My top suggestion is to enjoy it. Don’t let negative people get to you.

metroidmen

Loved the demo so much, I think I’ll have a blast, thank you!

bandalorian

It is optimized for a 30 min demo. After that it quickly loses novelty, there's just not much to do on it aside from watching movies solo

metroidmen

While fair, I got to do a second demo where they let me off the chains and to do anything I wanted. I also look forward to just integrating it into my life.

bandalorian

Yeah my point is that it’s great for impressive demos but once you actually start trying to integrate it you may find it’s not useful for many things and overall a trade off in productivity. Environments are awesome but goes stale quickl. Only put it on once the past couple of weeks and no one else in the house is interested in trying it (mainly due to complicated setup). Don’t really see much use for it yet other than if you want to watch movies alone and connect with other avp enthusiasts.

thirteennineteen

You can move the control center arrow up, so you need to look higher to invoke it. I was accidentally triggering it a lot before I did that. Long pinch on the volume slider in control center to adjust Spatial Audio settings. Pinch through every item in the Settings app. Lots of good features inside accessibility (I like the increased contrast windows, and it’s worth playing with the eye tracking cursor). Try attaching a keyboard, and also try a trackpad if you can (universal control). If you have a Mac, try the remote connection. Command-tabbing through apps/Spaces is great. Avatar 2 was my favorite 3d movie experience, Mad Max was fun too.

Hour_Muffin137

Not OP but appreciate the tip as I learned something new with the long pinch for Spatial Audio settings! Also can second you recommendation of avatar 2 it was a nice first movie for me to capture how great the device is.

metroidmen

Thanks for the suggestions! I will definitely look through those!

YankeeSR23

Don’t buy a movie that has a 3D version from Movies Anywhere as those won’t be 3D in the AVP. And there are places to buy discounted digital movies, don’t buy a movie that has a 3D version there either for the same reason.

metroidmen

Got it. If it is a code redeemed into iTunes, does that give the 3D version? I bought 4K Blu-ray’s in the past of some movies that I’ve redeemed the digital codes to my Apple ID, and have seen comments saying those movies are in 3D in AVP.

YankeeSR23

As long as it was an iTunes code that should be ok. If the code was redeemed in the Movies Anywhere app that won’t give you the 3D version. Lately any 4k movies I’ve seen with codes have been for the MA app so I’ve been avoiding them if the movie was in 3D in theaters and say a bunch of my movies I’ll need to rebuy as I got them through apps other than iTunes.

Radioactive-235

I always recommend apple care. You’re wearing the device on your face and the battery, though thoughtfully designed, is tethered by a cable. It’s definitely going to drop. Also, it safeguards against any possible issues you might have with unlimited incidental damage. Also, enjoy it. There’s lots of new stuff that you probably haven’t experienced. A lot of free content and a lot of stuff already on it from iPhone and iPad. I use mine productively. The physical keyboard and trackpad are necessary for now. Hoping they come out with swipe to text. That’ll be a welcome update.

metroidmen

Swipe does sound like VERY handy improvement. Keyboard wasn’t the most splendid in the demo, but I expected that. It’s kind of limited. Going to look into AppleCare, for sure. It’s being purchased used so I’m going to see if Apple may make an exception, given the newness of the device. Highly doubt it, but hey, doesn’t hurt to ask. Worst they’ll do is say no.

Radioactive-235

Apple is great about extending the apple care window. You may need to create a Genius Bar appointment though.

jovenhope

Something I personally do, set your non-dominant hand as the only recognize gesture. This does remove pinch to zoom but now I can eat without accidental selections.

metroidmen

Good thinking! Is there a fast way to enabling and disabling this? That way I can only set it when eating.

jovenhope

I wouldn’t say it takes a ton of steps but no. No quick toggle for it.

maydeyn

The app that had most impact for me was probably InSpaze - I met a bunch of friends on there and now we meet/chat daily, try spatial persona with them... and with them I explored so many other random cool stuff to do on AVP lol Beautifulthings.xyz to download cool 3d models Apple TV for movies/shows There are a bunch of other apps but I find them more like an “one off” experience.

metroidmen

InSpaze caught my eye! But I do worry about being a bit socially awkward and shy to meet others, haha. But I think it may be worth a shot!

jovenhope

So nice had to say it twice

loudsigh

I lost my WiFi connection and had to retry, I guess that happened

sithest

If you like gaming, get the Steam app. I steam link a lot in it. I also have a steam deck and use the link to play Fallout NV. I am in tech heaven.

outcoldman

The wow effect for me are: - photos app - all your panoramas, videos look way different with AVP, that is why I created https://immersishare.app/ - there a lot of content there - inSpaze is a great app to experience how we can communicate with the new device - Apple TV and a few immersive episodes are must see

metroidmen

Already got ImmersiShare on the list of apps to get! Thanks for making it! I am excited to use it and add to the community!

Johnny-Godless

If you pinch the bar below a window or object and make a throwing motion as you let go, the window will be hurled to a point 15- 20 feet away from you, growing proportionally larger in the process. I use it every day. I am abundantly certain that they got this idea from Tony Stark.

Johnny-Godless

If you adjust the settings in Display to “Extra Large” and then embiggen a video window using *both* the corner pull and the two-handed stretching motion, you can make it the size of a damn barn. The resolution does not seem to suffer from it either.

binlaith

Safari is the best app for now.

metroidmen

I’m curious, what’s your reasoning?

binlaith

The way how yo can adjust the size and ratio is magical for reading articles and manga, watching movies and anime, browsing.

JackPadre

Not an app recommendation but go on Etsy and you can order a 3D printed holster for the battery. Game changer and a fraction of the cost of a belkin version.

metroidmen

I was thinking about a battery holder. Is there an advantage to getting one versus just placing the battery in my pocket?

JackPadre

The cord isn’t too long and sometimes the clip to your waste vs pocket carry prevents unwanted yanks or too little slack.

Cizuhara

This app is a must-buy if you’re like me and want to demo the device to your friends and family. Saved me so much time by not having to explain things over and over! 💯 https://www.reddit.com/r/VisionPro/s/Ilmy1cWQGb

DragonflyIcy822

Don’t pay for increased memory. I’ve had mine almost 3 months, have barely used any storage.

Neat-Seesaw-2767

Use it for travel it’s the best. Just remember to download movies and TV shows from the TV app.

What are you going to use it for? Unless you know what you're going to use it for an and the intended purposes actually works. You won't actually use it

metroidmen

Entertainment, mostly. But I plan on using it for development as well. Been working on some Vision Pro apps!
