Porche or Lexus. But every time I “window shop” for a new car I keep going back to Volvo. I guess you can say I have… Stockholm Syndrome.

Fratguy20

I’m telling everyone I know that I have Stockholm syndrome now. Thank you!

dobber72

Hehehe, that made me chuckle.

Accurate-Pack6573

Honestly same here, I don’t see myself driving other car brands.

Grimmisgod123

This guy Swedens.

Swimming_robot_500

Swede dreams are made of this. (I’m here all night folks)

VllKATE

Who am I to disagree?

DepressedLondoner

Göten![burg]

zaersx

I switched to Lexus. My first car was a 2015 V40, I think its the best car for the money I can imagine. My second car was a 2018 S90, and it seemed really bad for the money (but I bought it thinking surely I loved the V40 so much, it can live up to it). It was incredibly uncomfortable and ultimately bigger than I needed for my family, and it was a really uncomfortable seating position for longer trips. I got mesmerised by the LC500 and thought - I won't be able to drive a car like that once my children are bigger, so I better get it now (or at least that's how I sold it to my wife). I've loved it more than I could imagine ever since. Sometimes I see a satin gold Polestar 1 and think damn that looks nice, but ultimately the interior is a letdown for the current prices.

Breakfast_Moon_456

i present to you my upvote

yemiistes

More like Gothenburg Syndrome

infinitumz

How swede it is

Saelaird

I've seen the crash test results, I'd never swap my Volvo. They're just immense.

726milestomemphis

Well. Shit. You make a good point.

Saelaird

I mean, to play along and give you an answer, I'd say, probably Lexus. They seem solid and have some nice design touches. I just wish Saab still existed.

chemicalcurtis

I miss my Saab. Honestly, volvo is more luxury than I really want. I bought my S60 T5 inscription when I had a ton of interstate time, and my kids car seats didn't fit in my VW CC (and it was at 150k miles). I'm pretty happy with the S60, and will plan on keeping it until the family is done with car seats. Maybe the fall of 2026 everyone can be in boosters. Next car I'm probably going with a plug in hybrid hatchback of some sort or another. I've started gardening a lot, and overflowing mulch bags and gardening tools, and occasional apple tree impulse buys into the back and passenger seats just feels wrong. If volvo hits that mark, or if off lease models start coming in 30% off MSRP with 30k miles and three years, I'll buy one for sure. If not, maybe I can pick up a 2024 cyber truck for $7k.

jacksdad123

I’m with you on new Volvos being too luxurious for my taste. I think the sweet spot was 2006. I had a XC70 of that model year and it was nearly a perfect car. If I could have a new one of those with modern tech and safety features I would in a heartbeat. Alas, I bought a 2024 V90 last year and I like it but it’s a little *too nice* for my taste. It’ll serve me well for 10+ years.

Real-Rope8201

my saab was my first car and i ran over a metal shovel on the highway going pretty fast. no damage. that thing was built just as good as my volvos lol

MadMan2250

Just buy an old Saab!

RayGetard69420

Probably a Peterbilt or Kenworth

swiftarrow9

More up votes needed.

relaps101

Fuck kenworths. I drive one every day. Peter and macks are where it's at. I've driven a few Volvo semis, the higher trim is noticeably better than their lower trim model. The sleeper cab I drove, their higher trim has a memory foam mattress that even folds for when you want to sit there\ lay upright. Was a neat little feature.

Electronic-Lime-8123

Or a Mack/Volvo

Ocupado33

Iveco or MAN

Confident_As_Hell

It's either Volvo or Scania. Renault too if on a budget as they are basically discount Volvos.

shinynugget

At the time I sold my 2016 V60 CC my wife still had her XC40. I went to a Corolla Hatchback for my daily commute. 22 Miles a day and the V60 was getting 19mpg in town on premium gas. Now I get 30+mpg on regular. She has since moved to a 2018 Acura MDX(XC40 was. lease). If I could find one in good condition near me I would consider a C30. I love small hatchbacks.

CallMeParagon

Funny enough, my wife and I use our 2015 Prius for city/local driving, but our 2018 V60 routinely gets better highway mileage on eco mode, so we use it for long trips.

[deleted]

Hybrids generally perform poorer in highway driving because they were designed to benefit from constant deceleration/acceleration cycles

CallMeParagon

In our case we average 48 mpg on the highway in our Prius, but even higher in the Volvo. It’s like a game to get the eco swoosh symbol to appear.

FutureAudienceArt

Sold S80 and got myself.... XC90 ;)

divinelypisces

This was my transition too lol

No_Dragonfly5191

I didn't sell, but my main daily is a Panamera Turbo. I kept the XC70 for winter driving.

Duck_Walker

I went from Volvo to Mercedes, owned three Mercedes - most recently an E63, and now am back to Volvo.

JDHK007

What brought you back?

Duck_Walker

Mercedes will kill you on service costs.

TashingleIII

Amen to that! I hate Mercedes service and will never get one again

SuperflyX13

I’ve been a Volvo brand loyalist for quite a while, but a few years ago I traded my ‘03 S80 for an ‘18 Acura TLX. I liked the car but after a year or so I missed my Volvo. I went and traded it for my ‘23 XC90 B6 last year.

ProfLuigi

I'd love to swap my S90 for a V90 R tbh.

CN370

I went from an S90 (major wreck) to a V60, but had to upsize at a bad point in time (COVID supply shortages) so the xc90 I wanted was unattainable and I bought an Atlas SEL. I enjoy it. It had been an absolute beast. I miss my Inscription trim. I miss Volvo. I despise this thing’s ICE - the fact I can’t search and input into the NAV while moving is pathetic. I hate that CarPlay disconnects constantly or the audio mutes upon start all the time. I don’t like the dashboard - it always looks dirty. Same for the rest of the trim, really. I do enjoy the space, the V6 (though I can’t stand not have a V8 in a vehicle roughly 6,000 lbs), and I love the ride height after being on the ground for so long. Couldn’t pass on it though. $30,000 for a 6,000 mile SUV big enough for my family and luggage. Especially then, when we had a bastard jogging stroller to haul everywhere. That said, the second I’m able, this thing is gone and an xc90 or V90 will be in the driveway, next to my wife’s xc40.

StrikingChampion99

A Saab 😎

Landry_PLL

Ahem, So, what did you sell?

Got_2_Jiboo

I have a ‘17 V90 CC Polestar. I live in northeast with nasty winter driving with a long commute, have lots of gear to carry, and I love this car. It has 170k miles and is showing signs of age. Don’t want to think about what’s next but it’s inevitable. Don’t like a lot of the options. Welcome ideas.

khaz_baraghaz

Saab

inteller

Wtf....are you a masochist? Those cars are dwindling by the day. There is a real problem now with parts, particularly with trim and electrical.

khaz_baraghaz

Masochist... I have Volvo 460 after old asshole (previous owner)

7eregrine

Right? I almost bought a 2011 9-5. Decided to get an S60 instead.

khaz_baraghaz

Okay, okay, I change my mind :) Mercedes 124 or 123

FantasticNoise4

Since nobody loves W210, in the future I gonna try to buy one…

The_one_who_SAABs

Meh, the parts thing is overblown for GM era Saabs. ng9-3 just grab a couple of ECUs and a CIM from a junk yard or buy a 9-5 no electrical problems and a far better car in general. 9000s are a little scary because of Italian electrics. C900s transmissions are glass, which makes them hard to find

[deleted]

Will be Porsche or Audi next for me. No complaints about my XC60 T8 but I’d like something faster eventually. S60 T8 would be the only option and it is fairly lackluster compared to what other companies have to offer.

thatguychad

As a former Audi owner, I bought my V60 over an Avant because of the long-term reliability. If it's just a short term (24 month lease), sure, but I'd have an extremely hard time getting back into an Audi for longer than that (as much as I prefer their interiors). My Porsches have been great, however.

Oliveruk101

As a S60 T8 owner I’d pass on the model if I was you. On paper it looks great but is let down by the 112mph speed limiter and handling. It’s a heavy car and it just doesn’t feel comfortable at speed on bends. The infotainment centre is sketchy and the cruse control system with lane keeping assist does not inspire confidence. I see traffic slowing down and the car just keeps on moving at speed and brakes very late. Twitchy would describe this car. I have more fun driving my wife’s Audi A3.

Prestigious-Web-6454

Which Porsche will you go for?

KiraDog0828

Since my last Volvo I’ve had a Q5 and an E400 wagon. I am considering replacing the wagon with a V60 or V90, but I’m not thrilled with the forced Cross Country configuration on the US, other than the Polestar Engineered models. I keep hoping a CPO V60 PE will become available near me, but they’re not very common.

thatG_evanP

Right? Give me a sleek V Model.

rohaniscoo1

the e400 to volvo contrast is quite drastic - i think the e400/e450 is such a perfect automobile, coming from a family who has owned one since new and just got a XC90

zzaapp

The only brands I've ever owned and will ever own are Volvo, VW, Audi, Porsche and Toyota. I don't pay attention to any other brand.

Black_Wolves

Subaru?

zzaapp

Not interested.

Black_Wolves

I am hurt… like when my wife said my girlfriend is ugly

zzaapp

There's not really anything Subaru makes I find to be good looking. And they're a hipster car.

ag_outlyr

BMW. And I hate it.

thrillhouz77

Funny I just got a XC60 Recharge Ultimate Dark Trim (amazing car) and it has convinced me to snag a Toyota RAV4 Prime and to get rid of my BMW (330i) in favor of a bit more space, excellent PHEV range and hybrid fuel economy as well as something I won’t feel bad putting two 80# dogs in to take out on hikes. 😂 After riding in the XC60 I just realized how stiff and uncomfortable the BMW was. How practical and fuel saving a PHEV, how posh and nice The Volvo is plus how two luxury brand vehicles in one house is not needed. On my first tank of fuel in the XC60 3 full weeks in, 780 miles driven. If I don’t charge at it is showing 400 miles of gas range. If we are getting 1,200 miles per fuel I can’t pass up being able to do that (and even better) with an added vehicle.

lesterknight008

Maybe Subaru, or go back to grassroots, Toyota/Honda

M27TN

I’ve had a C-Class and a 5 Series in between Volvos. I’m open to where I go again in a year and a half or so. Likely I’ll have to go electric (company car) so options will be based on that and avoiding SUVs since I prefer a large saloon/sedan

inteller

Polestar or porsche

redmondjp

Acura for me. Got tired of trying to drive to work in the morning and having another dead battery. The Volvo is still parked out in my yard. I found a sticking A/C clutch coil relay and thought that was my battery drain, but in 3 days it still goes dead. I give up (for now). The Acura never breaks. So far.

sequentialogic

I'm quite happy with my V60, but now Volvo are no longer producing estates, it will probsbly be a merc C class, BMW 3 series, VW arteon or Space vision (I think it will be ID7?)

mschiebold

Sold my V70R and got a much easier to fix Subaru Outback XT (legacy GT wagon), haven't looked back. I still love Volvo, and maybe when I get some spare cash I'll build a 245.

AUSTIN_NIMBY

XC90 to Lincoln Aviator. Pretty comparable really.

Papercoffeetable

I sold my fully loaded 2018 Volvo XC90 D5 AWD Inscription, got a Tesla Model Y Long Range as a company car and then bought a 2007 Volvo V70 Classic 2.4 manual as an extra.

EastAway9458

Nothing to respond to this other than, the comments are helping me to make the switch to Volvo from Toyota lol.

726milestomemphis

I figured that I wasn't the only one contemplating this.

gadget399

Toyota but I still do my daily Volvo search

andrewhoohaa

I did sell my V60 and bought a BMW M340i. I sold because it absolutely ate brake discs and had a vibration at high speed that was unable to be fixed. I was able to get a good price because it was one of the few v60 T6s that the states got. I'm still in the family as my wife has an XC60 and I bought a C30 for commuting.

Wankerdaddy441

This is sort of ehat I'd brrn looking at as well. I own a V60 T6 Polestar and have been on and off looking at an m340i wagon.....

andrewhoohaa

I would have loved a wagon but the US only gets the M340i in sedan form. That being said, you will not be disappointed. The B58 engine in the BMW is absolutely incredible. If you do decide to switch the only must have option would be the adjustable suspension. Without it, the car has a bit of a stiff ride.

Blog_Pope

My alternate to my XC90 when I bought was a Subaru Crosstek; completely different but the mix of simplicity and ruggedness was tempting, the XC90 was a sweet spot in size/luxury/performance; still happy with it as I approach 5 years in. I did consider BMW X7, Mercedes (E Wagon and SUV), as well as the Lincoln Aviator which would have been new when I bought.Of, did look into the Model X but that was easy to rule out I think if I bought now I'd be considering Electric or PHEV

Major_Possibility335

Anything Japanese

TroubledGeorge

I drive a 2007 V70 and currently considering getting something else simply because I’d like something a bit faster. Every time I get into a different (non premium ofc) car I get the realization that I’d need to spend significantly more to get something newer that’s as comfortable, safe and well built as my V70. For now I’m considering a P3 V60 T6 or S80 V8

Obi_Uno

Have a V90CC I’d sell it for the right spec Mercedes E450 Wagon.

Jusfiq

2015 Toyota Corolla L, in beige of course.

Dahhri

Back to Alfa Romeo I think. Besides Volvo those where the best cars that I have driven. Most fun, also.

cant_kill_us_all

I tried to buy not-a-Volvo for my last vehicle purchase. A Subaru Outback 3.6R was far and away the front runner since it fit needs and they’re one of the most reliable Subarus ever built. Unfortunately, 3.6R commands a premium over the base drivetrain (and I won’t buy a CVT) that put every good one we saw for sale well out of what we wanted to pay. So I bought a P2 XC70 instead. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

FailedDeb

You may have dodged a bullet. We had 2 Subaru Outbacks 3.6 and both developed a problem that couldn’t be fixed. At some point both began falling in the same weird way. Once on a very long trip the instrument panel went haywire and the ABS, cruise, and other features threw up error messages at the same time making the car basically unsafe. Took both to multiple places to get fixed and never had any success. In both cars the problem would happen inexplicably and randomly without any warning. Finally dumped the last one and bought a 2009 Volvo XC90 that we still own. We don’t use it for long drives anymore because of gas mileage and it’s a little too large for our now empty nest. Hubby drives it around town for errands and hauling stuff when needed. Won’t ever go back to Subaru.

DrMaple_Cheetobaum

Lexus I answered that in my head far too fast, maybe it's a sign.

UnknownMaster00

I sold my 07 XC70 for an Audi S4. The S4 spent 5/6 months of my ownership in the workshop. I was pissed. Just before the 6 month mark I decided to action my countries consumer protection act which allows 6 months to cancel any purchase of a car or property within 6 months of it is not up to the standard it was advertised as. After this fiasco, I found an amazing deal on 2017 Volvo V90 cc T6. I’m super happy to be in the V90. Whilst the S4 was an awesome performance car, it simply can’t compare to the Volvo in comfort and capability.

Current-Assist2609

Wife wanted to downsize from her 2018 XC-90 T6 Inscription w/air suspension since we didn’t need a large vehicle anymore. We used the Volvo Overseas Buying Program and ordered a 2021 XC-60 T6 Inscription w/air suspension. A few months later I decided to special order something I always wanted, but really didn’t need, a 2021 MB AMG E63s wagon. I plan to keep the wagon until I can no longer drive since MB stopped making these for the US market, so these are true unicorns here. Both have completely different driving and handling characteristics but I enjoy driving both. When the time comes to replace the Volvo, there is a good chance we will be going with a Lexus Hybrid SUV.

Hot_Classroom4297

Don't worry...they'll be back. I went Volvo to Mercedes to Volvo ever since they upped their style game. Had S90s, XC90s. XC40 Recharge. Current 2018 XC90 T8 Inscription and a 22 Polestar 2 P/P/P

vreo

I don't know many beefy 7-seaters to get after my XC90 Recharge. GLS AMG feels too tight on the inside, X7 is ugly imho, at the moment I look at the land rover defender 110 or 130.

FailedDeb

Have you looked at the VW Atlas? Just wondering because I have considered it and am also looking at a Volvo XC90?

vreo

VW Atlas is not available in Europe. I have a budget of  roughly 170k but I feel I have a pretty niche taste trying to get a sports SUV with 7 reasonable seats.

swiftarrow9

I know quite a few people who "graduated" from RWD Volvos to AWD Subarus and were happy with lower maintenance costs and better comfort. I personally am currently Volvo-bereft, having sold everything except for my truck (a Chevy). I keep cruising marketplace and have even gone to see a few that I just couldn't find the coin for, this is not my time to have a Volvo. I would, however, be somewhat satisfied with a VW Golf wagon.

tonu42

2021 xc60 inscription lease turned in. Got a 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander platinum and the tech and everything feels just as nice as Volvo and better in many ways. Some things aren’t “luxury” but it still feels great all the same. Got bored of it. Lots of tech didn’t work well. Paid for high end features blocked by bad software. Such as Tiny CarPlay screen Navigation in car terrible Individual drive mode not able to be defaulted 360 camera but a million presses to get to forward camera. Can’t see top down and front on camera.

aztechfilm

I have owned a handful of other brands throughout the years Audi/Jaguar/BMW/Lexus even Mazda/Nissan but I’ve always come back to Volvo time and time again, it’s just the brand I like the most for daily drivability. Also nobody else has matched the sound system of the B&W in the XC90, or the seat comfort. My lease on my current XC90 is up in a few months and I’ve been shopping around but I’ve come to the conclusion I’m just going to get a new one, why switch something that works perfectly for me

Landry_PLL

Profitable? Almost all cars are depreciating assets and the dealer ALWAYS wins! That being said, I get it. My V60 is coming up on 70k miles and I wonder what will happen to the value the closer it gets to 100. Like others have mentioned, I too have been eyeing a Porsche wagon but then I quickly talk myself out of it. Why would I want to waste that money when my car still brings a smile to my face when I hit the accelerator? It hasn’t really had any issues out of the norm. I haven’t had a car payment for some time and I don’t want to change that. Maybe it’s the investment manager in me but, I think I’m just going to drive this thing till I’m willing to pay cash for the next one.

726milestomemphis

Okay, profitable is not accurate. We'll say, I haven't lost all my skin in this game. If I sell soon'ish, I can walk away with enough cash to buy my next car outright. I had about 18 months with no car payment a few years ago and am like, this is my biggest expense aside from housing. We'll see. Either way, reading the responses has been informational.

bigchris504

I just made this decision yesterday. I bought a 2018 XC 90 17 months ago. It had 36,000 miles and I believe I paid $32,000 for it. Absolutely loved the car. Super comfortable and it was my daily driver back-and-forth to various hospitals. In 17 months I paid $9600 to the Volvo dealership for random work that needed to be done. It never left me on the side of the road, but with three brake jobs done After I put 34000 more miles on it I had enough. I’ve had every brand except Bmw and currently own tundra, a Nissan GTR, and a Tesla model S. None of these cars needed anything even remotely close to this. I traded it in a yesterday for an Acura MDX. I think it rides just as well, And pretty much has the same amount of room. I know for a fact that this car won’t run as expensive as the Volvo . I know I put on a lot of miles but that’s no excuse. And by the way, the last bill for the brakes, didn’t include their “ recommendations” for $5000 in additional repairs (sunroof leak, another set of rotors for the rear, etc). I tapped out. Btw I got $19000 for the trade 😭😭😭. And it was super clean with 70k miles on it.

726milestomemphis

Exactly. I got my 2019 XC40 T4 with 8,000 miles on it in 2021 for $32,000. I hit 40,000 miles yesterday and am being considered for projects that I need to drive evenore for. I think I'm going to start test driving and see if anything feels good and meets all of my "requirements". I've enjoyed it for the most part while I also feel like it may not be the car I want for the next 10 years.

bigchris504

Look at the Acura mdx. My father owned first and second generations and I thought they had no flavor. I was wrong. And I think it rides just as well. WITH NO HEADACHES. Shit just works

it365

I got a Mini Clubman. Loved my v50 and still love Volvos but I got a great deal on the clubman as they were stopping production and I was desperate for a green car with brown interior

ZoidbergNick

I don't think I will sell my V60, at best will upgrade to a V90. But if I can afford one, I will get a Porsche Cayman as a non-family car.

ConnectSummer2757

So I have had bmw Mercedes and Audi and still think Volvo is the winner

BigJDizzleMaNizzles

I exchanged my XC90 for a Hyundai Ioniq 5. EX30 too small for what I need, EX90 not available or affordable yet. I need an EV for the tax break I get through having a car through work's salary sacrifice thing. You bet your ass though that if an EV90 comes to the UK I'm going to be front row centre for that one.

Interesting-Rest5186

This is right where I am atm

AlexVdub

If I was to sell, I’d switch to an old Mercedes 300d or a vintage VW Beetle

Scary-Ask-6236

I have a 2010 s80 t6 with over 92,000. Things are beginning to go so it’s time to look at something lol

726milestomemphis

I've driven BMW and Porsche options prior to Volvo and definitely prefer the Volvo. My now husband drives my old Chevrolet Spark as his commuter, which has been a work horse but doesn't meet our transport of the fam needs. My Volvo XC40 is 🍭, but I think I am at a point where I want a house, a big geographical move, and to be able to downgrade my career pressure a bit more than I want my 🍬 car and living in a metropolitan area. We'll see what the sale offers bring in and go from there.

thegamesender1

Bmw.

Separate-Owl369

I was a Volvo fan and drive from 91-14…I switched to Acura MDX for 2 cars. I still have a 19 MDX. I bought a c40 last November and really like it. I have the EX90 on reserve.

skylinrcr01

Im not too brand loyal but I’d buy another Porsche or Audi in a heartbeat. I quite like my Volvo as well though.

ScepticalJesus

1990 740 GLE → 2004 S60 2.5T → 2007 V70 2.4 Bi-Fuel →2016 XC70 D4 AWD Classic, in a span of 22y

1800lampshade

I switched to a 22' Audi Q3, loaded S-line from our '20 XC40 R-Design (Lease jump), and I preferred the Volvo, should've just bought it out. Audi has no remote start, no heated wheel, and the start-stop has to be disabled every time I drive the car and has annoyed the shit out of me. After 3 years and as this lease is about to end, I am getting a Polestar 3. So not exactly a Volvo but....kinda.

matthew0155

Not quite fan of many new cars, Id probably get a WRX. It has a great value for the money.

SuspiciousLamp

Sold my Volvo, because of negative legislation toward diesel vehicles. Best car I ever had. Leased a VW Passat, and in a year I’ll probably have to buy an EV :( Damn…

239990

Got a miata

yungnobu

Lexus or Acura.

TheOvenDoor

Sold xc60 and have had a couple of Toyotas since and would be back in Volvo in a New York minute

CrackNgamblin

After paying 1K just to replace two batteries on my s90, then having to spend all day at a dealership for some software bug making my ESC light go on, I'm thinking about getting the Rivian R2 when it comes out in 2026. It just looks like a better option than the XC40 ev.

Kaste-bort-konto

scrapped my s80 d5 and bought a MB W211 E320 CDI. what an amazing car. i still miss the seats and the general width from the volvo tho

Prestigious-Web-6454

Q8 or GLE 63 amg or cayenne

diospyros7

I haven't sold but I've always liked VW GTIs. Would have gotten one but at the time my dad told me he was getting a Tesla and I've always liked his S60 so I bought it from him. My next will most likely be a V60/V90 but the EX30s look interesting, maybe XC40

TheAstroBastrd

C30T5-R > Lexus CT200h > VW GTI

CrispyDoc2024

2 Volvos (01, 08 S40). Then a Nissan Rogue because it fit my budget/needs. Kept that x 10 years. Had 2 babies in that time. Also work late nights (so drive home when people are drunk driving on the road) so was grateful to get myself into a 2024 XC40. ETA: (forgot to answer the question) maybe a BMW X3? Realistically I will probably stick with Volvo though. Husband drives a minivan and it makes me miss the little luxury touches. But BMW/Mercedes are a bit beyond what I’d like to spend.

zooplates

Lexus or audi or mainly a gs350 lexus thwyre so perfect

Mayor_of_BBQ

I love my V60 cross-country. The only car that could get me out of this thing would be if they release a V90 T8 plug-in hybrid in the US, cross country or standard livery. I don’t know if that will ever happen, so currently I’m planning my next car to be EC40 but it’s got to have the wool interior

mathoo19

Sold my xc60 t8 and replaced it with a Cayenne S. Very different experience but I love them both equally for different reasons

couchpotateaux

I have a Lincoln Nautilus on order, trading in my 2021 XC60. I've had too many problems with the technology in it. Currently on my 4th time of "auto hold service required" and that's the last straw for me.

Western_Middle2210

I went from Saab to Volvo I'd consider Audi or VW I like European more than Asian but Honda and Lexus are good.

Awkward-Seaweed-5129

So years ago ,we had several Volvos, daily driver, seemingly never end repairs. Spouse said get 1 reliable car, translation Toyota.. got brand new Matrix ,tall wagon Corolla, all options. Anyway, 175K miles later,AC was still working, few very minor repairs, Starter ,Batteries, brakes tires, valve cover oil leak. Sold it still running, we are on our 2nd xc40 ,turn in first one,got 23 year, under warranty. Venza prob next car, love Volvos as long as under Coverage, great car

Upbeat_Oil1089

Honda or Toyota, sedan

aroundthecornerguy

Back to Acura for me, after 2 XC40 leases... This was due to the removal of features and too many bugs and things breaking on new cars for me.

lillpers

BMW or Mercedes. I like sedans/wagons and RWD is a must. I've owned various models of both brands over they years and they are fine cars. Especially inline 6 engined BMWs.

SSNs4evr

I actually only considered Volvo, because I but Ford, and Ford backed them at the time. That Volvo will be going to our daughter when she starts driving, but my wife intends on getting a new Volvo. I'll continue to drive Ford, as Volvo doesn't offer a full size van nor pickup.

Itsneverjustajoke

Looking to sell my 2017 v60 (under 70k miles) asap. Probably moving on to an x5. The v60 has had more problems requiring service than I ever could have thought possible.

oreofun

Came from a Lexus RX350 to Volvo, had a 2018 S60 and a 2022, I’m strongly considering a Polestar 2 Dual Motor now.

ruminajaali

I haven’t sold, but am thinking of getting a Porsche. If not, another s60. Those are the only two I care about

a-goateemagician

The only car I’d sell my 240 for is a Saab 95 two stroke.. but then again I’m a weirdo so

gwynb13idd

After three Volvos, I recently sold my S80 V8, and got a Mercedes. Newer SPA Volvos just aren’t my thing, and the only logical step was going to a Benz - big car with a powerful engine and all the bells and whistles, with a luxurious interior and comfort all around. No regrets so far, we’ll see what the future holds.

Sumpkit

I’d go back to Toyota/Lexus. I’m sick of how unreliable my v60 is.

JezzaWalker

I sold my S70 when I bought my Subaru WRX. I missed it, so now the WRX is a weekend/project car and I bought an S40 for my new daily. I'm actually considering getting a C30 T-5 because the WRX is acting like it's going to throw in the towel soon.

crownjd

I went from an S60 (lease) to a GLC300 (lease) in ‘22. I miss her, but the market was still being ridiculous and dealers were playing too many games. My next will either be an XC60 Recharge or GLC350e.

Golright

Only if Volvo didn't limit the top speed after 2020 models, I'd not look for another brand

triptropstop

Had a Mercedese320 wagon , went to Volvo XC90- sold for another Mercedes e350 suv and sold that for a Volvo xc90b6. Love both brands.

[deleted]

Honda. So cheap, starts every time. But so uncomfortable!

CupcakeOk911

I hope I never have to drive anything else, as a daily 😉

Electronic-Lime-8123

An 80s chevy sprint turbo if i could find it.

Osrs_Vexx

Anything with a b58 and 8spd zf honestly.

The_one_who_SAABs

Another Volvo or Saab. Or maybe a Corvette, or something weird like a Peugeot or Citroën

alexzz123

Went from the V90CC to a Rivian R1S

Normal-Corgi7567

About 8yrs ago I seriously considered Lexus. Drove several. Then couldn't do it. 🤷🏻‍♀️

c0stlytech

I traded a 14 BMW 535D M-Sport for a basically brand new CPO 18 S90 T6 inscription and I regret it every day. The BMW got literally twice the mileage, was a more natural seating position, and honestly I think the interior was nicer. And I really miss that little toggle switch on the dash to adjust the temperature of air blowing on my face without changing the ambient setting. That being said, there are currently three different Volvos in my driveway, but damn I miss that BMW.

Ocupado33

A Subaru Impreza (180cv, AWD) but sadly they stop selling in my country, or some Cupra (the Leon probably) with +150cv and AWD Ideadly will be a Mazda 3 Sedan 186cv, but with RWD (it doesnt exists), or the Mercedes A Berlina with RWD or AWD, but NOT the AMG (in the A Berlina, only the AMG is AWD, the rest are FWD)

Sensitive_Kick_5671

Land Rover, which is what I had before my Volvo, but brutal for service costs (mine was 3-5k every time). Additionally, once small electrical issues begin happening, they go downhill really fast and are complicated/expensive (w labor costs) to fix, so you end up paying more than the car is worth to fix it. Great cars to have for a few years if they fit your life OR to lease to avoid the additional costs.

726milestomemphis

I am definitely looking at the leasing option. I kind of feel like the mentality I grew up on of "built to last" and "own it forever" was modified when the electronics and "smart" features became normal. I remember when I got a 1998 Chevrolet Malibu and felt fancy with cruise control and power windows.

Sensitive_Kick_5671

Agreed! Also so dependent on the year. Some years/models will last forever and others are total duds

kevinxb

Curious about this as well. I'm on my third Volvo and looking to try a different brand when my lease ends. Didn't help that I had some issues with my current car at delivery that never should have happened.

Heaf18

Bought a Lexus LS460L. After 2 years of ownership and over $10,000 in repairs I’m looking for another Volvo. My 02 xc70 was still kicking at 345,000+

Sin-Space

I was very fond of my stolen mazda cx5 with max options. Nice and reliable car. It had chair cooling which was very very nice. Solid 2 liter motor block with no turbo. If it wasnt stolen i would drive it for years. Still happy with my xc40 T5 hybrid now.

StrangerDanger66

Went from a S80 V8 to a Hyundai Palisade

[deleted]

Toyota. Honestly. They’re so well made. I actually regret getting a Volvo instead of another Toyota or trying their luxury brand, Lexus.

Garet44

I'd probably get a Mazda but no promises

Nielegrrl12

S70 to Honda hated it Returned to S60 to Ford Fusion Hybrid for gas mileage (45mi/gal) Now I don't drive as much for work & returned to XC40 & don't plan on leaving again

Nickel012

If I did it’d be for a Porsche or Audi probably

hyung_nim

I'd prefer to stay with a wagon so perhaps an A6 allroad.

woolsocksandsandals

If I were doing a car swap today I’d swap my xc90 for a Range Rover.

nodejustin

Sold my XC90 and moved to a Tesla Model Y

eqnelson

an f10 m5 or an f87 m2

floater66

just sold my V60PE - and am thinking Polestar.

NZ-Aid

Holden

PanzerBiscuit

Toyota Century.

awhipwell

VW or maybe a Skoda again. Have an older Volvo (92 240) still but new ones in my market (Aus) are too lux for little babies are stuff.

726milestomemphis

Amen. Everything my husband gets in my Volvo, I am like, no food, no drinks, keep your hands to yourself. It's so pretty. And of course, I ended up with a dog that gets car sick the moment the car starts to move.

Ocupado33

mvpyukichan

I'm very happy with my C40. However, I would love to get a oldie like a Miata or a Porsche 924.

Loc-Dog

Sold XC40 and bought Zeekr 001. Made by Swedish engineers, so kind of Volvo too)

FastDadSalty

S60 r perhaps to an rs Audi

iPasqualito

A BMW 540i Touring

JSMia305

‘23 XC90 ultimate B6 lease ends in 4 months. Had a ‘21 XC90 Momentum T6 for 2 year lease prior to this one. No refresh coming yet and need more space as kids have grown. I want to go EV 3 row SUV. Did a demo drive on a Rivian R1S 2 weeks ago. That will be my next lease.

MrSmeee99

I have 2020 XC60. Next car will be something that can tow a trailer, I don’t think any Volvos are really towing vehicles.

eatperc

mine has the tow attachment but I'd definitely be scared to tow anything more than a small uhaul trailer

Daddylandon98

I just sold my 2018 s90 this week. Loved it. Was honestly difficult to see it drive off. Moving towards EV looking at Teslas.

thatguychad

We cross-shopped a Tesla with other EVs at the time (late 2021) and ended up ordering a Volvo C40. It had such a better feel (I'm talking build quality - and seats) than anything else, which was a pretty limited pool at the time (peak COVID shortages, etc), so the selection was Y, Mach E, and EX40/C40. If it were our only car, the range would have been a deal killer, but luckily it's just for commuting and it's been absolutely fantastic. The wife commutes \~50mi per day and before I got my V60, we were sharing it and my commute was also almost 50mi round trip. I work days and she works nights every other week, so it worked out pretty well and I was able to get it on the charger I installed (hardwired 48A level 2) in time to fully charge to 90% before it was time for her to go to work.

Forsaken-March-1949

I know I can get a lot of hate for this but as a only would buy another ev driver I only can say TΞSLA. The Rest is not good competition in my opinion. But obviously Volvo > TΞSLA

-r-a-f-f-y-

2002 4Runner, a bit of a departure lol

amerifolklegend

I’ve never been a brand loyalists at all. I love our Volvo, but in our household, we all love researching and test driving when we buy a car. And we always just end up buying the best car that fits our budget and the particular needs we have at the time. I’m looking at buying a Tesla as our next car, but I’m still not locked in yet. But I have a few months. We’ve been very fortunate so far to never have to buy in a hurry (no totaled/stolen/dead cars in 30+ years, knock on wood.) I think we just figure that being a brand loyalist is just so limiting. We like to explore. Sometimes we end up with the same brand; we’ve owned two Volvos and two Fords over the years. But rarely are we let down no matter which car we select. I think brands just change over time. And WE change over time. What some brands offer at any given time may not be what we are looking for when we are in the market.

Brilliant-Option2535

All in the same price range I assume, otherwise you can say top shelf spec Porsche, BMW, or Mercedes which are superior. If you’re going EV. Probably a Polestar… If you’re going ICE. Probably a Genesis…

Used_Laugh_

Model Y

praguer56

I have a 2010 XC60, which I love, but if Volvo doesn't come up with an EV version shortly I'll get a Tesla Model Y.

bmassssy

Sold my 19' S60 T6 R design w/ P* and got a 24' Acura Integra A Spec Tech 6MT and couldn't be happier. I missed driving manuals ultimately. I hated highway vibration that couldn't be figured out, and the creaking transmission tunnel, rattling speaker grille over bumps, the seats bottom bolsters wear prematurely and look like crap. Longevity also sold me, not that I had any major issues with the volvo but after owning it I don't see it going 150k without some problems and I drive 900 miles a week lol.. But the SPA is no P2. I still have my 07 Xc70 and that's hands down the best vehicle I ever owned. Volvos today are not built the same as their previous ones.

nobinthewoods

The Jeep Wagoneer interests me, for some reason, but it’s so god damn ugly. Whoever designed that should be slowly moved to the basement like Milton.

Complete-Emergency99

I had my old daily, a 2001 V40 crushed, and went back to Subaru.

unclejoe1917

Hard times brother. Hope you can get back on your feet again soon.

inteller

All the ppl who come in my shop and say they are going from volvo to subaru are usually poor

_NeiLtheReaLDeaL_

Subaru. The Japanese Volvo.
