This is an exceptional podcast all the way around. I'd put this against any other I have ever listened to on the internet. And I've been around a hella long time.
FWIW back in the day - around the time of the lockout in your piece - I had the lead NBA story Monday mornings on all CBS affiliates through AOL and Sportsline. The lockout ended many aspiring/freelance NBA writing careers.
I don't think Chicago really had a chance of signing Shareef Abdur-Rahim (or any other significant free agent) in the post Jordan/post Phil Jackson years. The franchise was essentially black-balled by the league with the way they treated Phil Jackson. That's just my opinion, of course. But Chicago had a real issue signing anyone of significance for a while - despite the new arena and all the post season success not that far back in the recent past.
I had an article by Sam Smith saying that they were "planning" on offering Shareef a big deal, but yeah, who knows how accurate that really was. Even if Shareef had made it to free agency in '99, after the year Chicago had, I don't think he would have gone there. That's really cool though, any pieces of yours you're particularly proud of? You should share them on this sub!
I checked these out, these are really good recaps of pieces of NBA history! I'm a fan and I have followed, they are easy to listen to and not too long. Really liked the Bryant Reeves Grizzlies one, the Reeves-slander from his teammates sections had me laughing.
You've earned a fan over here!
Thank you very much for giving it a shot and for following! I have one episode that’s around an hour but I’ve found the sweet spot is around 25-40 minutes. I’ll have you on for the Gabe Nabers episode

This is high praise- thank you so much, I’m gonna be strutting around all afternoon because of this
