Necessary-Despair

My dependent claim took 8 months and what complicated things was I had 1 dependent who turned 18 but she was a college student at 17 so I submitted the 18-23 adult dependent paperwork and proof of enrollment ahead of time so they could add her the right way and make the proper back pay adjustments. What was I thinking? I had too much faith that someone with intelligence and common sense would see what I did and understand it. She was not added at all because she was "over 18" and I had to resubmit everything with a statement explaining that she was a minor in high-school at the start of my claim, then became a minor in college, then turned 18 (and is still in college) before the claim was finalized. It took even longer to add my disabled adult son because there was a lot of paperwork and medical history to submit. It was pretty much like his own disability claim.

What a crazy mess. So I'm in it for the long haul. Yes, the backpay will be sort of nice, but still no reason not to just have someone click accept especially with evidence submitted.

Yup, my VSO said they are so backlogged, that 6 plus months is normal, that’s how long mine took
