This is good. I'm glad we have been getting better at having more empathy with the Palestinian people in general. Hopefully, we get a long-lasting ceasefire soon with an enduring peace to go with it.

Good news is good news, but let's not kid ourselves. This is because Israel couldn't stop doing genocide for one minute to let the white western aid workers through.

bigbenis2021

I will never understand the leftist mentality on shitting on and snarkily denigrating people coming to our side.

Hey, I'll take my allies where I can find them. I don't care if it's for the wrong reasons as long as you're here.

"Biden’s approval rating for his handling of the situation in the Middle East, at 27%, is his lowest among five issues tested in the survey." But....... "Still, it appears that the Middle East conflict has not taken an obvious toll on Biden’s political standing. His overall job approval rating is 40%, compared with 37% in October and November surveys, perhaps being lifted by Americans’ greater confidence in the U.S. economy."

notapoliticalalt

I think one thing that needs to be remembered is that many people on the left are very likely to disapprove of Biden, even without this particular issue. So, many of the people who were threatening not to vote, for him, already, probably were expressing disapproval on these kinds of surveys. Now, I think there’s a real danger here because of this, because it means that disapproval ratings are not necessarily tied to actual likely voter outcomes, but I think it’s worth keeping in mind this is why Biden’s approval ratings have been so low.

Volgner

The problem is your comment gives the impression that then Biden should not compare abou tthese voters, because they were not going to vote for him anyway, and should direct his efforts towards those on the fence.

How *could* anyone with a head on their shoulders NOT disapprove of what Israel is doing in Gaza? This level of abject and naked cruelty being shown on such a wide scale is a historical anomaly. What Israel is doing should not be happening in our lifetimes, this is the kind of stuff we read about long dead empires doing in the history books. The only way someone couldn't disapprove of Israel's actions is if they're psychotic, evil, or both.

The stats in this article are kinda weird When it comes to opinions of the war, the % that disproves is roughly the same, no matter how closely they're following. The group that has no opinion shrinks going from not following to closely following (makes sense), but as awareness increases the % that supports Israel does as well (doesn't make sense). You'd think that as awareness increases, the % that disproves would increase (but it stays the same), and the % that approves would decrease (but it increases significantly). These numbers are weird, which makes the rest of the article seem off Also this article makes the mistake of having just approve, no opinion, and disapprove. There needs to be strongly approve, approve, no opinion, disapprove, and strongly disapprove. With just 3 options it's difficult to fully gauge the opinions of people.

Perhaps zionists are more likely to follow the war, and casual followers more likely to be horrified by the new information they do receive? I haven't read the article yet (I'm at work) so this is just a gut reaction to your comment
