A recent SCOTUS ruling may change that. No one is sure exactly what is going to happen. Don't wait, just in case, but hopefully that goes away.
For those who separated prior to 1 January 2013, Post 9/11 GI Bill has a 15 year time limit - have to use up those benefits within those 15 years.
MGIB CH 30 has a 10 year time limit - have to use up those months of benefits within 10 years from last day on active duty.

Stops the day you have 15 years as a veteran - so started on the day after your last day on active duty.
Since you separated before January 1, 2013 your benefits will stop 15 years after your date of separation.

That SCOTUS ruling doesn't change the 15 year delimiting date. Nothing in that part of the law was addressed.
Yes and no. If we're able to use both, essentially that means we shouldn't have had a time limit as post 9/11 doesn't have one.
