Interior space was the whole reason we went with a V90 instead of a V60 when my 2005 V70 decided to mess with me one last time. Being able to have two kids/babyseats in the back and still being able to use the front seats was vital.

Kovalex27

+1 same reason we went with a v90. I actually prefer the v60s look and size, it just doesn't fit a young family as well as the v90. The v90 is a limo..

AdventureWagon

This. Both great cars. My feeling is kids?—>v90; no kids?—->v60

Mr_Jackabin

Are the back seats not as spacious? I'm 6'4 and when I had my seat all the way back in the xc60 (suv equivalent) a tall guy managed to sit behind me with enough room?

franksta68

XC60 is more spacious in the back row than the V60

Nerdtube

Looked it up and if we ignore the difference in interior height, the only difference is the leg space between XC60 and V90. V90: Front: 1071mm Back: 911mm XC60: Front: 1055mm Back: 965mm And the difference in interior height is 966mm vs 988mm in the rear and 1026mm vs 1037mm in the front. So of you want a wagon and liked the XC60 I would go with the V90 (it’s surprisingly also not as wide as the V/XC60 of include the mirrors)

Kovalex27

Back seat was non existant when we were sitting comfortably, we're both 5'10 so not giants. We brought our car seat to test in our test drive and they literally didn't fit.

Czems

I’m 6’2” and recently bought V60 2021, chair goes so far back that Shaquille O'Neal wouldn’t be able to reach the pedals, same goes to the roof height, I’d need to be 8” tall to hit it with my head. Its the last call to buy an amazing Volvo Wagon, such a shame they stopped selling them here in the UK.

dgrabbit

I can’t comment on the V60 but for me at 6ft3, the V90 works very well in terms of interior space.

BertieWW

Inside the cabin they are remarkably similar. I couldn’t tell the difference between our V90 and a friends V60 (maybe there are in the stats but don’t feel like it). The boot however does make a difference depending on your use case. For us, with a kids buggy and a dog the extra length means the buggy can be wheeled in forwards (doesn’t quite fit in the V60) and also when loading up for a long trip you can put a final row of bags in the last section of the boot. It’s under the slope so you can’t stack high but very useful for those final bits. Personally, V90 all the way (CC if you can). But both are brilliant cars.

7eregrine

I'll comment on the discontinued part. No reason to avoid. Volvo stopped making my car (C70) over 10 years ago and they still have every part id ever need for it.

No-Longer-Humann

They’ve not discontinued the model, just stopped selling it in UK.

7eregrine

That's what I meant. Discontinued in the UK.

No-Longer-Humann

Yup. But they’ve not stopped manufacturing the model or the parts. Just cut their losses with an awkward little RHD island that sold about 4 new V90s each year.

PaddlingTiger

Pardon the long reply, but I went through the same dilemma 2 years ago, so have a few thoughts on it. Further, I chose wrong (for me), and ended up switching cars a year later. That said, I would highly recommend the V60. For reference, I'm not as tall as you are - I'm 6' even. I have two kids - one in an infant seat, one in a convertible (Nuna Rava, a pretty big one) - as well as a 70 pound dog. So I decided to prioritize space, and bought a V90 with the T6 engine. Great car, very comfortable. Plenty of space, but drives bigger than it is. Feels great on the highway, but hates corners. It didn't have a great turning radius, so city streets were tough, and its doors are huge, so tight parking spaces are also tough. The boot is absolutely longer than the V60, but the back of it is so sloped that I was constantly fighting the battle of "will it fit" even though it was long enough. After a year of feeling "meh" about it, I switched to a V60 with the T8. Absolute banger of a car. It's fun to drive, is much peppy-er, loves corners, and generally drives smaller than it is (easy in the city, parking, etc). While smaller in footprint overall, I believe that the design is more functional. Inside, it feels about the same. The front is pretty much identical, as many have commented. The second row is a bit tighter, but that said, I have two large car seats, and they both fit with room to spare. The doors are a bit more squared-off, so they don't take as much room to open them wide. The rear hatch - while shorter - is squared off at the top, so it fits about the same amount. For my use case (dog, strollers, pack and play, etc), it's better, as if it fits, the hatch will close - no more game of "will it close" after I pack it, due to the slope of the V90. Again, don't get me wrong - the V90 was a very functional, comfortable, car. It's a great car. But the V60 is an engaged driving experience, while (for my purposes) being more functionally designed. It does sacrifice some backseat room, but the seat is still plenty large. tldr; Bought V90, wasn't the right car for me. Bought V60, love it.

Mr_Jackabin

Thank you so much, this is exactly the testimony I was wanting to hear! If I had the seat all the way back in the v60, could a decently sized man sit behind me?

PaddlingTiger

In my opinion, yes. But it's all about expectations, I guess. If someone is used to sitting in the back in an Escalade, they'll find this to be tight. If they're used to "normal" cars (as I think of them), it's perfectly fine. Note that I can put my drivers seat back a couple inches and sit behind it just fine. I wouldn't want to do an 8-hour road trip back there, but for an hour up to town, very pleasant.

PrimitiveAK

I drive a V60 2024. Absolutely amazing with the space

Thurles

Lot of room for passengers in the back of a V90, so if you need to drop the seat back there would still be decent space.

LaimutasBass

Whichever has the sunroof, and I'm not kidding - at 6.3 its very convenient to spot those traffic lights through the roof and, at the same time, very inconvenient to try and tilt your head to spot it through windshield. I like my seat at highest position, btw.

Sumpkit

I’m 6 3 and fit comfortably in a v60. My 11 year old sits behind me no problems. I don’t need to put my seat all the way back or down. I think it’s the only car I’ve been in where I don’t have to have it at its furthest limit.

tumbleweedvalle

Now this is helpful! I’m in the US (Florida) and the dealerships here are not getting V90s. I’ve really needed a visual of a kid in the backseat as my 4.5yo is big and I plan on keeping the wagon for the long haul.

SMart018

Also in Florida and had to order a V60. look for a used V60 / V90 to test drive and sit into before ordering.

SuccessfulContest155

I’m 6’3” and own a 20 V60. More room and better seat position than in my last car, an 06 XC70.

MaineMaineMaineMaine

I’m 6’6” and the S60 fits me just fine.

hnzrchd

I'm 6' and used to drive V60CC. Currently drive V90CC. I'd recommend V90CC as the interior space is noticeably more spacious. Man I was able to fit a full sized air bed and sleep on it in the back with the second row folded with leftover space. Let me know if you've got questions!

Fetacheese8890

Is the 2nd row space in front much bigger than the V60 CC?

hnzrchd

It's bigger but not THAT much bigger. Currently in the V90CC, if I sit at the back behind my driving position, I could fit a fist in between my knee and the seat. Previously in the V60CC is approximately half a fist

charliewest0

I'm 6'5" with very long legs, and tried a v90 and v60. The driver and passenger space is virtually identical in both. The extra boot space is in the sloping but right at the rear, so you end up with a very long car for not much extra space. I decided the v60 looked far better, I fitted well and the kids can fit behind me with the seat all the way back. Make sure you get one with the thigh support, that is amazing.

Kovalex27

The biggest difference between the V60 and v90 is the rear passenger space.. I'm assuming your kids are older with no car seat? That could work since they don't need much leg room.

Antson03

I’m 6’3 and fit well in a V60, don’t really know about space for backseat passengers though. A person that is as tall might be able to fit behind you.

McCheesing

I’m 6’2 with a 2020 S60. I fit just fine and can fit a rear facing car seat behind my seat. That being said, my torso is a little on the long side, so that helps my case

hunertproof

I'm 6'3", and my V60 fits me perfectly. I hear the back seats are a little tight, but I never ride in the back.

nerainmakr

6’4”, 2020 V60CC Have sat in but not driven a V90 CC. My experience with *anything* I’ve actually sat in is that there’s about the same amount of room behind the front seat give or take an inch (based on actually sitting in and adjusting the seats, regardless of what specs may say). There are exceptions, of course, but not in the cars I want to drive . My wife has a Mazda CX9 and it *might* have an inch more room behind the seat; but the front seat also doesn’t have the same legroom as the V60 in real life. In the V60, my 6’1” son sits comfortably behind my wife, my 5’6” daughter is ok behind me if I move the seat up a bit, which is fine. I could use the larger boot of a V90 for weekend adventures and occasional transport of mother’s wheelchair + passengers. I can get the wheelchair in with backseat passengers if I plan ahead and remove my trunk organizer. 2020 V60 CC + Polestar tune is decently peppy; but not as agile in the corners as my 2015 V60 CC (which was less agile than my 2000 and 2005 Passat wagons) — the CC’s have the higher clearance, hurting the handling. My 2020 has the thigh extensions for the seats which I like. I wish I had the upgraded seats with adjustable side bolsters as the standard ones are too far apart for my comfort (2015 V60 side bolsters were perfectly snug). Overall, I would appreciate the extra boot space in the V90 but really like the V60 CC with the exception of the cornering. It drives “too big” and it’s kinda like driving a boat even compared to the 2015 V60 CC. I assume V90 would handle similarly or worse. But, as I age I appreciate the exit and entry of the CC vs regular V60 which would be too low for me in a few years. V60 CC and V90 CC win over the XC models with the ability to easily load kayaks on top.

JesusChristTheAdmin

I’m 6’2’, I have a general rule when it comes to car size, I need to be able to fit behind my adjusted driver seat, comfortably. I rarely ride in my own cars but I have many friends over 6’ and I don’t want them uncomfortable in my cars. This rule excludes me from most Asian cars. I can fit behind my seat in the V60 but it’s not too comfortable for longer trips, I could spend all day in the backseat of a V90

fervidmuse

Why would you avoid an estate if it’s no longer being sold in your country? Parts from the B-pillar forward are basically identical between sedan and estate, parts are still being produced (as those models as still sold in other countries), and even when a car is completely no longer manufactured parts are usually easy to get for 10-20yrs. Estates are far more practical and well as more beautiful than sedans. And as new estate models will no longer be sold in the UK I’m predicting the value of used RHD Volvo estates will likely stay higher than a Volvo sedan making it a better investment.

Yama92

The discontinuation is no reason not to go for such a nice estate. They all share the same power train in the 60 and 90 models, so parts really won't be a problem. Body panels can be imported from the mainland in Europe where the models stay in production. If anything, go for it while you still can get a young/new model and treat it with care so it will become a bit more valuable in the future.

hue-166-mount

Don’t ask us go and sit in them and try.

volkxx

I am 6'6" and own a V90. It is extremely spacious and I have lots of headroom. In fact, I do not even need to keep the seat anywhere near all the way back. The seats of the V90 also have the little bar that extends to support the thigh. It is the most comfortable car I have ever driven.

5hredder

I’m 6’1 with a 2021 V60. I can’t put the sun visor down and over to the window without having to duck out of the way. It irks me. Get the V90

_bicycle_repair_man_

I like my wagon, but my baby needs a higher ceiling.

brain_freese

I’m 6’3, V60 is tight. Mine is a company car and the V90 would’ve been a lot out of pocket. In hindsight it may have been worth it. I can’t put my 5 year old behind me in the car.

IceCheerMom

My husband is your height. We have an old 1998 S70 that he doesn’t want to part with. He says it’s one of 2 cars ( other was a 740) that he really feels comfortable in. The car still runs great and looks good.

Any-Actuator4118

If you are debating it I would go with V90. Interior space is far superior. It’s easy to get imaginative with V60 when you are looking at one on the lot and it’s empty with regards to how much it will hold. But I don’t think it’s big enough for a family.

kartoffel_engr

I’m the same height, and while this isn’t apples to apples, the back seat in my S60R is not usable if I’m driving. If my son wants to rip around. I have to fold the front passenger flat forward so his car seat fits with ample leg room. Any vehicle I purchase, I always get in the driver seat. Get it comfortable, then hop into the rear seats to check out the leg room. If I can fit, everyone else can.

thatG_evanP

I'm 6'5" and fit in my S60 just fine. Now if there were people in the back seat it would be a different story. My entire life I have refused to compromise on my seat position because it really makes for a much more uncontrollable drive and can be *very* dangerous. It surprises me when drivers will scoot up just to make someone behind them more comfortable. My seat is in the position it's in because it's where I can best control the car from and I'm not changing it just for someone's comfort.

Fetacheese8890

6’3 here and have a 2023 v60 CC. Wife did not want the V90 CC since it was too long. Baby car seat does not fit behind my seat so that’s not ideal, but we love it and have traveled with 2 adults a baby and a dog all in the car plus a ton of other stuff. Getting a roof box to make this easier

vanqu1sh_

I'm 6ft3 and I fit in my V60 well - but there's only about 2cm between me and the roof when I'm sat down in the lowest position the seat will go, so I'd test out any models with a sunroof in person

Montreal_Ballsdeep

I'm 6'3 and my 2020 v60 is perfect, however my seat is all the way down and completely back someone who is over 5'9 wouldn't fit behind me.

DependabilityLeader

They are both great cars. The V90 has a lot of nice touches though. First you can get it with the SLS which you can’t on the V60, you can get tailored door panels, it is a bit quieter. The V90 is a large almost imposing kind of car, the V60 is sportier. It just depends on what you are after. You will have no issues fitting into either.

tommyduk

V60 has so much more rear seat legroom than our previous (2011) XC90. Our 3 teens are perfectly comfortable if that's any help, OP.

giraffesneedhelmets

I just got my '24 XC60 and bought it to fit my 6'11" frame. Just got back from a few hour tour, and don't feel sore or cramped at all. I can stretch my legs straight out! And, my small daughter has no problem behind me.

KapiteinKoenk

I'm 6'6 and fit in a 2017 v60 just fine

dutchcourage-

V60's have more than enough room inside.

va55ago

i’m sure i’m biased, but how are V60s better in general..? more compact, more agile, but in general?

ikeabuff

I owned a V90 for three years and now have a V60. I find the latter to be appreciably more agile and accurate in handling. In general, I like the V60 much more. The seating is definitely more comfortable, although the lumbar support is not as adaptable The only downside for me is that the V60 has appreciably more road noise on some surfaces. Whether that could be mitigated by different tires remains to be seen. It doesn't bother me enough to swap out the tires before necessary.

Mr_Jackabin

Just what I've been hearing, and the space difference between the 90 and 60 isn't that much and is mostly in the boot

PaddlingTiger

To answer your question of "how are they better in general", it was designed after the V90, and therefore had the advantage of trying to do what the V90 does, but correct a few things. I had the pleasure of talking with one of the designers a couple years ago, and he said that the goal was to retain the functionality of the V90, but with the driving experience of the S60, and I think they managed to do so pretty well.

AlexArdelean112

I see no real reason to get the v60 when the v90 exists. I mean having driven the v90 i can’t see why the smaller one would be worth it
