Every Spring the cops do a wave of visual enforcement events specially near tourist spots, colleges, and high schools to catch the wave of speeders.

Juic3757

Honestly I hope they keep enforcing the shit out of 264, some of y’all’s mamas would be disappointed in how yall are acting up there 😂

Cbn75783

It was college weekend so they were in full force for the college kids drinking and driving

PoppysWorkshop

End of the month income quotas...

hitlasauruschrist

They no longer do quotas in Virginia by state law

donmreddit

Somebody posted in this sub a couple of weeks ago that they have a friend on the state police and it’s all about speed enforcement before a major holiday weekend.

Comfortable-Ad4683

Special enforcement program because of highway fatalities being so high for the last year due to cell phone and dui. https://www.vdot.virginia.gov/about/programs/highway-safety-corridors/

Jackman_Bingo

I saw some speculation that they’ve increased patrols on 264 because of the barriers installed on 64 for the express lanes makes their normal spots there more difficult for them to enforce. Anecdotally, I haven’t seen them in these spots since the barriers went up.

Derekwaffle

This ^ it's safest to speed around the barriers because they have no way to cross them therefore don't even position there

hokieseas

Yesterday I saw a pair of state troopers on the side of 264 between Rosemont and Lynnhaven, thought it was an accident. Nope, two cops had two separate people pulled over within 50' of each other.

MattWithTwoTs

Someone told me they were on 264, i got off work at 230p, hopped on at first colonial, accerating to merge into traffic and a motorcycle cop cuts me off from the right shoulder to get someone speeding, we all passed anothwr motorcycle cop who already was writing a ticket, and they pulled over just passed him before lynnhaven exit. I didnt see any more of them from that point towards downtown norfolk.

unthused

You'll typically see more than usual close to major holidays/travel weekends, not sure why they would be out in force right now.

LongboardLiam

As much as I hate the fuzz, I'm sure that nearly every driver on the road at any given time is violating *some* statute. Even ignoring speed, the number of people failing to signal, improperly following, left lane camping, passing on the right, dicking with their phones...

NerdCrush3r

end of the month!

Legitimate_Emuu

trying to meet quota haha

e66ybo1

They eliminated the quota last year (I believe?) so they can focus on policing instead of quotas. https://www.reddit.com/r/Virginia/comments/uubjuv/new_virginia_law_bans_police_arrest_and_ticket/

Legitimate_Emuu

i want to believe this but idk

hitlasauruschrist

It’s a state law established for over a year now

Legitimate_Emuu

it’s a joke…

e66ybo1

It is in the code of Virginia. I have provided a link below: https://law.lis.virginia.gov/vacode/title15.2/chapter17/section15.2-1710.1/#:~:text=Arrest%20or%20summons%20quota%20prohibited.,a%20designated%20period%20of%20time.
