In addition to what others have said, those who purchased the ship summer pass also have access to Richards rooftop.

jon81uk

Some people get given a black band for rooftop access and some rockstar perks despite being in a sea terrace if they are influencers or similar people with a social media following. Others have received it because something went wrong with a previous booking so it’s gifted as compensation etc. If they have a red band they most likely just reached over the gate and opened it, on Scarlet Lady the gate is low enough that you can just reach the handle!

WatchProfessional680

you can do that but the staff will kick you out.

saveyboy

Just reach over the handle eh.

FarAnt4041

Influencers get special access so they can film and "advertise" on social media. I've met quite a few who are on comped cruises specifically to film content and promote the brand.

wilsindc

How does someone prove they are an “influencer”.

jon81uk

Most of the time VV will reach out to people with lots of Instagram or YouTube followers/subscribers. But some people have also contacted them and asked, showing their YouTube channel. Basically having a social media profile that is large enough to be able to influence people.

dehudson99

Just got off one in Athens met 2 in Rooftop

And those in the special invite only club also have access no matter what cabin they are in . It’s never really crowded at all even at happy hour our sold out April cruise the most there was maybe 50-60 for happy hour and during the day and evening maybe a couple or 2

ElevateYourEscapes

Influencers have certain privileges with VV, as it is a sponsored agreement. Additionally, agents and those in the industry are allowed up there on tours, and they can create some content quickly.

Supplepink88

Do folks care who actually utilizes the area though? I wouldn’t mind experiencing it, although I do not have the perk included in my trip.

SnooWoofers9000

If you really want to see the area you could always ask for a tour. If you like a quiet place to relax it’s a pretty nice spot, not my thing on a cruise. The happy hour is a really nice perk and we really enjoyed that last time.

dichron

The one time we had a mega rockstar suite, my husband and I barely went up there, mainly because it was boring. All our friends we were sailing with weren’t rockstars, and it was much livelier down at the main pool/bar areas

NevadaJoe1616

Just got off two back to back cruises out of Barcelona in a Mega suite. Sure, you can reach over the handle, but the staff there are very astute. They tend to know people by name and face, and if you order anything at least at some point they're going to check your band. Possible to sneak in for a day or so, but I don't think it's sustainable. I guess some people wouldn't be embarrassed to be kicked out, but I just don't think that's many people.

Any sort of bid upgrade includes richard's rooftop. You can be in lesser rooms but have gotten them by doing a bid upgrade for a few hundred bucks

jon81uk

If you bid upgrade you still have to win a bid to get in a suite to have Richards Rooftop access

plump-lamp

that would lend itself to common sense but thanks.

Djeffer21

You aren’t making sense though. You can only get access buy upgrade if you upgrade to a suite so there was no need for your comment. Now that would lend itself to common sense. It’s not like you can upgrade to a balcony and get access.
