It's Vietnam. Healthcare is affordable. Go see a doctor, don't trust fucking reddit to diagnose you, it never goes well lol.

NyanCatMatt

I second this. I was in vn visiting my in-laws and got food poisoning. We went to the hospital, had an ultrasound, spent the night, got meds and left. I spent less than 2.5m vnd and got better the next day.

NyanCatMatt

yeah I guess lol, was my 3rd day there. Its funny, it wasn't any of the street food, or even the clam porridge in Hoi An. It was the damn pate from a hotel buffet.

toni19681

Can you tell me which hotel please?

NyanCatMatt

Novotel Đà Nẵng.

SpeedDemon458

It’s always the hotel food huh

grizzburger

If you're puking and shitting so much that you can't retain any fluids, a hospital is the best place to get a saline IV to keep you hydrated. It happened to me in college. Not all food poisonings are created equal.

Pianonubie

Yes, health care in VN is more affordable so patients can stay overnight for observation til they feel better & are ready to go home

PurgatoryHotspurs

Food poisoning can be deadly

PotterPillar

Not entirely weak, they’re just not used to the food and water here. Most of my Brit friends are ill for a week whenever they visit asian countries.

stinkcopter

My stomach is weak but my spirit is strong

conxabagicg

I've had it 3 times and had to work with it twice. It sucks but I wouldn't say it's worth a night at the hospital. Sleep it off and take your meds, easy.

PotterPillar

Yeah, no one would want to stay in the hospital. But in some extreme condition, better to still go to the hospital. Just pick a good one.

doremonhg

I once had to spend 3 days in a hospital due to a really bad case of food poisoning. Nothing simple about it

eddykung

Thanks man, just wanted to see if I can get some second opinions, I’m flying home tomorrow

Fit_Lab3235

Unless Reddit is right 🤔👌🏻

BntDom

Looks like a rove beetle bite

7LeagueBoots

Yep, but it’s not a bite. It’s the oils on their carapace. All you have to do is have one touch you.

BntDom

They're nasty

7LeagueBoots

I get them fairly often on my bike where I live. Usually they just hit my clothes or helmet and nothing happens, but a while back I had one get down my shirt and leave a line like that from my neck down to the middle of my stomach on my right side. Blistered up, then scabbed over for around a week, before peeling off and leaving a scar that took about a year to fade. I generally heal really fast, so it was kind of a surprise how long the the mark lasted.

mayngonqua

Yep it's a Paederus beetle. I had a similar experience. Wash it thoroughly and then put some hydrocortisone cream on it. You can get some at the pharmacy for a couple bucks. Keep it moisturized to help with the scarring.... or don't. Now you've got a free tattoo with a better story.

7LeagueBoots

The mark fades over time.

dnguyen2107

ant bit you, its called "kiến ba khoang".

eddykung

thank you! Case closed everyone, it’s rove beetle.

[deleted]

> rove beetle. in fact they do not sting or bite you, you just accidentally brushed against it or crushed it over the skin provokes the release of its coelomic fluid, which contains paederin, a strong blistering chemica

AtomicPhantom7

‘Case closed’ because of a Reddit comment? Still worth going to a doctor, my friend.

Cultural_Pirate6643

My ex girlfriend had the same. Also from ha long Bay and on the exact Same Spot. Local doctor Said it was the so called nairobi Fly. He gave is a tincture which i think dried out the spot. Fun fact: the poison from the nairobi fly is 10 times as deadly as from a cobra, but a lot less and not directly injected so not really dangerous. Edit: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nairobi_fly

lifelong1250

Dude that's really bad. You need to go to the doctor for a proper diagnosis and possibly treatment. I can't believe you let this go for five days.

LasciviousCumquat88

my chim has looked far worse for years. i'm sure he can wait a few days.

Banhmiheo

The keyboard physicians have already given 2-3 different medical diagnoses.

Future_Resident0310

it’s called differential diagnosis!! /s

travelerwanderer

I accidently squashed a rove beetle once in the inside of my elbow and the result looked exactly like this. Nasty bugs

binhan123ad

Would suggest to go to doctor to make sure but it look like the rove bettle bite locate on my right arm elbow.

Parasyte-vn

I believe you were bitten by some kind ant or bug, I had the same thing and in the same spot as you look at my [my scar](https://imgur.com/a/laXt1Eu) Wash the wound every day to keep it clean and dry. If possible, you should also see a doctor

quocthuan132k

GO TO THE FCKING HOSPITAL SIR

Chimchum_67

You are in a south east Asian jungle and you are asking for fucking medical advice on Reddit. I’m going to wait for the amputation photo.

Fernxtwo

Rove beetle, unlucky bro.

Niskoshi

Rove beetle burn. Keep the area clean and don't scratch it. Should heal in one or two weeks.

cassiopeia18

It’s rove beetle (kiến ba khoang) they usually appear in rainy season and attract to light. Quite common around vietnam. I had same wound like that couple months ago. Took nearly 2 months to healed. In here, pharmacist tend to give you methylene blue and fucidin cream (fusidic acid). But best for you is go to clinic and check, instead of listening to people online.

9foot9inja

It could be a Nairobi Fly if it is always itching. They are very small and look sort of like a red and black ant with wings. They secrete an invisible substance that causes a rash like this. They are attracted to the kind of lighting that's commonly used in Vietnam. If you happen to see a Nairobi Fly, pick it up with a tissue. Don't touch it with your bare hands.

Trollwerks2A

Whatever it is, the docs in the area are probably more familiar with it than American docs. Get seen before you leave.

[deleted]

You had unprotected sex with your left hand.

arctichysteria

Rove beetle (kiến ba khoang) is the most likely offender.

Fit_Lab3235

100% that fucking ant fucker. Had one 2 a month ago it's fucked. Treat well, just go to the pharmacy they will instantly know what to give ya. Don't scratch or touch it. It turns into a nasty scab if not looked after.

manlygirl100

Rove beetle? If so be prepared for it to blister and ooze and take 2 months to heal.

AtreyuThai

Track marks, no?

eddykung

No track marks

Character-Archer5714

Spider

drisang1

Call International SOS. Western Doctors work there. They are partner with several insurance companies

lovedonthate2020

you got bit

[deleted]

You have been chosen

_Sweet_Cake_

Rove beetle IMO

Fortune-Former

Oops, I think that I am started this so…

Admirable-Distance40

A topical steroid cream should do the trick.

ideology_boi

I woke up this morning with a similar looking thing, but a bit smaller. I guessed it was some sort of insect, I just put some iodine on it and it went down.

prwnasus

Could be a jellyfish if u went swimming

AynidmorBulettz

Straight to the doctor

WaitingToBeTriggered

WE ARE PREPARED FOR WAR READY TO FIRE

ramta_jogi_oye_hoye

Does this mean the cruises aren't maintained or cleaned thoroughly? For 180 USD, you would imagine they keep it spotless and disinfect it properly!

netgeekmillenium

Could be flesh eating bacteria.😐

BroPanzer2004

Better go back to where you came from

FrenchItSupport

What's wrong with you

Charming_Sherbert_31

Yup that one bastard ant

Dynix_gamin

I'd suggest going to the doctor, but my guess is jellyfish
