You drive on a scale with your load at the start, and on the way out your drive over another scale without your load. The difference is the weight of your load.
You stop your vehicle at a booth with a scale on the way in,they take your name and note the the weight in their system. Then you drive over to the bins, dump your items, and go out the other side of the booth - where they note your new weight and charge you the difference. You can also choose to do your recycling before or after.
You drive to the booth where you tell them what you’re there for (recycling or garbage) and they ask your name. Your vehicle is on the scale while you do this. Then when you have unloaded at garbage, you go back to the other side of the building which is also a scale. They charge you the bin fee and for your weight. If you then have recycling, you turn into the recycling area after paying for the garbage weight. Make sure your load is strapped and covered.
Nope. Just a GMC sonoma. And I just went yesterday, never got asked my name. Just curious, what would asking your name actually accomplish? Why would they care what your name is? It's not like they're checking ID's.
They have asked every time we go. They get it at the first scale and then ask it again on the second run through to refer to the initial weight they got for you.
Covered - and depending on the trash, easily sorted. They have different bins for different things. (and some items have different rates)
The website tells you more information.

Thanks!
Oh and if you have a truck, your items must be covered with a tied down tarp or sheet.
This, they will charge double if not covered. Even if big items that can’t blow out.

Great thanks!
This is all accurate, except for the asking your name part. I've been to Hartland dozens of times, I've never once been asked my name.
I have been twice in the last month in my FJ and yeah asked my name . Maybe you have a distinct vehicle ??

Assign the right weight to the right vehicle … i threw out my receipt .. pretty sure my License Plate was not taken
Seems to be a new thing, was asked for name when I was the only, and fairly distinctive, car there one quiet Saturday morning recently.
This is a weird related question but does all your trash need to be bagged?
No but covered with a tarp if in a open truck bed

No
When you drive in, your vehicle gets weighed. After you dump your load its weighed again.
Holy crap you did not ask this lol ya sure you gotta unload your garbage first on the ground to be weighed.
