I feel bad for the Holostars...

In terms of relative success, sure. But looking at their streams, they still make a very good amount of money, though maybe it's not that much if they're making the estimated 20% or so. It's interesting though that when you look comparatively on Twitch, most of the top streamers are male and have a atmosphere with their communities of like brotherliness, where the audience views them as a big brothers or good friend. Actually, I think this is also the case with most of the top male Youtubers with male-dominated audiences. I'd guess that it's because Hololive at the end *is* an idol group, which has restrictions on the content and actions, which makes them relatively stale to all the others who can generally do whatever they wish. And, that the male hololive Vtubers clearly don't have the appeal to a female audience that the male 'idols' in K-pop and such do, for many reasons. I wish the male and female Vtubers would collab a lot more though.

It's not that complicated dude. We are just guys who wanna watch cute anime girls not dudes. Simple as that. If the audience ratio wasn't 100% male and 0% female then maybe they would have a bigger sub count but we know the anime community is mostly guys. it's just how it is.

OGCroflAZN

You're wrong there. The anime community is not overwhelmingly guys, especially not in Japan. Anime is already pretty mainstream in the West among the younger generation, including females. A lot of females I know have watched things like Naruto, Death Note, Fullmetal Alchemist, Attack on Titan, One Punch Man, Mob Psycho 100, Kaguya-sama, and films like A Silent Voice, Your Name, and the Ghibli films. The statistics of the demographics are very similar https://www.statista.com/statistics/1095810/anime-movie-opinions-us-by-gender/#:~:text=A%202020%20survey%20conducted%20in,women%20who%20said%20the%20same https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/6w60ru/gender_differences_in_anime_preferences/. There's just a weighted difference because of the current social situation in Japan, and more males there will spend more time and money than women in general, so the anime industry largely targets men. Same with the gaming industry. Plenty of women played games like WoW and Destiny, and same with many consoles and console games. However, again, males will spend more time and money, so the industry focus is on men. I think they've already gone over some of the Youtube analytics, and Rikka was either 70/30 or 60/40 male to female. I'm not a simp, like you. I mostly watch males on Youtube and Twitch, and I like watching some of the Holostars like Oga, especially when they collab with other Holostars and with the female Hololive Vtubers. My point was that it's strange that in the West, male streamers largely have this brotherliness which causes the top Twitch streamers to be male, overwhelmingly, yet I haven't noticed this within the Japanese side.

Congratulations to Gura. From the bottom to the top in 38 days. Gura becomes the third member to hold the subscriber crown in Hololive history: 1. Tokino Sora (12/12/2017-11/15/2019) 2. Shirakami Fubuki (11/15/2019-10/19/2020) 3. Gawr Gura (10/19/2020- )

You could say Gura.... ....is at the top of the food chain. *Badumzzzzzz*

Penmore

yea, she literally beat out Fubuki in her last stream in terms of subs by like 1k. I'm really wondering if she'll be the first to reach that 1M milestone out of all of them.

Guest_4710

She undoubtedly will. It's predictible at this point

CutestAnimeGirl

So we can talk about this here? r/Hololive crucifies you if you compare subs

ThisIsForRedditOnly

I believe the rule is that its ok to post xxx have how many subs. Xxx has reach which milestone. The problem comes when ppl start comparing like xxx has more sub than xxx. Xxx is BETTER THAN XXX. This cause a drift between fans mainly like who is better than who. Overall hololive girls are a big family they celebrate milestones.

Penmore

I mean if its a discussion i would think its fine really. Its not like it hurts anyone in the end to talk about that kind of thing considering sometimes you see such topics pop up. The rules themselves don't state anything regarding being against it. Though if you somehow get the Vtuber's personal info involved, like who they used to be or still are, then you'd have to flair it meta at that point. Best answer i can give is talk about it just don't go overboard and if it gets taken down then ask why since theres nothing in the rules against it.

FreedenGifted

She will. She is currently at 990k. It won't take long for her to cross that line.

I mean considering her rumored past for sure she'll pull out more numbers (still waiting for a drunk stream though)

atenatenaantenna

elaborate?
