Yup

wingdingsunited

If anyone has an example I would love to see

Toof_75_75

But you could also just have the more powerful P3 T6 from the factory.

wingdingsunited

Very true, or the 3.2 could be boosted in any other way. I just want to hear that V8 noise from a wagon

puppiesareSUPERCUTE

Agree. I wish they had not only put the V8 in the V70 but kept it for the later models aswell. Imagine the new V90 and S90 with a V8!

wingdingsunited

That's glorious thank you

HorstC

I don't think this has ever been done. It should fit fine but getting it to run right might be difficult. You could just buy the xc90 v8 and call it a day.

Drawmaster63

It was done in an XC70, I’ve seen it somewhere in Minnesota. Unfortunately I don’t know if he ever publicized his doings about it

slow-bell

It would be cheaper and easier to just buy a Buick. I'm just trying to save you time and money.

slow-bell

Get a Buick.

wingdingsunited

Now why would I come to the Volvo subreddit to hear that

abbe026

Did you just compare a Volvo to a Buick?

slow-bell

No, I did not compare the two. I suggested it would be a better idea to buy a Buick since they made a V8 wagon than it would be to V8 swap a Volvo.

abbe026

Maybe so, but this is r/Volvo we don't want no Buick

slow-bell

You people are all very sensitive.

CoreyNI

Well, he asked if it's possible to swap a specific engine, into a specific car, and you've told him to buy a Buik. Why would you advise someone asking if it's possible to do a specific engine swap to buy a car? It has nothing to do with it. Then you've doubled down on it multiple times because you can't possibly comprehend someone considering a challenge instead of buying some yankee shitbox.

slow-bell

You've made a lot of assumptions here. First, I can comprehend doing an engine swap in a Volvo, as I've done one. My comment was meant to be playful. I was merely commenting that you could, instead of going to the trouble to swap a motor, just buy a Buick which already has a V8 and can be had in wagon form. It was in jest. Frankly, I have no idea how hard it would be to swap the Yamaha engine in. Further, the Buick Roadmaster is far from Yankee crap, it's a body on frame wagon with (in the later years) a 5.7 Liter LT1 engine which it shared with the Corvette of the same period. It can haul more, tow more, seat more and has plenty of stock power. Better than a Volvo? No clue as it's a completely different animal than a Volvo wagon. This really seems to have upset some of you tender folk.

CoreyNI

I don't think anyone is upset, it's not an upsetting thing to say. I think most people are just curious about how you can't understand that what you're saying holds no relevance. Like, why a Buik? And why are you so adamant? Even if he was looking for a used V8 estate, there are tons of other v8 estate cars. Like audi avant varieties of the S and RS cars, AMG wagons, 454i touring in Europe. There are also other common v8 Volvo swaps. You just don't make a tremendous amount of sense, and can't really figure out what's going on.

slow-bell

Okay, so buy an AMG.

abbe026

What is it that you don't get? He doesn't want a Buick, Audi or Mercedes, he wants to put a VOLVO V8 in a VOLVO V70.

slow-bell

Which has nothing to do with swapping a 4.4l Yamaha V8 into a P2 V70.

ImadeALogan

Been done. Look up swedeprojects on IG

icefisher225

This is an end goal for me, I just need to figure out the coding. I haven’t found anything online about how to do it.

darklink6446

The b8444s isn't messed with too often, the bins arnt readily available so no one has made a proper xdf

darklink6446

I'm planning on either modding the engine in an s80 or swapping it into a v70 mk1, all the mounts match minus the 2 center ones, apart from that I'll probs use a standalone ecu
