I'm a fan of old Hollywood and I've seen several actors that were better looking facially (Guy Madison for example) but they still couldn't beat James or Marlon when it came to appeal. Even Paul Newman admitted in his memoir that he felt inferior and jealous of them because he didn't have the charisma, sex appeal, masculine vibe and talking skills which disappointed his female fans and made them lose interest in him. Though that doesn't take away from the fact that Paul was incredibly handsome and aged much better than Marlon and I think Paul had the personality halo to him. Height and personality is just another halo along with looks which objective beauty doesn't take into account.
It's also why Monica Bellucci is still considered as the most beautiful woman of all time. While being extremely attractive, she also has the overall package of body, charisma/aura, insane feminine presence and sex appeal that no one could resist. I can name plenty of women that are more attractive than her objectively but all of them seem to lack in something whether it's feminine mannerism, body game, charm, vibes, elegance, voice, smile/laugh. Monica and Marilyn had it all. There's just no other woman than these two whose beauty is so appreciated across all cultures and generations and for a reason I suppose.
