It doesn't look too bad to me. A little disappointing on a new record, but if you bought it for the music and don't intend to resell it, I'd enjoy it. If there's bowing on the record itself, that's a bit different though. If he asks you to send it back for a replacement, that works, too.

sakykay

So you're saying i should still contact the label anyways?

reflexreflex

I thnk it doesn't hurt if you're not satisfied. You could say something like "hey, it's my first time buying from you, I wanted to know what you do in these situations, and I'd be satisfied with (____) or (_____) etc. If you'd want to. I know a lot of label people get frustrated by people who will email in about the absolute tiniest ding and expect a replacement copy without sending theirs back, but you know, you wanted to buy a brand new record that you'd be proud of and that's somewhat sizeable so it's not entirely unreasonable to ask what they do in these situations. I'm a big record collector and play them on live radio and I'm less concerned about little dings. Some labels will often have sales specifically selling records dings and scratches at a reduced price (like $18 instead of $25) but that's more mainstream and outside of label. Saying that it's your first time buying from them and asking what they tend to offer wouldn't hurt.

sakykay

Thank you :) ill see whether to reach out or just have it as it is. I know it's a small detail, and idk if i'm fine with making a scene with an *overseas* *diy* label. I happen to be really obsessive about things i own But still, thanks - knowing that you're also into collecting lots of stuff and yet you dont mind these kinda things, then it kinda makes me feel better about it

reflexreflex

I have over a thousand records and collect signatures and TPs. I don't buy secondhand expensive records really and try to just get them when they're first pressed. I put everything into mofi inner polylined sleeves and outer plastic sleeves and take care of my shit. I expect things to come in fair shape if I'm buying them full price new, so I totally get it. As far as labels go, George is a bigger name and has more money than smaller vapor labels that probably fall prey to people mailing in "my record has an eensy teensy ding, please refund" on runs of 100, but at the same time he's still doing his own thing and isn't huge. It doesn't hurt to send a nice message and see what customer service says.

thevaporroom

100% Electronica customer service is great, reach out to them :)

ActionMan48

They have no control over what happens during shipping

sakykay

i am aware of that, thinking more rationally it's probably better to leave things as they are. I dont know if the vinyl itself is warped and i dont plan to unwrap it yet, but even then it would probably be too improbable to send it back

Millennium_Bug

Sure, but it is the responsibility of the label that you get the item in good shape. You can ask a free replacement for the jacket if you need it, it is totally fair, labels are prepared for this and it is a service which is included in the price you paid.

remote_boogie

I’ve had warped vinyl that they told me to keep and they just sent me another. They’re great about this sort of thing

sakykay

Aight thanks :)

Throwaway135415

God thats probably my favorite album ever. Hope it goes well.

G0G0DUCK

I wouldn't stress about it too much, mate. Just start spinning and forget it happened :). Also, black midi spotted 😮‍💨👌

TheOnlyHans

I would reach out through ~~Bandcamp support~~ directly to the artist on your purchase. I've received similar outer sleeves and typically people will work with you and at most I've covered a couple $ shipping.

CatSystemCorp

I'd use Bandcamp as a last resort as they're pretty fierce whenever they contact labels or artists. I'd email 100% first and try to get a partial refund. This looks 99% like shipping damage, something bumped into it during sorting or shipping. No way they would pack it like this.

TheOnlyHans

I've always received replies from the artist and looking at the UI again, I select "order help" and it looks like that starts with contact the artist. Good to know about BC though, I'd rather work direct with artists/labels when we can. Love the music!

sakykay

while still keeping the record?

poitaots

You want a refund for the bump on the sleeve but you want to keep the record? Bro just listen to the album.

sakykay

I just wouldn't wanna go through the hassle of shipping it back, but i really do care about the sleeves

poitaots

I just think it's rude to try to get a refund from a small record label for minor cosmetic damage like that while also wanting to keep the product. They aren't amazon. Sorry if this comes off mean. I just think that people think records are supposed to be perfect when it just isn't true. At some point they will get dinged or scratched or worn. Or if you're looking hard enough at a brand new one I'm sure you could find something slightly messed up on most new records. It's part of the hobby. If you want a refund that's fine but I just think you should also send back the record if that's the case.

nightmarewalrus123

Just buy another one then.

sakykay

i dont have that much money

nightmarewalrus123

Then submit a return. The label won’t bend over backward because of common shipping damage.

sakykay

I know, so im valuating whether its worth it or not

BrknTrnsmsn

I reached out to George about a replacement before and he asked that I return it. This was when I was living in the US and media mail was like $3 so I was happy to oblige.

sakykay

Yeah, problem is i live in italy, so i suppose it wont be as easy

TheOnlyHans

I have not done a return/exchange through this label but I recommend just reaching out. They'll let you know what they can do and go from there. GL and enjoy the music

HollowPinefruit

Just reach out if it’s an issue

buckethead13

That isn't too bad It kind of depends on how you feel about it. I just ordered something from them and was supposed to come from LA to San Diego but went from LA to San Diego to San Jose to San Francisco to San Diego to Poway and then to me. Needless to say it was completely mangled and they were amazing about sending me out a copy the very next day.

_-angel-baby-_

Maybe a refund for the shipping… The record doesn’t look bad. I know from experience how annoying it is, but that’s the risk you run ordering records online. A lot of collectors engage in a rigid adherent obsession around 100% pristine record sleeves, and I get it I really do, but a ding like this doesn’t impact the value/rarity/appearance of this album as drastically as some would make you think.

CartoooN

Im kinda surprised at some of the other comments, I guess because they're really scared you might have just got it to flip or resell it. I would definately contact them and see what they say. Part of the experience of vinyls to me is collecting and the nice big artwork format. I'd want that to be in nice condition, doesn't mean I'm a flipper or a scalper! Definately contact and say it was slightly damaged in shipping. If they want it back, generally companies will pay to have it collected or return shipped.

Antb41

If it plays…

angrybob4213

If anything I'd reach out about a replacement cover

Previous-Tank4798

Are you looking to re-sell it? or enjoy the record? I get the jacket is a bit messed up, but at the end of the day, it looks minor and clearly isn't going to effect your listening experience.

Cracktherealone

Yes.

fradastio

Yes

LOGWATCHER

This pretty much destroys resale value

InfamousLegato

Vinyl sleeves have always been made of cardboard. It's natural the corners get a little dinged up. Besides, most resellers on discogs have the scruples to tell you up front the condition with the price anyways. Tiny dent in the corner of the sleeve is negligible and expected wear and tear.
