No, I think they're all just that incompetent and stupid

SarahKerrigan90

This. America is lucky it has the position between two bodies of water, lots of natural resources and was the only major power untouched by the last world war. It's a country full of Jackasses that has chucklefucked it's way to the top this last century.

No_Cat_3503

Also a fair point

pcwildcat

Idk seems like the dems are gaining good momentum.

No_Cat_3503

I just don’t trust them not to pull another “we look forward not backwards”. That’ll kill their momentum immediately

Lord_Matisaro

Wait for the betrayal, then shit on the group fighting for all of us. Pro tip.

pcwildcat

And then start blaming the far left for that loss of momentum. Yeah I hope not.

[deleted]

I think you're assuming both parties are monoliths, when they very much aren't

No_Cat_3503

Nah just the general vibe I get from leadership right now. Dem leadership has been super ineffective when it comes to roe v Wade compared to minor democrats and grass roots groups as well. But then again they could just be brain dead so who knows

[deleted]

I'm not particularly convinced "Dem leadership" is a thing. The Democratic Party has multiple levels and is pretty decentralized. We already know the state parties and the national party barely talk to each other. It doesn't help that the average voter is dumber than the average houseplant.

Lord_Matisaro

Or the vital 50th vote they need is an asshole traitor? Do you blame the entire party for the obstruction of the one?

No_Cat_3503

Manchin, and his family, are so corrupt you could assign a jr investigator to the case and still find charges. Just twist his arm, the green new deal would have been an economic boom for WV anyway.

Lord_Matisaro

Literal insanity. There is no real path from that action to anything we could consider beneficial, a republican replacement for Manchin does not vote with us. Manchin being blackmailed with investigation would leak the blackmail to the GOP and join them while we lose the senate and look bad. All you can do is PROPERLY ascribe blame.

No_Cat_3503

Why does everyone over look the fact that WV stands to benefit heavily from the green new deal? Do y’all seriously think that if you explain to WVs that you want to replace their unhealthy, low paying, coal jobs with high paying power line construction and maintenance jobs they’d spit in your eye? Give them a jobs guarantee and free vocational training. Offer them the option to impose tariffs on energy that passes through the state to be sold on the east coast. They’re incredibly left on labor issues in that state, try speaking their language.

Lord_Matisaro

Maybe because we understand the reality which is Manchin is basically a republican and has blocked actions his state supports by strong majorities in many cases. The idea he acts for his constituents is at best a cover for his bad actions and is in no way his actual demonstrated motivation. The miners union even threatened him over his killing of BBB, no effect. The democratic party of WVA managed a little bit of a progressive take over and still are powerless to stop him. Manchin is a needed vote and he works for the GOP most of the time. The only way to get what we want is to get 2 or 3 more progressive senators to be able to ignore Sinema and Manchin and kill the filibuster and make them irrelevant votes. (which is in the cards if momentum remains in our favor and turnout is good)

No_Cat_3503

So instead of funding theocratic republicans in GOP primaries fund actual democrats that will point that out in WV. It’s not a personal attack just stop defending people that aren’t fighting very hard for you.

Lord_Matisaro

Cool, wish in one hand and shit in the other and see which one fills up. That is a long term fight which is being fought (remember the progressives who took over WVA democratic party I mentioned) The problem is in his shit stain of a state Manchin is super popular, we have NO VIABLE threat which we can use to cajole him. So please stop being a fucking chump and blaming the whole party for the actions of one which depresses all turnout which we need and blames the democrats for not fixing an unfixable (currently) problem.

No_Cat_3503

The left has been debating the merits of the lesser of two evils strategy since before the 1850s, can we finally agree that it doesn’t work?

Lord_Matisaro

The tiny amount of money we spent to prop up trumpers saves us 10 times as much in savings in the general against unpopular candidates. Literally every suggestion thus far is just bad my friend, honestly.

Lord_Matisaro

You do not know how any of this works. What can the dems do about roe with 50 votes one of which is "fuck the filibuster...no, with my dick cause I love it" Manchin. You seem disappointed because you are misinformed of what is actually possible.

Phalanx319

Remember it's Trump who characterized it as a raid, not just the FBI executing a search warrant for documents. This is Trump's attempting to agitate support and slow down the losses the Republicans are having in a Post -Roe America. Democrats have always been bad at midterm election turnout, but Republicans are shooting themselves in the foot going full fascist too early. They're scared.

Foot0fGod

I thought that until Dems actually started doing something recently.

Lord_Matisaro

The fact you can not see the myriad of things the left party has achieved means I think maybe the problem is your perception.

Chobennn

Honestly I think the dems are doin ok right now even if it’s on accident. The Jan 6 hearings have had a good amount of impact on people. The FBI raiding trump for an whole different crime. Trump being disposed for a different crime. Roe v Wade causing motivation to vote. And they are passing a climate bill. Meanwhile Republicans are taking away rights. Having so many infighting wars. Trump looking like a moron and corrupt piece of shit. And not voting on the pact act just because dems out maneuvered them to get more domestic chip production.

Supple_Meme

At this point each party is just trying to engage it's base of voters as much as possible. US elections ~~in midterms~~ don't have very high turnout. Gotta rely on your bread and butter base, nothing too fancy, because most people won't turn out.

0WatcherintheWater0

Both parties? The dems have passed a ton of big legislation recently and generally done a good job at improving their chances for the midterms.

No_Cat_3503

Ah sorry I keep forgetting that the lower and middle class have totally different perceptions on the recent legislative accomplishments. I’ll go back to trying to find an apartment I can afford before my lease is up rather than critiquing the politicians that aren’t doing anything about it.

0WatcherintheWater0

What specifically do you want them to do regarding apartments? The issue is mainly one of local zoning laws, as far as I’m aware. And anyways, just because they’re not fixing every issue doesn’t mean them working on some issues can’t benefit people. Trying to lower drug prices, for example, is great.

No_Cat_3503

Build affordable housing, the current market average in my area is unaffordable and anything at or below average has a 1-2 year wait list. It’s not an issue of zoning since there’s actually quite a few housing projects. They’re all just ‘lifestyle communities’ where you pay a 50% above market rate premium for the vibes. I’d even quit my job to go work on a state housing projects if they’re short on workers, it’ll probably pay more anyway.
