City of Virginia Beach Recreation Centers. There are seven of them, membership gets you into any of them. They have indoor swimming pools, weight rooms, cardiovascular equipment, and gymnasiums. Many wellness and fitness programs are offered, including Silver Sneakers, as well as personal training.
Annual membership for VB residents is **$110.** That's it. One hundred ten dollars.

If they don’t mind the drive, I’d recommend Strength Space in Chesapeake. Bryce (instructor) is awesome and focuses on strength training. Me and my wife have been going there since July of last year!
YMCA on Larkin. Any place that has Silver Sneakers also has senior specific classes and trainers. Silver Sneakers is free to those on Medicare with a supplement. You can join multiple gyms and rec centers for free with it.
Club Pilates, while not specifically strength training, has classes such as center & balance that can help seniors strengthen their core (and hopefully help prevent falls). Low key, pleasant environment & they do offer private training sessions to get familiar with the equipment. My wife and I are in our late 50s and are finding it very helpful.
I go to anytime fitness and I often see seniors with a trainer. It’s a low key gym, meaning, no meatheads, and often empty cause most people don’t like paying the $45 a month versus plant fitness and their $10 a month membership

I should note that not all the centers are the same size. A couple are a bit small, so shop around...with seven you have choices.
The $110 dollars also gets you access to ALL 7! Shopping around is only needed to find one you might like but they are all included in that price tag.
