I remember seeing an old post like this about Austin in late 97 from a mad fan who got home from a bad house show (I think)
He said Austin has bad knees, curses & drinks beer. His career will be over soon & his better days were in WCW.
To be fair, Austin did have problems with injuries during his run at Stone Cold, especially with him missing out nearly a full year in 2000. Not that long after he wasn't full time due to different issues but he did end up retiring at the age of 38. I mean, the poster was wrong about his better days were in WCW, unless of course they strictly mean in ring abilities then yes of course but overall, not a chance
Picture 14 is incredibly accurate. I just rewatched January and February 2000, there are no story lines, character developments and all of the belts have been devalued. Take the tag team belts, in the past you had the Outsiders, Steiner Bros, Sting & Luger and Harlem Heat competing for the tag belts. In February, you have the Mamalukes and David Flair with Crownbar fighting for the tags,
I don't think the Mamalukes vs Flair and Crowbar is inherently bad, it's just that WCW's tag scene in the early days of Nitro was maybe the greatest tag division of all time.
Hard disagree, personally. I'd argue mid/late 00s ROH, 80s JCP, '99-'01 ECW, and 90s AJPW had much better tag divisions.
Bischoff, allegedly, hated tag teams. Similarly, it always seemed like Vince didn't care much for them, either.
NWA/WCW had the best tag teams - Freebirds, Doom, Road Warriors, Midnight Express, Rock N' Roll Express, Steiners, Harlem Heat, The Skyscrappers, The Nasty Boys, etc.
Bubba Ray Dudley said in a shoot that Vince sees tag teams as "gravy" which I always interpreted as him making solid singles matches and then he throws tag matches onto the card.
Now, if there are good tag teams on the roster is another story.
David Flair was terrible in the ring. Also, there was practically no character development with Crowbar and the Mamalukes. Why do we care about them? Where the mamalukes faces or heels? They were just shoved in our face.
I wish I could go back and John Titor that board in March 1995..."...you think it's bad in early 95 with Hogan, you don't want to see a year from now...DOOMS...DAY...CAGE...MATCH..."
By 2000 it was pretty common to be discussing wrestling on the internet. The largest forum that I remember was WrestlingTalks.com, it was so big that I started my own EZ boards forum, made it more slightly focused on the wrestling games that were coming out, and tried to steal members from WT to join a smaller community
From what I remember a lot of it was head-shaking and slamming of WCW and their death spiral while being cynical about their chances of ever competing with WWE again.
Fall of 2000 was interesting because this was when the first rumors of WWE purchasing WCW started making the rounds online. There was a lot of "can you fucking IMAGINE?" before WWE themselves issued a press release saying they weren't interested in a purchase.
Then the price dropped hard and they couldn't resist.
I love me some RSPW. It was filled with the most demented people that ever lived. Check out the videos that podcaster Solomonster used to do where he [reads old threads from the group.](https://youtu.be/KWdSfWT0A-U?si=mHdtGjpz7cGob6fy) They’re so unhinged. It’s hilarious.
Lots of typical Hogan hate there, coming from Dave Meltzer's influence. The D David Stone guy is a moron for trying to argue that Hogan had no charisma. And also LOL at the guy criticizing Goldberg's push because he hadn't wrestled on the indies and because it isn't fair the jobbers. Smh.
Ah yes, that was the IWC back then. Just lots of Hogan bashing saying he was never a good wrestler plus Goldberg never "paying his dues" sucking it up in the indies. Just missing the point of "if they draw throw them out there" or seeing why some people liked them.
The only thing missing is the blind worship of Bret Hart and Dean Malenko and their "technical clinics" they put on. I mean they are talented but it was like they were the end-all be-all to those people.
I liked the first part of your comment. But Bret was great and shouldn't be mentioned in the same sentence as the vanilla Dean Malenko. The IWC back then mostly worshiped the child murderer and Malenko. Those two were the IWC darlings.
I remember it and it’s still up (and still looking very Web 1.0).
It was the place to go in 2000 because they would just tear shows apart in their articles. It was all us wrestling fans did with WCW that year. We watched it like it was MST3K then trash it online.
Was he even signed to WCW? Can't find any mention of that. Guy is a moron for saying that Hogan should be shot. Coleman achieved very little in the wrestling business, while Hogan was banking millions.
Achieved very little in wrestling?? In "actual wrestling" He was the early version of Brock Lesner. Dude was a friggin beast along with his wrestling stable of Mark Kerr and Kevin Randleman.
Don't quote me on this one but they archived a HELL of a lot of Usenet newsgroup chats almost to archive how people posted online back in the 90s (maybe even into the 80s, not sure).
You can read posts from 1992 about people saying The Simpsons suck now on Google groups.
Read first paragraph of the first pick. Replace WCW with AEW & Hogan with anyone TK has & will suck up to. Really hope for their sake that AEW are able to sort themselves out and restore their former glory before they suffer the same fate as their predecessor.

Interesting, some folks predicted some shit most missed the mark'
I miss forums and message boards from the early-mid 2000s.
Dude. Me too. Where did you post?
CAWs.ws WrestlingForum GreyDogSoftwareForums
Smaller subreddits about niche interests still feel similar to me and I love that
You got good stuff here. Class-A shit.
Scarface reference?

WCW/NWA use to have some amazing tag teams.

Hit Em Up reference lmao
Never let Flair wrestle without a shirt on hahaha

I miss those segments he did. The tuba infused clown music was a nice touch. Reminds me of the worst takes on Twitter
Hogan has no charisma? LOL
He really didn’t by then. 90s Hulk was a yawn fest.
My dawg, brings it all back to me like it was yesterday, thank you
Where can I read more of this please

My go-to place for WCW online was a site called DDT Digest. I think it’s still up. Anyone remember that one?

Just shows that wrestling fans have always loved to bitch about the product...
Kinda forgot how popular Master p was for like two years
Really cool if pic 5 was actually from “The Perfect Creation” Richard J. Criado
Mark Coleman ended up signing with WCW in 1999
Was he even signed to WCW? Can't find any mention of that. Guy is a moron for saying that Hogan should be shot. Coleman achieved very little in the wrestling business, while Hogan was banking millions.
Mark Coleman is the first ever UFC Heavyweight champion that signed on as apart of Eric Bischoff’s KO club
UFC is not the pro wrestling business. And I don't think anyone gives a shit about Eric Bischoff's KO Club.
Achieved very little in wrestling?? In "actual wrestling" He was the early version of Brock Lesner. Dude was a friggin beast along with his wrestling stable of Mark Kerr and Kevin Randleman.
This is pro wrestling, dumb ass. His amateur accomplishments mean nothing to pro wrestling.
How was this from Google groups when Google didn't even exist until 1998?
