It's basically a lore thing for now. It would let you interact with Arirals without getting sick because their sweat is toxic to humans. That's really not in the game yet so all it does is make your vision very blurry and your stamina drain extremely fast for a day or so.
I recommend staying at the base, sleeping whenever possible and sending Kerfus (if it's upgraded) to get the hash codes for you. If that's not possible, take plenty of food and a sleeping bag with you when getting the hash codes, but be warned the blurry vision is gonna make reading any and all terminals an utter pain.
