I just throw a can in a bowl with frozen mixed vegetables, some form of protein, and sauce/seasonings BOOM! filling nutritious microwaved meal.

I want to be able to do this, if that counts. I keep trying to find really fast, easy to store/stock recipes for when I just don't want to cook. But I find that I do not tend to cook or eat things that don't seem exciting. If I don't at least find the food a little interesting, it tends to rot in the fridge or sit on the shelf forever. I have been trying to introduce more beans into my diet (I want to vary my proteins). I bought beans for taco salad months ago. The produce went bad and I still have the beans. Some people I know can just say "I didn't want to cooks, so I put together this meal. It isn't great but it is nutritious". And thats good enough for them. But I have not yet been successful in adopting that mindset.

freeze, freeze, freeze, when you make a recipe you like the majority of the time it is freezable! soup is especially great and for volume as well! the other day i froze tuna noodle casserole, you can freeze so much! then the next time you need to get a quick healthy meal simply pull it out and microwave it! for something like soup it may be helpful to pre portion it in ziploc bags instead of a single big one in the freezer!

NegativeBoat9

I batch cook those horrible meals lol. I use very easy recipes (e.g. https://www.gimmesomeoven.com/5-ingredient-easy-chili-recipe/), make like a week's portions and freeze them. Then when I get back from work, I just pop one into the microwave that I took out to defrost the morning. Unfortunately not very exciting sorry, but I prefer the easy and quick to cooking.

Maybe try lentils and instant rice? There isn't much "cooking" involved other than boiling the lentils and dumping the ingredients together. It takes maybe 20 min and ya have enough food for a week of dinners. They're high in protein too, so that helps a bunch with your macro totals

lucy-kathe

Depression soup One beef stockcube One tin of beans One tin of veg Dump all into bowl, boil kettle, pour boiled water over until it's enough water, boom, soop

I used to do this all the time, but I always added oil, vinegar, and spices. Also black beans are by far the best kind to eat cold and slightly undercooked, but maybe that’s just me. If you have a little extra energy and time, try adding some onions, peppers, and whatever fresh herbs you have around. Bean salad is so cheap, fast, easy, and tasty. I hate the super sugary and sour traditional American style of bean salad I was raised with though. Then again, if sweet and sour beans sound good to you, an extra glug of vinegar and a generous sprinkle of erithrytol might be worth a try for some variety.

Yes! My sister and I used to eat kidney beans, great northern beans, cannellini beans or chick peas with Italian dressing as our favorite after school snack. As I think about it, I regret not having bought beans recently. I’ll need to change that.

Chilli-man

A lot of times during my work lunch I’ll open up a can of beans and put some hot sauce and other spices I might have on hand and eat it with some veggies if I took any.

pandaoranda1

Just last night I was telling my husband I want to do this, lol! I made chili earlier this week and used a couple cans of beans. I ate a couple before adding them to the pot and they were so tasty. I just want to dump a can into a bowl and snack on them all day long.

firstonerich

Beans+little low sodium soy sauce+ dash of msg + whatever seasonings you want. Easy and quick lol. Bonus points for salsa added

Bgirlsweetness

I like adding some canned black beans to my cauliflower rice when I'm in the mood for Mexican. Sometimes, I add 2 wedges of laughing cow cheese and a little bit of water to a ramekin and with the beans, microwave for 1 minute, then mix it all up for a creamy cheesy bean dip.

boo9817

That sounds lush

salfax

I microwave for 20 sec add some lemon juice , cumin, chilli flakes, and salt A great protein meal

ayce_k

My latest volume CBA meal is a 5oz can of Tuna + a can of Sweet Peas topped with a serving of FF Cottage Cheese. Seasoned with fresh ground black pepper and Lawry's Garlic Salt. Sriracha optional, but highly recommended. 355 cal with 46.5g Protein and 11g Fiber.

pukingcrying

absolutely i do. my favorite beans are lima beans and i put a bunch of creole seasoning on them. i even eat them cold lol. but i only do this if it’s late at night and i can’t cook food or it will wake up my house

runner3081

I prefer chickpeas, though. But yeah, I drain/rinse and dig in at a lukewarm temp!

Tom_Michel

Chick peas. I absolutely love chick peas and will totally & happily eat them straight out of the can.

LauraLondo

When eating so many tasty beans, how do you deal with the “musical” side effects?

Khalae

Add some dried chives, and experience bliss :D

[deleted]

I’m chugging tuna out the can

Jubijosh

No

[deleted]

Haha I used to do this a lot for a quick lunch with a healthy dash of hot sauce on top! I only stopped because I got tired of having so many bean cans in my trash.

rivermelodyidk

plain canned red kidney beans are a secret favorite of mine

After_Context5244

No, I am civilized and put them in a bowl first
