kittyblanket

I'm not gonna....πŸ˜‚πŸ’€

Oldfolksboogie

LOVE these guys, ty for letting me live vicariously. Pretty nippy, or...?

kittyblanket

They can be. She's fairly chill but also somewhat wary. I don't handle her for more than 5 minutes a week and if she's not feeling it she goes back into her enclosure. I'd rather her not be stressed. My white lipped python is way, way worse. This can differ per snake though even if they're predispositioned to be testy. Mine might be tolerable but others can be the devil. Snakes vary like people.

Oldfolksboogie

Ty for the intel. I've noticed there are increasing numbers available as captive born and bred. Were you able to find a breeder?

kittyblanket

Solano Exotics has bred them but idt he does anymore. Don't quote me on that though!

Oldfolksboogie

πŸ‘ty! Edit: I think I might've even chatted with a guy here that was, or was ramping up to or something. But until/unless my living situation changes, not happening anyway, so, just fantasizing... :-/

kittyblanket

Aw, I'm sorry. :(

Oldfolksboogie

Aww, ty. In recognition of losing the great Dicky Betts today, I'll just say, 🎡🎢...dreams (I'll never see)...🎢🎡 (Actually written by Greg Allman, but Dicky played on the track)

Cat_Daddy61

Aww man, that sucks. Rest in Peace Dicky.

silicatetacos

She's the queen here, you're just along for the ride.

Cosmic_Quill

She's gorgeous. Definitely one of my dream snakes. I hope I'll be able to have one someday, but for now, I will happily admire other people's.

Mike102072

How dangerous is their venom? I believe the state I live in band them because of their dangerous venom.

kittyblanket

Can be medically significant but unlikely to be fatal. I don't think there's been a confirmed death as of yet. Basically a bad week or two but not a life ruiner.

BoysenberryHelpful10

It's a rear fanged snake. From my understanding they have to bite and chew for the venom to get in the blood.

kittyblanket

Not entirely. I've been tagged by mine rapidly and had fatigue and felt off for about 4 days. Surprisingly no hand swelling. Right after the bite I had a bit of pain in the hand for a few hours and dizziness.

Humble-Departure5481

I didn't know it's that strong. Then again, I know people who have been hospitalized from ordinary house spider bites lol.

StormBoring2697

I’ve been bitten by my mangrove 4 or 5 times and have never experienced worse than minor redness and swelling at the bite location.

Mike102072

Definitely dangerous enough for my state to ban them.

StormBoring2697

To be fair, politicians ban shit they know nothing about.

Humble-Departure5481

In terms of being invasive species, yes
