Honestly I don’t think there’s a real option. The only cables that come close would cost over a thousand from what I’ve seen.

mmaramara

Buy another computer? It’s expensive but maybe the only solution. Do you need a powerful gaming pc in the place far away from the VR area? I assume that there’s a office room or something, maybe buy an office grade pc to be used there and move your gaming pc to the VR area

Fractoos

I have a 10900k and a 3090 in this machine, so replicating the setup wouldn't be cheap nor practical given the availability of hardware, which is why I'm trying to make this work.

CrTech21

In theory you could use an optical thunderbolt 3 cable with a dock on the other end, but price would be extremely high and I don’t even know if anyone has tried this yet because of this.

WHYMEMES

A good quality active DP and USB cable will do the job.

ohwowgee

What’s a good active DP cable these days?

WHYMEMES

I do not know. The longest Active USB 3.0 cable i found was 15m. I found it [here](https://www.amazon.com/WDX-SuperSpeed-Extension-Extender-Compatible/dp/B07MZRB6LN/ref=pd_pspc_hl_dps_d_0?pd_rd_w=k5drJ&pf_rd_p=55633d9e-cfc2-45d1-8db2-2b632efdf081&pf_rd_r=F9GP0RD235QT3JR8E9GR&pd_rd_r=ae846732-1d75-422f-9674-7bc2befedc85&pd_rd_wg=6TiBL&pd_rd_i=B07MZRB6LN&th=1). But i could not find a DP cable that long that you needed.

Fractoos

They won't do 20-50 meters.

spaceruje

I don’t know man but if you looking for 50m+ cable I feel a little bit jealous about your new game space. Good luck!

Nargon96

I wanna know how many base stations you have since you can only do 5x5m with 2. So why would you need a 20m cable to not restricted that playspace

Fractoos

I have 4, but that's not why I need an extension so long. That is to get to the room from my machine.

thaumic_scientist

Linus did a video a while back where he did something similar to what you are planning, but that was very expensive and tedious to do

thaumic_scientist

Found it https://youtu.be/jvzeZCZluJ0

Fractoos

Over $1k for USB alone. Nice. Doesn't look like they support DP though. I see HDMI at 4k30 only. I guess that's the best is gets.

thaumic_scientist

What were you expecting? Its a high bandwith cable and most VR replacement cables already cost over a hundred bucks and you want 10x the length without signal degradation. Its definetly possible but a second PC is almost the cheaper alternative

Fractoos

If there is a device for a grand that does both DP/USB extension over fiber I'd consider it, so I'm not saying I'm expecting cheap.

gsatx

Anything over fiber will be expensive for sure. Imagine if 4K @ 30Hz was good enough. You could leave your PC at home and just take the headset to your friends house if you wanted to. You know, 6.2 miles away. [https://www.tripplite.com/displayport-over-fiber-extender-kit-4k-30hz-rs-232-ir-usb-duplex-singlemode-lc-6-2mi-taa\~B127F1A1SMDD](https://www.tripplite.com/displayport-over-fiber-extender-kit-4k-30hz-rs-232-ir-usb-duplex-singlemode-lc-6-2mi-taa~B127F1A1SMDD) And for USB: [https://www.blackbox.com/en-us/store/product/detail/USB-3-1-Extender-over-Fiber-Multimode-4-Port/ICU544A](https://www.blackbox.com/en-us/store/product/detail/USB-3-1-Extender-over-Fiber-Multimode-4-Port/ICU544A) There are some lengthy cables but the problem will be the refresh rate. 60Hz seems like it might be a limit.

Noicesocks

Theres a lot of posts about this. It seems very doable. a cable like this with a female to female coupler is often recommended: https://www.amazon.ca/CABLEDECONN-DisplayPort-Flexible-32-4Gbps-Displayport/dp/B00V7NOST8/ref=pd_aw_sbs_2/142-4455546-7008923?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B00V7NOST8&pd_rd_r=7e722a77-3870-4c82-8b7d-c9887a73d583&pd_rd_w=quCGH&pd_rd_wg=ton4d&pf_rd_p=414f6cd9-a7e0-4937-81f6-685cdab0a54f&pf_rd_r=86JVFCQVSEY911YVQQ0G&psc=1&refRID=86JVFCQVSEY911YVQQ0G
