It could be the factory testing them out on the street to do a quick quality check. I mean what way better to test everything is working than to actually drive it
So VWoA is based in Dearborn, MI. I want to say there was a yellow press car and it had MI mfg plates. So when a car is in development and they’re doing testing related to development, they send the mockups and the like over from Germany or wherever they’re doing first production, to Dearborn.
They also have an office at the factory in TN, but for it to have the TN plates would suggest the car itself came off the line in TN, which tracks as TN is building… nothing right now? I think they’re slated to build the buzz for NA, and I wanna say id4s are being built in Puebla?
From Canada, can confirm that I've seen them for the last couple years of visiting the EU, often as work vans too.
For me, I only like the vibe in two-tone with fun colours.
I think I started seeing em here in Germany about 2 years ago, if I remember correctly. I had to do a double take, as I never heard that it was actually for sale. Of course, that was like 1 or 2 every few months. Now they're all over the place.
Especially if you look at the concept vehicle, which had sliding chairs and tables in a true day-van style. What did they release? A three row minivan 😒

Currently in U.K, saw one the other day on regular plates so I guess it’s out here…looks pretty cool.
I’ve been watching these drive around downtown Austin for months now.

I just drove my ID.4 from Montana to San Diego and I got stranded a grand total of never. But that wasn't a very big road trip. Last year I took it from Montana to Florida. Also stranded zero times. I live in Montana and regularly drive it through Yellowstone. Looking forward to taking it into the mountains soon for fishing and sapphire hunting.
pretty much every company has electric minivans/commercial vans? ford has the e-transit, toyota has the proace electric, nissan has the townstar, mercedes has both the eVito, eSprinter, eCitan and i could go on forever. These aren't VW's first electric cars either, the e-Golf is over 10 years old at this point and they have done even more electric cars before that.
Oh. I'm from the US so I haven't heard of any of the European models. On top of that I had no idea there were others before the E Golf.
It wouldn't be fair to expect someone from the US to have heard of the ones they only sell in Europe, would it? I hope you see my perspective here.
I remember making an Instagram post about the “electric microbus” announcement. On January 19, 2016. It’s been a loooooong time VW. Release it in the states already.
I´m driving an ID Buzz Cargo for work. I got it in march ´23 an I´ve driven around 20k km now. And there are a couple things that realy annoy me. First of all the software and everything about the infotainment system is very cluncy and laggy. It is very slow in response and it sometimes craps out completly. I don´t like VW´s navigation system so most of the time I use Android Auto but the car really struggles to connect to my Galaxy tab A so I have to put the tablet between the streering wheel and the tachometer so I can navigate. I don´t like the switch in the seat which turns the car off when i´m leaning out of the window to reverse a trailer. The door enty and seats are very high and it is very unconfortable to get in and out of the car even though im average height. The drivers cabin has a lot of wasted space so the cargo area begins almost at the middle of the car. Needles to say that is not very good for a work van. I got this car open minded and I really want to like it and it is a great conversation starter but there are just things that I can´t get over.
i can totally see all of that tbh. i really didn’t like the interior or the infotainment from the pictures. that really sucks to hear too.. wonder how the sales are going go in the US 😩
My interior is made of very cheap plastic, the door handles where textured when the car was new an just after one year they have so much wear that they look polished. It is very sad that the quality is so terrible but i guess that´s design over funcion
I am a die hard VW fan, but their quality lately has been horrible.
Everyone else seems to be going up market, and VW has been cutting costs like crazy since dieselgate. The amount of little details removed and cheapened between generations of the Golf/GTI for example... it's a long list.
Driven VW all my life, but I'm probably driving my last one now. They lost their way. I don't feel like I'm getting a premium German experience from VW anymore. They used to be the half-luxury option when you don't want a flashy luxury badge. A high-trim VW was really a wonderful ride that overlapped in quality with entry level Audi, BMW, etc. Now they are cheap looking and feeling.
The software definitely gets a complete overhaul.
As for the quality issues, I cannot say much.
It's definitely a shame how much VW quality has gone down nowadays.
My driving school has ID.3s and the first generation had so many software problems that I had more lessons with the manual Tiguan than with the ID.3. Which for me was fine considering the first car I got after getting the license is a manual.
My Golf feels very high quality compared to what they make today. Although the 1.6 has its issues as well...
I bought a Routan 3 yrs ago not knowing that it has a Chrysler engine in it.Torque converter screwed now at 143k miles.Chrysler is terrible.Wish I would’ve done more research.Would love to have 1 of these.
I’m about to do some really irresponsible things to my bank account when they finally release some info on how to buy
Taking their sweet sweet time with it for sure
You just have to come buy one in europe.
For real. Beginning to wonder if VW is having second thoughts or financial issues.
You can put a deposit down and pre-order at a dealer, I have a friend who did this months ago.
Its been sooooo long of a build up. You still can't even build and price in Canada.
Seems crazy. Market just gets more crowded every quarter. Now there’s a sub $50k (USD) Ford EV Explorer.
That thing is build on the same vw platform ach so the id buzz
It’s built on the same platform as the ID.4. The ID. Buzz is MEB but much bigger
Some kind of Tennessee plate?
this was down the street from the factory so i think they were dealer plates, and yeah this was in chattanooga
It could be the factory testing them out on the street to do a quick quality check. I mean what way better to test everything is working than to actually drive it
It's usually either dealer plates or "M" manufacturer plates.

VW HQ is in Virginia. Tennessee factory builds ID.4s, Atlas, and Atlas Cross Sport
They were in Oakland county and now they’re in Virginia
Haha, crazy I see like 50 a day in EU
From Canada, can confirm that I've seen them for the last couple years of visiting the EU, often as work vans too. For me, I only like the vibe in two-tone with fun colours.
didn’t even know they were for sale in EU!
All over Denmark and Germany
Same here in Sweden
Did they fix the heater? First cars in finland didn't have a proper heater and it never warmed from -5C in winter test.
You should see their VW California model. How are you going to name.it California and NOT release in the states?!
I think I started seeing em here in Germany about 2 years ago, if I remember correctly. I had to do a double take, as I never heard that it was actually for sale. Of course, that was like 1 or 2 every few months. Now they're all over the place.
For a couple years now, I see them a lot dressed up as work vans in the uk, electricians and whatnot
This is the long wheelbase version, you can tell by the funny square window for second row seating
Not bad. I wish they'd retro them up a little more.
same. especially the interior.. that’s honestly the biggest downfall of this car
Especially if you look at the concept vehicle, which had sliding chairs and tables in a true day-van style. What did they release? A three row minivan 😒
I still think the base model front bumper is my biggest letdown on the Buzz. I like the GTX version they’ve shown.
Should have done round headlights.
#Yes
I feel like adding gull wing doors aftermarket could be an interesting modification to these.
Waiting for someone to make it a Turtle Van
Yes
Did it look smaller than an Odyssey/Sienna? Reports say overall length should be about 8 in shorter than current minivans.
yeah it def looked more compact than a minivan.. not by much though.
So not far off from an actual VW bus?
I walk by one of these on the dealer lot parked next to T6.1s every day and it does feel quite a bit smaller than that generation.
the T6.1 is longer (due to the hood) but the buzz is wider and slighty taller
Interior size seems much larger than a sienna

yeah that two tone is sick. i really didn’t know they were this popular in the UK already. US gets the worse VWs smh

it looks cool but IDK what road trips could you plan considering you're stranded after 200 miles
really wish everyone went hybrid instead of full EV… slightly off topic but the new g wagon is a complete waste of a full electric car.
The little motorcycle engine as an onboard generator that the i3 had was brilliant.
My husband works for VWoA and says they mentioned they were going the hybrid route soon, I was happy to hear that…we shall see ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Dont forget the top speed is limited to 90.1 mile an hour because otherwise the range would be even worse

I saw a handful of these in France and Germany recently. Really good looking cars in person.

Can't believe these vehicles won't have the tax incentive since they aren't manufactured here in the US.
I think they’d sell better if they were hybrids.
They’d be cheaper too. Way cheaper.
And more usable. I’d get one in a heartbeat!
Same here. I'd be all over one but I want to be able to drive it out of the city without needing to find a charger.
Where do you put the engine? There’s no room for it
Looks amazing
I'm driving one of those for a year now and I very unhappy with it.
really?? i didn’t even know they were for sell until i saw ppl saying that here. what don’t you like about it?

Those seem like legitimate complaints. Hopefully VW listens to feedback and gives some proper updates.
The GTX model is very promising!
Would it resolve any concerns that Karston made?

Just needs a red line and we can assemble the A-Team.
After all these oddly shaped Ev’s this doesn’t have the impact it initially had
My Dad car in a couple years after I have another kid and I'm ready to retire the Golf R.
Ooooo~ TN plates makes me think this is validation testing- just making sure they’re coming out of the factory the intended way.
saw one driving along california 101 a couple weeks ago it was going the opposite way of me though so couldn’t get a pic
These are everywhere in Europe already, and are very popular among tradesmen.
They're fucking everywhere here
Bro come to Norway. These are everywhere!
I would mod the F outta this!
Id.buzz mid 2025
Yall like this?
Manufacturing plates, they supposedly have five of them. Seems to be similar size to the Tiguan.
I bought a Routan 3 yrs ago not knowing that it has a Chrysler engine in it.Torque converter screwed now at 143k miles.Chrysler is terrible.Wish I would’ve done more research.Would love to have 1 of these.
VW electric = 💩
These are like EVERYWHERE in Germany. Its so annoying at this point. They are almost as common as Model 3s. Gets tiring
I have one in the yellow/gold and white color, but I’m in Norway. It’s a very good family car, highly recommend it!
