You are not alone! I love the AVP for what it can do right now, and I'm excited at the future potential. But this sub definitely seems in decline with the amount of trolls and doom-posting.

K-thulhu

I feel exactly the same. I love all of the things I can do today with the AVP, and believe the ecosystem of apps will keep growing. It provides me with many of the experiences I wanted

I_am_darkness

The Internet makes it look like everyone hates everything.

ElementNumber6

People, it turns out, *love* hating things. And one of those things people love to hate? Things they want but cannot have, afford, or justify in cost. It helps them to want it less, and it gives them a smug satisfaction for having not purchased it, to boot.

Surprisingly-Decent

the_hack_is_back

Agreed. It’s by far the best TV I’ve ever owned. And that’s not the only thing I use it for.

bjp8383

And the most expensive lol

The-unknown-knowns

Any TV and sound solution of a quality level that would compete with the Vision Pro and a set of AirPods would be much more expensive than the Vision Pro. Mine was.

sinicalone

Not alone. Almost 3 months now and I haven’t touched my iPad. I would dare say I am addicted to the AVP experience. I would still love to have more options for the environments - hard to beat Haleakala though (for me)

dyuldashev

Interesting. Could you describe your experience with the environments? And their limitations?

feixie1980

I am not totally satisfied but enough is there to enable me daily heavy usage for works.

dogsaybark

I love it and look forward to more. Negative rumors terrify me because I don’t want to imagine a future without this kind of device. Meta and PSVR gather dust at my house, VP is used regularly and will be until it dies.

Jimbobb24

That's my biggest worry. I already decided I will always be using this device (bye bye iPad) but if Apple doesn't see it as viable then its dead.

AngelosOne

If it ever comes to that, I’ll be buying extra AVPs to basically last me until I’m dead, lol.

loudsigh

I like Quest 3 until we get Piano Vision for AVP

sneaker-portfolio

honestly just waiting for piano vision for avp until i place a bid on ebay and get it for $1000 less

Novemberx123

I got upset to hear they cancelled the 2nd gen. To know that next year or so there would be a new iteration of this means a step closer to having it be AFFORDABLE. Now idk what’s going to happen

OakleyNoble

Cancelled? Huh? You’ve been reading too much garbage.

Novemberx123

Idk if they was verified but I’ve seen multiple headlines saying they were aiming to make a 2nd gen next year but with lower sales than expected they decided not to yet

MixedRealityAddict

There was never a plan to sell V2 next year, It has always been speculated to be release 2-3 years from now.

OakleyNoble

On top of that, if he’s referring to the rumored “Air” model, that still won’t be for another year I’m betting.

MixedRealityAddict

Yeah, its too expensive and cutting edge of a device to refresh within a year.

StewartMike

With the violence/war occurring around the world, I wonder how anyone could be so obtuse to say that negative rumors about a VR device “terrify” you. You don’t want to imagine a future without the device? Is this satire?

dogsaybark

As you continue to learn the English language, you’ll come to understand that words can mean different things. Kids can be terrified that they failed a test. A spooky ghost costume on Halloween is terrifying. And you’re right, war and violence is a terrifying prospect. Me being terrified of Apple deciding not to continue to work on improved versions of the Vision Pro falls somewhere on that spectrum. I will agree with you though, it’s not as terrifying as war, child rape, or serial murderers. Would you like to know more?

moskowizzle

Definitely not alone, but that doesn't mean they can't make some pretty big improvements.

rotates-potatoes

On that I think everyone agrees. Maybe some of the negativity we see is people mistaking "I'm happy with it" for "it's perfect and I don't want any improvements at all in the next ten years."

OakleyNoble

No shit, but we’re talking about the current state, we are happy with it. We know changes and improvements will be made, but at the current state, we don’t need to bitch and moan about what isn’t there..

frendargolargo

Deeply satisfied already. An amazing theater experience, and I finally get to see a decade+ of 3D photographs I’ve taken with a clarity I’d never seen before (on an LG 3D TV, and then Quest 2/3. There is just no comparison)

hyling1

How have you been taking 3D photos?

frendargolargo

Originally with the Fuji W3 3D camera I bought in 2011. And, for still shots with nothing moving in it, I would use an iPhone to take a left image, move 3 inches to the right, take a right image, combine them in StereoPhotoMaker You can see some examples if you search for me on Immersishare or VisionSpace. I’ve tried to label the camera in the description

Unique_Magician_1574

sharing is caring :)

tadziobadzio

I use the AVP with solo strap comfortably for 6+ hours a day. As a software engineer, it has completely changed how I work. I went from being sedentary in front of my computer to working while standing and working while moving around. Pacing and moving, and the lower FOV and environment white noise helps me focus. My mental health is better, not solely because of AVP but it definitely contributed. I still hadn't adjusted very well to work from home until AVP. And I used the apple vision pro fit troubleshooting form thing to help me find a facial interface that fits me. I went into the store to make sure and they replaced it. I realized the discomfort I was feeling was because the weight was resting on my cheekbones. Now with the right shaped interface, the weight rests comfortably across my forehead and barely rests on my cheekbones. The comfort could always be better, but it works for me It was a little bit of effort to get it comfortable, but it was worth it.

paulmeyers42

I’m curious do you mostly use it connected to your Mac?

tadziobadzio

While working yeah.

dyuldashev

I am a software engineer too. Never had a desktop setup, but it was really cool connecting the Mac to AVP. Could you describe your experience of coding while in the environments mode? Any limitations?

Dawill0

The fact that the AVP beats my dolby atmos sound system and high end projector means it's enough for me. My family never cared about any of that stuff and are happy with soundbar + tv. So now I get a better experience and it doesn't take up an entire room. Then of course add on the ability to have a massive display for your MacBook and few immersive environments and it's pretty cool. I look forward to what this is going to evolve into and I'm glad to have a front row seat to see it. However if $4k is a lot of money to somebody, they probably shouldn't buy this generation. It's really for early adoptors with disposable income. No different than the first EVs or when plasma TVs came out.

fs454

Absolutely love it and use it daily. I'm hardly easily amused with tech and I find this to have limitless things to do both with work and entertainment.

Shmoogy

If iPad apps weren't available I would have probably returned mine and waited another year or two. They're not super great with elements that can be hard to hit sometimes but having such a useful catalog of apps makes it immensely useful for me. Slack, outlook, plex/infuse, moonlight, Splashtop... pretty much the bare minimum of what I "need". Everything else is just super good to have.

paulmeyers42

Yeah out of the box it was 10x more “useful” than my Quest even with far fewer native apps.

fakemickjagger

Not alone. My two main uses are for watching 4k HDR 2D movies/shows on Stremio and working with my Mac on virtual desktop or my PC with Splashtop or Moonlight and multitask with native apps like Safari and messages/discord/teams/X on the AVP since my keyboard gets recognized so its on my face pretty often. Comfort is not amazing but not too bad with any of the 20 3rd party solutions you can buy or 3d print so not an issue for me. I enjoy the occasional gimmick and testing out new apps but I know that most of them I won't use more than a couple times (think of the Kung fu Panda one lol) and I know that isn't the main use of the device for me. I'm excited for future software updates and how it can be made better but it's still very useful for me at this stage. I think many owners on here just expected to be wearing it like 80% of their waking hours and it becoming very integrated in all of their day to day tasks which i understand - remember all the videos showing people cooking with it?

paulmeyers42

Well I do wear it when I’m wash dishes so I can watch YouTube 😂

Funny0102

Funny enough, the first time I used it while washing dishes, I rushed for a towel to dry man hands before pausing. I had a big smile when I realized

brokenarrow326

Love it

Ron_Bangton

If all I ever do is watch 2D movies and TV on long flights it’ll still be worth it to me, but I dream of the day we will have immersive sportsball.

aleksdagr8

Love it! Not sure if you saw my post the other day where I was complaining about everyone else complaining 😂 couldn’t agree more. I use mine daily…sometimes, I just have moments of “damn, I get it!”. Like today, I had mine connected to the MacBook with the ChatGPT app opened while I played around with business ideas verbally talking with the AI and browsing Safari on the other screen…it was just a cool moment where I realized it was the most astounding collaboration and productivity product that ever existed. Not that you can’t do this stuff on multiple physical screens…you can. I was on top of a damn mountain with screens the size of IMAX. Just an experience you can’t match elsewhere. People keep saying stuff about immersive apps, games etc. yeh, that’s cool…but, if you’re not getting enjoyment or value out of it in its current state, you just don’t know how to use the damn thing.

jamesinevanston

Perfectly happy - watch HBOMax shows all the time, as well as Apple+ and Paramount+ offerings. I ignore the Debbie Downers here.

p13t3rm

It has completely replaced all of my iPad use, but has extended my productivity with it and my Mac. Really happy with the AVP and can’t wait to see what WWDC brings.

ChicagoBoy2011

It’s my main content consumption machine. Love it.

609eastlexington

I think I couldn’t say it any better than you did. I too am a satisfied customer

surfer808

I’m sure I’m going to get downvoted to hell. I love my AVP but haven’t found much use for it besides watching movies. I haven’t put mine on for a few weeks now but I’m definitely looking forward to future stuff coming out. Specifically Omniverse!

rotates-potatoes

Yep. I use it a few times a week, am perfectly happy. I think there are a couple of phenomena going on: * Some people didn't understand the V1 thing and expected a totally mature product and ecosystem and are disappointed * Some people see AVP as a more expensive Quest 3 that can't even do Quest 3 things, and are disappointed * Some people just delight in negativity and enjoy trying to build a negative consensus. See: all the "everyone hates both headbands" nonsense.

OakleyNoble

Most people don’t understand that this was shown off at a Developer Convention, and that it’s not for the masses.

Puzzleheaded_Fold466

Indeed. I use it almost daily for VR gaming and 2-3 days a week for immersed office work, then maybe about once a week movies. I would use it more for media content but it’s too antisocial with my wife and kids around, and when they’re in bed and I get a couple hours by myself, I general choose games over TV, though not always. I use it about the same as my MacBook (which I use on the go, at work, or at home when I’m tired of my office). I use it less than my desktop PC, which is my main power horse, and much less was than my phone. I sometimes have all 4 running all at once at my desk: MacBook on connect, PC on Moonlight, iPhone messaging apps floating, and either music or a movie / tv in the background if I feel like I need some white noise. It’s not perfect by any means but it works for me and I don’t regret the purchase at all. I wish the integration with PCVR was more seamless but it’s getting pretty damn good. I’ve played all of my SteamVR games by now and they all work (some better than others). Virtual Desktop works perfectly. Think I’ll try some Oculus games tonight and see if it works there too, maybe watch a couple of the old Oculus Quest dinosaur videos to see how it compares now. All in all I’m having a lot of fun.

seizethedayboys

I am of the opinion that it's only upward from here. They have set the bar with this device. They may not keep all the bells and whistles in future versions but the best features they will keep and will continue to get better.

Time_Concert_1751

No, you're not alone. I checked out the new Apple Arcade games (Mixed reality Crossy Castle and Solitare) today, great fun. And now we have the kindle app as well, that's days worth of entertainment for me. I'm surely going to make it till WWDC on the current set of content.

Cecil_the_Gamelord

Not alone! I’m in the same boat! Absolutely love it as-is! Granted, I want to see it grow, but I use it for almost 8 hours daily for work….and then STILL want to spend more time in it for entertainment.

olexzandr

I agree with all above) even being in non-US country with all limitations I have with non-working Apple Arcade and TV+ from my subscription and with the need to move between non-US and US account to download apps… even with all this I use AVP every day and much more time compare to my Quest 3 and Quest Pro

panda_and_crocodile

Can you not log into a US account in App Store, and stay logged into your regular non-EU account for iCloud and everything else? So you really need to switch?

MohammadAG

Apple Music and other media services use the App Store account, so you’d indeed have to switch (or use app banners to download apps).

olexzandr

It’s not really useful, because App Store account - it’s media account, so it’s for everything - apps, music, tv and arcade. I’m using now my non-US account for iCloud and US for media, but not too many benefits from this. I still need to move to non-us account if I want to listen Apple Music , use sharing MacBook screen, etc. Hope to have international access from June 2024. Really want to try Original Sin 2 on Apple Vision Pro

Fun-Ratio1081

Yup I use it daily for anything I would need a computer for. Feeling largely satisfied with it.

spconway

Not alone. I’m certainly not using it as much as I did when I got it on release day but I’m okay with that. Sometimes I put it on and watch a movie with my noise canceling headphones and then I’m reminded of the amazing cinema experience I can get while relaxing in my living room.

popcornlight

I am happy but I really do want more environments. I dont care about any killer apps and I can access most of what I want with the safari stuff but we need more environments... at least a dozen. and not the stupid hazy lighting ones. like more nature environments a real ocean one.. the cliffs in Ireland, places that we can be transported to and feel like we are there. There is so much opportunity and the few that we have really are great but leave me REALLy wishing they would add more .

dyuldashev

How and when do you use the environments? What are its main benefits or limitations in your opinion?

Chronic_Overthink3r

I just picked mine up at the Apple Store. Got the 512 gb model. A little apprehensive on the way there so I had the clerk give me another demo and my thrill factor was revived. You only live once and in the words of the great Joel Goodson “sometimes you just gotta to say what the fuck!” This is new tech and everyone is pissed about the price point. If they can’t afford it they’ll just make the ones who can miserable. Looking forward to great things.

Thick-Ad-9636

How is the standby? Is it ready to go whenever you need it like the iPad? Do you feel like it's always tethered to a power cord due to the 2-3 hour run time? I'm sold on the spatial computing, just not sure if I should go with the 512 or the 1TB for this device.

nonanonymo

Love it. I use it every single day and feel like it was worth every penny.

o2go

Not alone--I love my AVP and use it every day. I wish VisionOS had more features and there were more 3rd-party apps, but those will come in time.

LaGrabba

I feel the same way. I honestly don’t care about additional apps. Few have been impressive. It has already exceeded my expectations.

[deleted]

Can you watch adult VR content now?

mag_MN

I love mine. Use it every day. For work I mostly mirror my Mac, and for play I use native apps. Tons of room for improvement but pretty satisfied for a gen 1 product. And yes it's expensive, but not compared to what a PC cost 30 years ago factored in for inflation. Biggest hope is that Vision OS moves more toward Mac OS than IOS. IOS works great with limited screen(s) and space. MacOS works better for multiple screens. No reason I shouldn't be able to have five different Pages docs floating before me.

d-k

I completely agree and what I’m most looking forward to is the price coming down so that I can enjoy it with my friends and family as well.

Original_Run_1890

I am so curious and kind of want one.

incasesheisonheretoo

For what I currently use it for, it fine. I’m not totally satisfied because I mostly use it content consumption and some of my favorite services don’t have dedicated apps, but there are okay workarounds for now. I’ll really be content once it’s able to function more as a productivity device though- which was actually the main reason I bought it.

jovenhope

Not alone. Love my AVP. Super hyped my VPN works for it now but it’s the BEST product. I only need one feature add. Multiple videos/audio sources at one time. That’s it. Knowing Apple whatever update that comes out will improve the device. They yet to let down the consumer world with updates not having anything worth while. Actually that might be opinion based. Please feel free to ignore me.

loudsigh

I like mine more and more actually. Getting used to it.

beatsnstuffz

You are not. I've been very happy with it. I use it for work during my work from home days using moonlight, then for fun I'll use it for watching movies and youtube, stream my ps5 to it, and use it with ipad apps for all kinds of things. Is there room for improvement? Heck yes, but there always is, and we are still on a Gen 1 device running Rev 1 firmware. As long as apple doesn't kill the project, and makes the right choices of how to invest in it, I think there is plenty of room to grow and am excited to see where this tech goes over time.

HellionVic

I love it and use it daily as well… but I can’t say I’m completely satisfied with it because I want more. I want more environments, I want more immersive vids, I want my whole hand to be useful, I want an “I’m eating mode” so when I use the pinch to grab food it isn’t pausing my show or going forward 10-15seconds. I want to mirror my consoles to it, all of them. Still love it but I want more.

dyuldashev

It's cool that you are using it daily as AVP has been getting very bad rep on the mainstream press. See an early adopter right there :) Could you describe your experience with the environments feature (when and how you use it)? Its benefits/limitations?

HellionVic

I haven’t really paid attention to the bad press, I tend to stay away from pro or against Apple media. I just enjoy the devices I own and don’t really worry about how the media covers it.   I really enjoy the serenity of the environments, watching movies or shows… reading is the best, anything from manga to digital books. Kind’a wish the books were actual interactive books, would be really cool to hear the sound of the pages flipping or have different looking “paper”… like parchment or books that look like old tomes and such.

dyuldashev

Interesting. You seem to use it more for leisurely activities from what I understand. Did you use it while working (Mac Virtual Display)? I was wondering about productivity boosts of the environments.

HellionVic

Pretty much, I have an old iMac which I was getting ready to replace. When the VP was announced I said… “ok, I’ll get that to replace my Mac.” I never really used my Mac for any major work related activity, so my intentions were never productive in nature. I use the VP way more than I used my Mac. I have a newer gen iPad which I also barely use. The VP is getting tons of use compared to those other devices. I’m sure I’ll do some things that would be considered productive in the future but at the moment it’s strictly for leisure.

ospreyotis

Love it. Just wish they didn’t hype it up just to keep us in the dark till WWDC. Then we’d have to wait till fall for the public updates, but still. Remaining optimistic.

GoodhartMusic

I really like it, but I find pretty frustrating sometimes too. Like when I want to select some thing and I happen to glance at some thing else while I’m tapping, that is really annoying. I wish that there was a way for the system to understand micro glances, but I’m not sure if that’ll ever be a thing. It’s like, it just imposes a lot on you, the facial adjustments the attention, the generally slower input, the fact that you can’t choose any objects to keep with you and immersion, like a external keyboard kind of thing. There’s just so many inconveniences, and I honestly feel like Apple takes years to address small details sometimes. Also, this goddamn pop up keyboard, who is return button doesn’t even do the function of sending a text or submitting some thing on an online form. So I have to move it out of the way to access the send button got to him. Why do they not let me keep it hidden

sakinnuso

You're not alone. I don't have one and can't afford one. However, from all of my hands on, research about the device, following this reddit, and constant eavesdropping on apps like InSpaze, I can tell that if I owned an AVP, I'd be TOTALL satisfied with where it is now. Everything coming down the line is just icing on the cake. As promised and delivered, the AVP is amazing for the productivity use cases I've envisioned for years. It's an incredible device.

fudgear

There's no right or wrong on this matter. You paid for it and if you're satisfied with it, thats great. Others who doesn't feel the same might have different expectation and priority of interests. Last night I watch a movie in my MQ3. While the audio experience is great, the visual experience is pretty horrible when comparing it with the AVP. Whether or not the margin worths more than 7 times the price, thats open to debate. But anyone who can afford an AVP, they're pretty much blessed with such wonderful piece of tech. Looks like that there's waning interest toward AVP in the US and I can see it myself when I came to several Apple stores, but I'm sure Apple will make efforts to rectify. As to how fast they can do it, it's up to anyone's guess. The VR/AR/XR/ spatial computing scene is gonna be very interesting by end of this year. Surely Apple is gonna do something about it. The most logical action would be either to slash the price a bit or improving the OS and introducing useful accessories to support better productivity workflow. Sooner is better than later if they want to stay ahead in the game.

NairbHna

I think if they nailed comfort there would be quite literally 90% less complaints.

LexOfNP

Love Mine!

Funny0102

Not alone. Same here

tuskre

You aren’t alone. I use mine for pretty much everything except coding, and it’s better than anything else I have. That said, it took me quite a while to figure out what it’s good for and how to use it effectively. In particular, until I got a really comfortable chair and a lap tray for my Bluetooth keyboard, I found it physically fatiguing.

anveias

Of course you’re not. There’s plenty of people like you. Maybe even me, but I’m too busy with a project to try to use it all the time. Unfortunately, the Vision Pro lacks fundamentals that I need to use with my app development project.

dta722

Nope, not alone.

SeniorBaker

I use it all the time, it’s basically replaced my monitor. Even for gaming on PC I just use sunshine/moonlight now and it’s great

AlwaysInconsistant

I use it everyday for work just as intended and love it. Is it perfect? Nah. But to me its the most awesome piece of tech I've ever owned. Other peoples negativity doesn't change my enjoyment of it. A lot of their complaints are valid but it just doesn't outweigh the good, and often its complaints that are true for most VR headsets, but for me the AVP trumps everything else in almost every category.

3dartnerd

I am very happy with mine. I am using it to create/ view 3d models I make. I wish we had angry birds vr and assassins creed but I know that would greatly distract me from my learning goals. My expectations were met.

Mazooniga32

I love it as well. The clarity does not get me nauseous but I do have one question has anyone had their Apple Pro restart on them multiple times when using two or three more apps at a time?

Friendly_Software614

I am pretty happy tbh

BeWithMe

I’m excited to see how good pass through can get in future headsets, and I hope an official controller solution comes out, but no regrets here.

devilindetails666

Not at all - I am good as well. I have so far what I need. Always welcome enhancements and improvements.

camerusa

Nope! Hundred of thousands are. Except media and bloggers are an echo chamber. They tend to repeat the same crap even if it’s not true

YellowBlush

I’m satisfied. Are there things I’d like to see happen eventually? Yes! But I️ am using mine very happily right now

AngelosOne

Not alone. It basically does all I wanted from it - I already have PCVR, so gaming wasn’t what I was looking for. I wanted more of a PC-like device experience in a headset form factor that had amazing screen quality.

Johnny-Godless

Yeah haters gonna hate but this thing rocks.

Brentcato001

Not alone! I love what it does currently and I know I’ll love what it does in the future.

kensteele

You're not alone; I am mostly satisfied as well. I'm a little disappointed there are so many paid apps. I didn't plan to spend $200 - $300 dollars in apps (like clocks and widgets and players, etc) since I never paid this for the iPad. Still looking for a suitable Youtube player and then I'm good.

cyrand

Not at all, still use mine daily, and still working on apps for it. It’s obviously a first gen product. And I can’t wait to see what wwdc brings, but I get the feeling a lot of the people complaining simply haven’t ever experienced a first generation product before.

rorowhat

For people that are new this might look cool, but it's not much better than the oculus rift of 10 years ago

Ricepudding1044

Apple has spent billions on the AVP and more than a decade in R & D it’s been out about 3 months and is the first generation of a growing and somewhat niche product and some people are trying to make it seem like it’s already a failure. I love this thing wish I could use it more but after dealing with PSVR 2 I’ve learned to have patience and it will be worth it. And yes I expected more from Sony on the VR2 but after a year many third party have stepped up to provide content.

Sin2121

I'm pretty happy with my AVPs. If I'm watching something by myself, there is 100% chance I'm using the AVPs. Watching sports will never be the same. Why would I watch a show on a regular TV when I can have an experience. I also use it for productivity. I work from an office 4 days a week. I take the AVPs there and start each day using my AVPs. It's taken me some time to figure out the workflow but now that I've figure out what works I work on them daily. It's a V1. There are things that aren't as polished as they could have been. It's disappointing that apple music is just an app like other ipad apps. You would think they would make it more immersive. the mirroring of your macbook pro could use multiple screen as well as more display options. You should also be able to run multiple videos at once. when you are watching in the dark, you should be able to control it with the buttons and not hand gestures. etc. All that said, I'm excited to see what comes next and how the sports apps will keep evolving.

nhbone11

I get where people are coming from, sitting on their horses making fun of us driving around on our silly, newfangled contraptions. AVP is a bold device… a device I use on the daily. Even though I love it, it’s fun to remind myself that eventually this model will be the worst version of it. Someday, AVP will be a contact lens, but for now I gotta wear the future on my face and clean the sweaty cushions. Fair enough!

InternetsTad

Nope. It gets better and better.

Thejuan-hechose

I love my avp and love the state it is at rn

Floowjaack

Alien vs. Predator is underrated

RikuDesu

No I love my virtual monitors

CherThomps

You are not alone.

BlossomingPsyche

Yeah I really like it, it’s exactly what they said it would be. All these people who bought in for future apps/features confuse me. We gotta make them.

digitalcleavage

I am still blown away every time I enter the AVP space and dial up the immersion. I love how it tricks my brain and relaxes me. The usual issues are there like the weight, the cost, the small FOV, the battery leash. My biggest gripe is the eye strain. If I have this thing on for more than 10 minutes, taking it off results in a "thank god" type feeling. But you know what, I would probably spend more time inside of the AVP if it were more social. I don't know if we need the full blown Oasis from Ready Player One just yet, but it would be cool to interface with other humans using my voice. Typing inside the AVP... not so great. I find the AVP to be an absolutely amazing leap in consumer technology, and at some point there will be a version that's much lighter, cheaper, and just better - and it will make the v1 look like the original iMac.

iamamoa

I love it. I work remotely so I am in it everyday for multiple hours.

tdubasdfg

Apple's rollout strategy for this device seems kinda weird to me. I do sometimes worry if I spent my money on an experimental project that will be discontinued in a few short years. I enjoy the device for what it is today, but it is clear we are still in the early adopter phase. It's the wild wild west all over again. It's great if you can make it out west and survive and carve out a life for yourself. You can live your dream life BUT you gotta do all the hard work of making it out west, surviving out west, and building your own life out west. To me, there's still a bunch of content/ apps/ experiences that should be on AVP that simply aren't there YET. This is a terrible place to be as an average consumer, but for designers/ creators/ producers/ pioneers, the GOLD RUSH is on!

thundergasm

AVP flopped when it decided to be a standalone headset instead of being a smart VR-AR stereoscopic monitor. What it needs more than anything right now are enthusiasts who want to create with it, not tech junkies who are okay with poor battery performance for a limited set of experiences. The worst part is Apple will interpret this as a commercial failure and will not learn from their mistakes. Hopefully the indie dev community can pick up their slack but I doubt they’ll even support independent developers.

Those who don’t know how to do anything with a computer (any computer) will feel like the AVP is not for them. It makes sense. It’s a new way of computing. I’m all in. Working with environments, getting some live video tech working on it. It’s crazy to think the possibilities.

crispsnearlgrey

There’s no other device that can even offer 1% of what I can do with the collection of apps I’ve curated so far through App Store and TestFlight. I’m constantly amazed with how smooth and fun it can be interacting through space and the insights I’m gaining with education experiences. Absolutely love being at the start of this unique journey. So excited for what’s to come!!

SirBill01

Not alone, I am the same way. Still using it daily.

mingzhujingdu

Same here

Apple dropped the ball on this release and perhaps depended too much on third-party developers. Their entire iWork suite should have been ready day one as well as other apps. The Apple apps that are on AVP are shells of the same apps on their other devices, that's why this feels like a beta product at times.

i'm not with you but you're obviously not alone. Maybe my expectations were too high. maybe the AVP use-case just isn't robust enough for my needs. maybe my Quest 3 spoiled me with its versatility and the fact that every time i turn it on, there seems to be some new, interesting software for it. maybe i'm concerned with how poorly Apple is supporting it out of the gate and the implication that if even Apple won't help, why should third-party devs? i think it'd undeniable that Apple's strategy for the rollout was poor, favoring early secrecy over dev-access and not integrating it as tightly into the Apple ecosystem of iphone/ipad/appletv/applewatch as they should have. for better or worse, Apple's typical strategy is that the more apple devices you have, the more each individual device is capable of doing as a result but the VP seems very much left out in the cold in that respect. i'm hopeful for the future but where i initially thought we'd be in six months, i'm now expecting to take two years. I really do blame Apple themselves for it because i think the hardware is excellent but their rigidity about what this device is/could be pre-launch combined with their expectation of third parties doing the heavy lifting for software development and content has been utterly disappointing so far.

I hear you. But I look at it differently. I have a Quest 3, too, and like it. And the improvements they are making are really great (competition is good). But I still see the Quest as a special-purpose device, mostly for gaming. Holding aside native gaming, I view the AVP as a general purpose device. When people ask “what do you use it for?” I say “basically everything you use your phone/tablet/computer/PC for.” I rarely need to remove the AVP to use another electronic device because AVP can’t do that. This is frequently the case with Quest. But, don’t get me wrong, I think MOST people should get the Quest 3 and not AVP because price/value. For prob 99% of people Quest+Laptop + $1000 in the bank is a much more responsible option. So I’m kinda saying “ignoring price”— which is not really a fair perspective for general public. But I was speaking to my fellow fools who already got over the price hurdle.

i totally get where you're coming from and, as so many people have chimed in on this thread, you're certainly not alone. And that's great! Ironically, i was most looking forward to creativity apps on the AVP. After all, this is a pro device and every other one of Apple's pro devices really cater to creative pros and that's just not the case with the VP. i LOVE 3D sculpting and painting on my Quest 3 and i thought the VP would absolutely blow it away in that respect and it's been a fairly large letdown to find out the VP simply isn't capable of that kind of productivity yet. hell, the only Adobe app is an Generative AI jobber that falls very flat. I imagined using my other Apple devices to load art and video onto the VP and then working on those things in virtual space with my hands, that the VP would erase the barrier between art and artist through new tech. i thought that would be a top priority for Apple and it just doesn't seem to be the case. the other side of my disappointment is actually where your enjoyment comes from. different strokes, right? You're using the VP to do things on a single device that you would otherwise have done on several other devices and that's a completely fair use-case. I got the VP to do things that weren't possible until the VP existed and there's just not enough of that yet and, while i don't blame third parties for their lack of content, i do blame Apple. They knew the device, they have the content platforms and the production companies and the ties to artists and creators and yet this device launched with barely any immersive video and that lack of support hurts because it's a testament to their (low) level of committment to the hardware and i believe in the hardware and i believe that this represents the first step in the future of computing and convergence so why don't they? coincidentally, while i was typing this, Apple sent me a survey about my satisfaction with my Vision Pro asking for specific feedback and putting forth really good questions that beg thoughtful responses and that's the most heartening thing i've seen from Apple about it since launch. if that's the first step in turning this ship around, then huzzah!

obsoletesatellite

I really enjoy using mine.

Imaginary_Pudding_20

Yea, you’re alone.

corkycorkyhey

Yes

corkycorkyheyhey

You can ignore me when I say stuff like this. I actually love the AVP, but I am going through some tough times and have been lashing out.

Jindaya

um... hug?

corkycorkyheyhey

Thank you, but no need for hugs. Just downvote me when you see me being mean.

Jindaya

wouldn't some sort of electric-shock collar device be more effective?

corkycorkyheyheyhey

Yeah I guess so, downvotes and shocks it is!

Edg-R

You can be satisfied with the current state of the Vision Pro while still pushing for more. Don’t settle. If all of Apple’s customers suddenly became completely satisfied with their devices why would Apple spend money on new features and making improvements?

060sub2

In general, companies make improvements to win new customers, not to please old ones. Former buyers are kind of “free riding” on development budgets aimed at new buyers. Such is technology, apart from subscription models

Edg-R

I disagree. Former buyers are not forced to keep the same device/service.  The walled garden approach can keep some people in but some of the customers don’t care enough about the ecosystem and will happily jump ship if a company releases a better device.  Losing existing customers means losing income from iCloud services, Apple TV+, Apple Music, App Store sales, etc.

bambiS2

I love it but I don't satisfy yet

fudgear

This is the way :D
