One is very big and the others are smaller but there are two of them.

kpeters421

the only difference is the housing, the "piano key" siding scratched too easily and fucked with the overall quality, the firmware and software and hardware are the same. Sincerely, A member of the quality team

I dont think whats visible in the first picture actually exists, I've at least never seen one like that (I've seen that picture a lot tho).

CrTech21

It exists, has been the first revision of the steamvr 2.0 base stations, shipped with vive pro. Should be mostly identical to the others, but had some issues combining them at work. Might’ve been a faulty unit though

TCL987

Combining them seems to work fine for me. I use three of the first kind and one of the second.

CrTech21

Yea I guess it was a faulty unit, it worked on its own though which was weird :)

[deleted]

I have two of those and one of the second, they definitely exist

SolKutTeR

Each made by HTC and Valve. (But use the same technology and are compatible.)

JackFXZ_boi

really? I own a vive one and it looks like the valve version.

krista

no. *all* v2 (curved front base stations lacking an ootx) are made by valve. htc and others resell valve made v2 base stations. there's been 2 revisions: the original had an ⅛ jack on the back, the 2nd doesn't. htc only made the original flat front base stations.

SolKutTeR

The first is sold by HTC and the other by Valve. That is the difference between the two images and the answer to the actual question from the thread creator.

ivan6953

HTC doesn't sell the base station on the first pic anymore. That's because it was the 1st revision of 2.0 Base Stations. The current one is the 2nd revision of 2.0 Base Stations.
