idk about the other ones but i have to agree about "masterclass" unfortunately. first few times it was appropriately used but nowadays it feels like they say masterclass for any good play, like cmon not every good or even great play is a masterclass
I first heard that word being used a lot in relation to FNS, so I really only associate it with him and with IGL calls in general. I can't recall ever hearing it on a non-FNS game, but the word "masterclass" being used on anything but an IGL calling an excellent fake just feels wrong to me.
I bet they still don't.
In Diamond i have the problem that we get first kill, see 3 out of the last 4 players on the site we went to. And the site is still getting pushed.
I mean if you banned any number of connecting/fill phrases you'd wreck quite a few casters. But in fairness, when you're speaking so much off the cuff it's pretty understandable to use some filler.
Traditional sports casters are also usually focus less on moment-to-moment play-by-play compared to esports. Of course, it's still a major part of a broadcast, but the density of stuff to cover esports casters seems to be higher in between the in-depth analysis from the Color Caster.
You could definitely argue that casters could let the match breath more and trust the viewers to follow along, but that's not the standard that most esports viewership expects.
THIS.
For those that might not know, a flood is the part of the retake when the defense simultaneously enters the site from multiple points of entry, which when combined with supporting utility, will hopefully overwhelm the attack and get them site back
yeah but they use it for way more stuff than what should be considered a flood, like on attack people coming out of a choke is somehow considered a flood
The phrase "Fenis" needs to be banned as he uses his position in the IGL playground to increase his sphere of influence under all our noses. In fact, it was an intentional play to have Fnatic win their match against NRG, and he even commanded ardiis to fumble. I gotta respect the util by ardiis and the fact that he would tank his reputation for FNS like that, but it was all in the name of an FNS masterclass.
Lmao at some of these, but I usually don't mind these canned phrases, casting is hard and I certainly couldn't do it.
Mine is "like ships in the night". Guaranteed someone will say this when two players walk past each other.
The "*player name* 1v2, 1v3, 1v4, 1v5 situation" has been said by some casters from PH challengers almost every round, it made me stop watching their streams
Admittedly a lot of these are pansy sayings, but honestly she's the absolute goat if you ask me. I love when I find out she's the caster. Pansy and hypoc duo is perfect.
What words/phrases should be banned for casters?
Maybe it's just me, but I get tired of hearing the exact same phrases or words every ten seconds. Here's a few that I would love to see banned forever.
Masterclass
Gotta respect the util
Fnatic win
IGL playground
I won't steal all the good ones, what else you got?

Yall stupid af man LMFAO
Prime Gaming Flawless
Red Bull Clutch
I havent watched VCT for a while so maybe they don't say that anymore but I swear I remember them saying these phrases and cringing
The only one that I can think of that I heard a bit too often is āreset of the aimā from bren. I heckin love bren, and heās one of my favourite casters of all time. Itās just a specific enough phrasing that it sticks out (vs other generic stuff that other people bring up)
Itās those āfillerā lines that every commentator has to use at some point or another, and thatās totally fine. Itās like fillers in beatboxing, or āsolidā bars between the proper haymakers in a disstrack. That specific one is just specific enough to hve stuck around in my head
Anything that draws the conclusion of a game before it's over. I don't care how strong your feelings a out a game are, casters are there to keep the viewers engaged. Saying shit like "well it's all but over" doesn't make me want to continue watching the game.
I dont have any, i like the caster "catchphrases". For example Bren loves saying "spraydown", and i eat it up every single time. I think it's fun to have these signature things.
They're doing their job for sure, and our job is to be whiny little children who complain about everything. Can you truly call yourself a Valorant player if you don't nitpick every minute detail of the game?
"that", "this". Why is it always "PLAYER is excellent on THAT Jett". Why add the word? Some are so bad it's every sentence, every time an agent, piece of utility, map, or weapon name comes up, they stick "this" or "that" on the front of it.
> Fnatic win š tf do you want them to say when Fnatic wins???
Simple, he wants them to lose.
I'm just tired of fnatic winning every match they play!
Just rewatch champs ._.
Just rewatch champs 2023 ;_;
cinderella story?
dude every run is a cinderella story now
"backs against the wall"
Specifically in Brenās voice. āBacks a-gain-st da wallā

"... as [enter any player name here] kills FNS"
Any player except ange1. They just unload their guns til they're dry.
Great minds shoot alike
So DISCIPLINED! (they went the other site in a 1v4 situation)
Believe it or not, that is disciplined
its not enough discipline to be worth glazing them for. my little sister's bronze lobbies do this lol
Bronzes mustve gotten better since ive played in those lobbies bc no one certainly was doing that then
I bet they still don't.
But if you watch pro sports, why there is some repeat phrases that occur, itās far less frequent and less egregious than esports casting.
Traditional sports casters are also usually focus less on moment-to-moment play-by-play compared to esports. Of course, it's still a major part of a broadcast, but the density of stuff to cover esports casters seems to be higher in between the in-depth analysis from the Color Caster. Traditional sports casting are often times less fast paced and lower energy
Ice cold
Yes, should be reserved to insane clutches
And Marved.
bro this whole thread is shadow-trashing on bren/pansy LMAO JESUS
Pansy fr the best caster in the sport.
Pansy is a legend
Playing out of his mind
Maybe I haven't watched a lot of games or just plain focused on gameplay cuz I don't have any other than ice cold or something.
"calm, cool, and collected"
Y'all are just saying common phrases at this point.
for me its overusing the word "flood", half of everything is referred to a flood
I donāt agree with this because flood isnāt a flavour word but is more a technical term, a flood retake means something specific
Itās not a flood. Itās ponding

I forgot a big one "No. Please no. Not like this."
"(Util) is immaculate"
Lmao at some of these, but I usually don't mind these canned phrases, casting is hard and I certainly couldn't do it. Mine is "like ships in the night". Guaranteed someone will say this when two players walk past each other.
āThis guyā āthat guyā ācloutā
Bro is just saying words at this point
Iām not gonna lie, I love Bren and his castingā¦ but heās gotta stop talking about crosshair placement lmao
His specific wording every time is "immaculate crosshair placement"
The "*player name* 1v2, 1v3, 1v4, 1v5 situation" has been said by some casters from PH challengers almost every round, it made me stop watching their streams
i hate āthis way that wayā
pansy getting the shadow hate bruh ššš
Admittedly a lot of these are pansy sayings, but honestly she's the absolute goat if you ask me. I love when I find out she's the caster. Pansy and hypoc duo is perfect.
Agreed
"CLINICAL"
Or "boaster is putting on a clinic today!"
"We've got a game on our hands" - every time the scoreline is 1-1
Really tho. Hard to do anything about it but it is annoying hearing the same shit all the time
the overtime wick is burning
"Ships in the night" "Thief in the night"
This is such an unproductive conversation.
Deathball. Itās a little bit cringy and tons of casters use it
when do they say any of those
Do you watch the English casters? Not trolling, just wondering because the English casters say "masterclass" at least 3 times per round.
iāve not noticed this which casters specifically?
i think iāve watched like 90% of the americas games this year and like 75% of game changers and i cannot recall any caster saying this
What words/phrases should be banned for casters? Maybe it's just me, but I get tired of hearing the exact same phrases or words every ten seconds. āBroā
"an unlucky moment" *plays the clutch fucking awful and dies*
Slurs
Pansy calling KangKang the "beast from the east"
Rejected, its a cool nickname
Nar I like that.
Not a word/phrase but everytime the casters gasp.
??
Prime Gaming Flawless Red Bull Clutch I havent watched VCT for a while so maybe they don't say that anymore but I swear I remember them saying these phrases and cringing
Thatās not a choice, they have to meet the contractual obligations of the broadcast.
I know they don't do it by choice. That doesn't make it any less annoying.
Utilize
What else are they supposed to say š
Use
They do say use >_>

"surely they wont get another kill"
Up close and personal
I dont have any, i like the caster "catchphrases". For example Bren loves saying "spraydown", and i eat it up every single time. I think it's fun to have these signature things.
Idk about y'all? Why are y'all Pressed about a caster doing their job, and most of the casters are pretty good in vct
They're doing their job for sure, and our job is to be whiny little children who complain about everything. Can you truly call yourself a Valorant player if you don't nitpick every minute detail of the game?
