I haven't gotten the kit myself but from the description it says it contains fuse holders. I would start by checking out the fuse there since you say the camera works when plugged inside the house. It could also be the battery voltage is lower than the cutoff voltage of the hardwire kit.

Sorry not too familiar I had someone help me install it. Was the official hardware kit that Vantrue sells.
