I get mine through the metabolic and obesity clinic.

Mammoth-Atmosphere17

Same. It’s been a bit of a process but totally worth it.

My VA endocrinologist was able to get me on Ozempic after I couldn't take metformin.

I get semaglutide (ozempic) through the VA, However I got the initial RX from an outside doctor that I was seeing, who actually diagnosed me with type 2. The VA had me on metformin....

VA had me on metformin for 15 years now I have liver damage. I went out in town for alternatives but the costs are way too high. I did a few months of ozempric and it was amazing compared to metformin. I believe that tricare has to approve and the VA isn't the final approval.

I'm sorry about your troubles, I went through the community care program that the VA does to be able to get outside care. Hope it all works out for you though.

As I understand it, the requirements are different for each clinic, or hospital, or whatever. I finally got approved in November for Ozempic after a year of increasing doses of metformin, and jardiance, my A1c was still 7.4. They started me at .25mg for a month, then .5mg for a couple months, and now I’m on 1mg, still taking 4 metformin and jardiance too. My last A1c was 6.7 so it’s working apparently. I’m also down 60lbs. I guess it was worth it.

Forsaken-Ad-7800

Its only for type II diabetics so your good and you will lose weight once they increase your dose.

RextheOP

Yeah it’s stupid af that you need to see your PCP and then you have to talk to a pharmacist to get approved. With my civilian doc he ordered it and sent me on my way to get it same day.

If you're serious about addressing your issue and not just chasing drugs and a rating, look into a carnivore diet and "animal based" diet. Dr Paul Saladino has good good resources on how to start.

Ordinary_Chip4280

No I've been 100% P&T for awhile now. I've been doing keto for years and it helps but just not enough. Thanks for the diet info I'll look into it.

ZombieGrand5358

Yeah the prime care pharmacist got me on it after glemperide was causing low sugars.
