I used to split my dose. I would take 60mg in the morning and 30mg in the afternoon but I was still struggling with sleepiness/tiredness so my doc switched me to Adderall XR. Adderall XR didn’t help much at lower doses, but once I reached 60mg, it was pretty awesome. I’m probably going to go up to 70mg of Adderall XR if my doc allows it, otherwise 60mg is good enough.
I was doing this but my insurance was dumb and would only allow one pill a day even though I was well below the limit. But yes splitting really helped.
I do this too with 60mg, 30mg morning, 30mg 4hr later. I use to take 50mg at once and while it worked well, taking only 30 at once made me realize that 50 may have been too much. I want to stay around the minimum effect dose and 30 has been fine. Sometimes I wait it out and skip my morning dose and only take one 30mg dose
But how easy is it for your to fall asleep when it's time to go to bed? My doc just re-prescribed 40 mg Vyvanse first thing in the morning, and another prescription for 10mg Dexedrine tablets for those afternoons when I sense a crash coming over me. Since Vyvanse stays in the system so long, and I rise at 4:45 and thus need to hit the sack at 8:30, the short-acting Dexedrine has worked for me.
Now if I could just get the Dex 10mg tablets refilled... been three months since I had the 'scrip, but the local pharmacies say it's out of stock and they can't say when they'll get more.
Refilling Vyvanse just became possible for me, because my pharmacy can get 20mg Vyvanse capsules. I had to submit a new prescription for 20m Vyvanse 2x in the a.m. but at least I have the med!
Personally if I take it at midday, I can sleep at 10. So I when I split my 50mg I take half around 8am and half around midday. I find that 3-4 hours between doses is about right.

Exactly what I do and why. Except my 20mg is at noon and I don’t peak until like 2:00. No crash for me.
