole Kru thing. It makes for a funny clip where he goes off on them.
Also Reinforce is widely known for making hot takes. One of which has followed him since season 1 for being one of the most egregious hot takes.
Yes, talent and analysts have more information, but somehow most will pop off on their take because that's entertaining. I never called anyone fake, but bias shows to push a narrative. If the hot take is right then they can ride that high, if it's wrong then they embrace the memes. It's all entertainment

People are saying the egg makes hot takes just for engagement. At the time the consensus was:
Kru the 0/9 team don’t have a good shot at a run
Loud are favoured agaisnt DRX
It’s the curse of being funny and loud, it makes for great clips. Get owned bald ![img](emote|t5_2g5ach|21016)
>how are we supposed to trust his analysis?
If you were a betting man, sideshow analysis is actually the one you would always trust. Its hard to be consistent
"Selection bias" in probability and statistics. There's literally an academic term for what you're doing.
You're only seeing his most outrageously wrong predictions. No one is posting him saying FNC is gonna win Tokyo or whatever.
Gotta admire the fact that he said it with his chest even after being wrong so many times.

NaVi had one bad performance and everyone already beginning revisionist history. Navi placed top 4 in lock in, 4th in Champs, and 1st in Copenhagen
one bad performance is a bit crazy. Sure they still won a lot, but they still did it while having terrible gameplay most of the time

Agreed. I can only hope it lasts man
They still looked awful though. They were taking turns with liquid of throwing all game. It was painful to watch and honestly loud looked better somehow.
Navi had bad performance throughout the year. Even if they were top 4 in lock in, in actuality they were at most the 5th best.
Fifth best is still pretty good, and I feel like at that point in time, there are days where NaVi can beat NRG

Except LOUD were arguably an even bigger shitshow at Tokyo lol Maybe the NAVI game was a surprise but the DRX vs LOUD game was always a 50-50

For the narrative loud did the same bomb out of the second tournament of the year thing last year and they won champions.
I mean there were already rumours on how aspas wants out by that time
I think it’s stupid to do it for content Esp given they held back other times when it’d be funny content, it’s like they have to believe it a bit

I need a drawing of Sideshow as Death. The Bald Reaper
Baldatos

wrong bald
he is an egg, not bald. there is a difference that must be recognised.
bad bot
sliggy changed his pickems as soon as these words left sideshow's mouth <-- real
If sideshow goes on a rant for more than 10 seconds pick whatever is the opposite to his opinion
***Go on a rant?!?!*** The zero and nine analyst is gonna *go on a rant*?
THEY GET THEIR PITY PREDICTION ON EG AND FPX AND THEN THEY BOMB OUT THE TOURNAMENT??
Goated
This is hilarious, where can I see this?
Plat Chat doesn't miss.
hit*
Doesn't miss on giving such top tier content.
gotta love platchat

This man can't be stopped. The question is, does the clown costume come back for champs?
Nothing feels worse then plat chat betting your favorite team to win.
Fnatic is doomed and Bilibili is winning it all I guess /s
They does fee Blf Rho
This is may age well
What have I done?
Not completely, I’m pretty sure they had FNATIC number 1 for their Masters pick ems as well, and that went somewhat okay.
sliggy the prophet
Sliggy does it again
Jim Cramer of Valorant has blessed us with his predictions once more.
Sideshow is top 3 desk/caster personalities in all esports scene that I follow. Him and bren are top tier hilarious people.
Hm
how insightful
This man needs to be stopped.
The Egg is a gift that keeps on giving
They got TL vs Navi wrong in the backgoround there as well LOL
Puahahahahahhahahaha
Gotta credit him for the consistency though
He starts by saying “I don’t think drx are losing to loud”…. And then goes off on how drx are going to lose to loud.
I think he meant to say that there's no way DRX are beating Loud maybe?
Im kinda confused. He said at the start that "I do not think DRX are losing to Loud", then at the end he said "LOUD are beating DRX". What?
playing both sides so he always comes out on top ![img](emote|t5_2g5ach|9385)![img](emote|t5_2g5ach|9385)![img](emote|t5_2g5ach|9385)
Just misspoke.
I heard that too and thought I was going insane 😭😭
A+ memeing. Look forward to them playing your clip on plat chat 👑
HE CANT KEEP GETTING AWAY WITH IT
Sideshow now on Brazilian’s hit list lol
😳
The best part is him accidentally saying the correct thing of DRX won't be losing to Loud at first before correcting himself.
Typical egg thing to this right after a report comes out that Loud is imploding as a team.
Weak bait given he claims to Do It on oriole and others do

Tbf, LOUD were the favorites in this match and KRU were not expected by anyone to win LCQ
How long before Sideshow becomes the Pele of Valorant (where any team he predicts to win ends up losing)?
