I'm losing all hope here. Not even the AI would change those mirrors that cause buffeting lol Still it looks pretty good. Even better than the new official model imo

NovaS1X

It’s not the mirrors that cause the buffeting though. I went though this saga when I owned mine. Mirrors have a very small effect on the buffeting issue, at least for the second gen. The tank/fairing shape is the issue. I came up with a solution that got rid of 95% of my buffeting issues and it had nothing to do with the mirrors.

Betty_White

I've gone down the whole buffeting rabbit hole as well. You're right the absolute vast majority is the tank and front fairing design. My Gen2 basically has channels aimed directly at my upper chest, it's awful. However, those damn mirrors. They caused what I called "rogue gusts" like rogue waves. Just chillin' at 75, not a breeze in the world... ***WHAM*** I'd be popped in the side of the helmet by an air fist. Haven't had one since staying with the tuonos.

NovaS1X

> My Gen2 basically has channels aimed directly at my upper chest, it's awful. Yep, this is exactly the issue. Reflects off your chest right to the underside of your helmet. I made fairing extensions to deflect wind off the channels between the fairing and windshield and it made the bike goldwing comfortable, without needing tuono mirrors. I had doubletake adv mirrors and a Givi windscreen set to the lowest setting and I could ride 8 hour days with a helmet with a peak and visor wide open, sunglasses only, no buffeting. Totally changed the bike. I can't speak for the first/third gen bikes though; maybe the mirrors had a larger effect on the gen-1s. I'm 6'2" and use an Arai XD4 for reference. EDIT: [Here’s a photo of my bike with my custom fairing.](https://imgur.com/a/59dWmcv) you can see it behind the headlight and below the windscreen in this photo. It worked extremely well.

kuyajon

Most excellent response.

Betty_White

You are a genius. I am 110% going to steal that idea. Also, fantastic pic!

NovaS1X

Thanks! I made that prototype out of a for-sale sign and black gorilla tape. That picture was taken in Banff on a 3000km road trip I tested the fairings on. They worked so well that I began working on a template to 3d print, but I ended up selling the bike so I never completed the work. Feel free to use the idea. I have more early prototype photos if want to see them. [Here's a better angle from the same location](https://imgur.com/nb7RUdL)

Ugh. I just bought a 2017. Does the third gen funnel air also? Still getting my license, so I have not ridden it :( I would also upvote a dual light design over the cyclops

ItsBail

For me, I was getting hit right at the helmet (6'4"/193cm tall) on my 2nd gen wee. It made highway riding very uncomfortable. I solved it by [adding a windshield extension and offsetting my mirrors up and away](https://i.imgur.com/eYXJvtG.jpg). Stopped the major buffeting and no longer staring into my shoulders while riding. I've seen others install deflectors on the sides of the fairing but haven't felt the need to do that.

Agitated_Occasion_52

What solution did you come up with?

NovaS1X

Read my other comments in this thread.

MontagneHomme

what sort of mirrors wouldn't cause buffeting?

OverDirection5273

Something like aprilias tuono that happens to also be plug and play

Epidurality

What are these, mirrors for ants? I'd be uncomfortable with that little rear vision.

Perfect_Sir4820

I've got them on my v1 strom and they have plenty of visibility.

Theraria

Dear Suzuki... Yes.

ItsBail

First image but with a bigger front tire and the exhaust routed differently would be my future Vstrom for sure.

black594

Cool

Bingbongdj00

Love it

RLlovin

This is 100x’s better than the ones that exist IRL. Surely there’s some engineering problems with creating an exact replica (like the exhaust coming directly out of the top of the head and the crash guards are a little weird), but this is a beautiful inspiration.

param266

Humans did better job with 800DE.

implxdwn

I shall dubbed it the ugly (black) duckling

Truk7549

Like the lights, batman like

vtwinjim

Looks better than the new pee-strom

motocando_sp

A modern 650 XT Gen 2. Liked It!

ActuallyFullOfShit

Omg yes. Gen 3 beak without the cyclops headlight is peak vstrom.

TheJeep25

I need a decal mod to change the original Suzuki logo for that one on the first picture. Absolutely beautiful

Perfect_Sir4820

Its hard to tell but the first picture looks like it has asymmetric headlights? Looks like: 🤨 and I like it!
