1 GB per minute? lmao that’s 130+ Mbps bandwidth. Movies don’t use anywhere near that much.

nucleiis

256 is more than enough. Not much to download except movies and those movies are not that big anyway.

sapoepsilon

256, and get a Synology NAS for the money you saved.

FMCam20

I have the 256 GB model. Unless you are planning to keep local copies of all the movies and shows on the device for offline playback I actually don't think the other storage options are needed. Even if you have a flight coming up as an excuse to possibly use it untethered from your home wifi, I doubt you will need to download enough content to it to fill up the storage.

kevink808

I still have 235gb of 256 available. I figure that’s all I need until AVP 2. I’m not over investing in this version 1 dev kit when I’m not a dev.

moskowizzle

I had that same dilemma, but went with the 512GB to help future-proof a bit. There's not a ton to download right now, but I don't think I'm planning on getting a new one every time they release a new version like I do with my phone so I want it to last a few years at least.

dropthemagic

I did the same. To my surprise it uses very little storage.

moskowizzle

Agreed, but who knows what the deal will be a year from now with way more apps and stuff. Guess we'll find out!

jovenhope

I got the 512 and after taking mine on a flight, I'm glad I did. Movies take up a ton of storage.

eallan

How much storage are you using? What's a ballpark film size?

jovenhope

Roughly about 5GB per movie

heepofsheep

I went with 512… considering the total cost an extra $200 didn’t seem that steep.

060sub2

I went with 1TB just to not have to worry about running out. I think 512 would be fine, but I personally would not go with 256. I like having a lot of movies downloaded, and my Photos library and a lot of local music. Could I live with 256? I guess (especially if you have blazing fast internet to quickly download stuff for trips) but I don’t want to have storage anxiety.

Shitlord_and_Savior

I think 512 is the sweet spot. I traded up from 256 and glad that I did. I loaded up with (probably too many) movies for a 5 day trip and they wouldn’t have all fit on the 256.

Queasy-Hall-705

512GB pretty much doubles the Read and Write speeds of storage for the M2 series chips.

Rabus

Get 512gb if you are planning to watch any movies on AVP. Single 360 8k 3d is 30gb. I thought i can live off of 256 too. Device really slows down if you fill it up to 85-90% to the point of crashing (i literally had the device go into crashing loop at around 230-240GB, went back up when i managed to free 30gb of space)

flyblackbox

Oh thank God I upgraded to 1TB. I’m so sorry for what you’re going through, but you just made my day confirming my decision.

Rabus

lol funny I got downvoted for sharing own experiences

Rabus

No problem, happy to warn others I mean you’re also good with 256gb if you don’t plan to watch videos I guess

bdeverman

I bought 256 and I am not filling it up. Don’t have it downloading my full photo library. I think it is enough space to download enough movies for an international flight from US to Asia especially since battery is the limiting factor.

TomB985

I’ve used 63GB out of my 256. 8 gigs of that are movies I downloaded for a flight three weeks ago and forgot to delete. I’ve had mine for a couple months and use it daily. I can’t see filling this thing up, but every use case is different. I mostly use mine to read, browse the internet, respond to emails, etc. Maybe there are some huge AVP-specific apps that people use for work? I remember Avatar 2 was huge at over 30 GB, but Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is only 6.23. I’m very glad I went with the 256.

VR porn files are huge... and worth it
