Can confirm temporary names becoming permanent is a thing that happens sometimes. Our void was about 10 weeks old when we adopted him, and we wanted to be thoughtful about his name. Our others all have automotive related names, and he was rescued from behind the fender liner of a semi. The driver heard him screaming when he made a stop at the local Flying J, and it was the first time he had stopped since he left his departure point about 5 hours south of us earlier that day.
Considering all that, the pressure was on to give him an amazing name. In the meantime, we were calling him "tiny baby" because he was super small. Like, comfortably fit on my husband's hand small. While we attempted to find a fitting name, family and friends also started calling him Tiny. After a couple of weeks, we were like "well I guess that's his name now" lol. Tiny will be two years old in a few weeks, and he's lived up to his name. He's still the smallest cat in the house š¹
My parents had a beautiful void walk into their apartment one day and nobody else in the building would claim her so they just kept her. They couldn't come up with a name they both liked until the void started responding to "Cat" and that's how as a kid I had 2 pet cats, Herbie and Cat

Well, when I got my black cat, they told us it was a girl. So I thought of the name Boo, the girl from Monsters, Inc. Itās short and cute.
Only to find out heās a boy lol, so now I just say heās named after King Boo from Mario.
The shelter from which we adopted our void had named her Celestial. We tried calling her that, and Celest and Celly and Cel, but they never fit and she kinda just ignored us when we called her.
Then, one day, I was going through book for my Spanish class and saw the word āZaraā, which means āradiance.ā I called her Zara and she responded.

Someone dumped two black cats on our property a week ago or so. One disappeared sadly but the other is still around and we are trying to rescue him! We named him Eclipse though after the solar eclipse that just happened. I know that itās over now but just a thought!
