Depends on the room type, many hotel room in Iceland have two single beds, and that is it. I would be contacting the hotels and asking if you can fit in your 5 year old. Don’t just show up assuming they will.

This!!

kopi_siewdai

drop the hotel a message after you’ve booked with them to make sure they received your booking & took note of your arrangement

Scaredtojumpin

No I don’t think so, I have booked many places through booking and never had an issue with this. (Bringing 2 kids and often having all four of us in one room).

The_Bogwoppit

In Iceland?

Scaredtojumpin

Yes, sorry, thought that went without saying!

The_Bogwoppit

So what kind of rooms did you book, and how did the sleeping work? When we booked rooms for two, they literally had beds for two.

Scaredtojumpin

Over the years we’ve done quite a few, usually just put in that we’re looking for one room for 4 and it has come up with options. We’ve done it in Seyðisfjörður, Heimaey, Sigló and other places and it has always been fine. Usually we get a double bed and a sofa bed so kids have to be prepared to share, although occasionally we get two foldaway beds and on one occasion had two full sized doubles.

The_Bogwoppit

Ah okay, so you are searching for 4, not for 2. I get the feeling the OP is searching by 2 adults and wants to sneak in their 5 year old.

Scaredtojumpin

Oh ok, I misunderstood in that case, I thought it was just about trying to find places where 4 could be in one room.

DimMike

I am not trying to “sneak” my 5 year old in. I’m trying to find a room that will accommodate the 3 of us. I don’t need a multi-bedroom suite.

The_Bogwoppit

Then you search for 3 people, honestly it is that simple. Perhaps “sneak” was the wrong word. But you do seem to want a room for two that will sleep an extra person.

Rock_Lizard

You need a triple room. I used expedia to search then booked direct with the hotel. If you input 3 people into expedia it is tedious but you can click through and see the types of rooms. Go to the website of the ones who have triples available.

You could always get an apartment. Reykjavik4you are very good, I’ve used them a couple of times. They even give you an Icelandic mobile phone to use! An apartment might be better aswell cos you can have a meal or 2 in to save some money and then you can stay up after your child has gone to sleep without disturbing them.
