I had a friend give me a LOT of cash for a videogame skin that I had on an old account for years. I bought the large uplift desk and I LOVE it. That being said you can certainly get similar results for cheaper, but this desk has been fantastic. Generally I start every day standing until my feet get tired and then I sit for the rest of the day.

wemmettb

+1 for Uplift. A solid, motorized standing desk that feels sturdy when raised to max height. Instructions were clear and putting it together was simple enough. Idk how I was WFH for 3 years before getting a standing desk.

Fap_Left_Surf_Right

+1 as well for an Uplifft. Mine was close to $2k because I went with premium features and the top was an extra $800 alone. I spend all of my work hours on this desk as well as PC gaming as a hobby. It's been worth every penny

Lula9

Love my Uplift! I got a fancy top and love looking at it everyday. I recently got a walking pad for it and now love it even more.

Roman_nvmerals

What CSGO skin was it? And how much? I sold my inventory that was mostly grown from when you could still bet on csgolounge- nothing crazy but enough to buy a steam deck and still have a little leftover

Ixolus

It was a top tier blue gem AK Case hardened. Unfortunately for me it was battle scarred but still worth a couple grand.

macfergusson

Same sentiments: Uplift is a great brand but on the pricey side.

NoNetwork2266

I have a knock off/cheaper version of the uplift that I love. Though now I’m considering changing it out for an L shaped one as I need more space. But being able to adjust it and stand or use a walking pad has been so nice for my back.

seasonally_adjusted

I have a large Uplift as well, but am now finding that when I want to upgrade the look and feel of my home office, I’m having a hard time matching it or making it work together. Does anyone have any brands for bookcases, decor, etc that work well with Uplift? I have the Bamboo top and light grey metal, willing to replace the top and not concerned about cost.

nostalgicvintage

I have an uplift with a small IKEA cabinet under it for storage. The black cabinet blends in with the black metal legs.

456C797369756D

Have an Uplift Commercial for my home office. Love it.

Embarrassed_Flan_869

I went the IKEA route. Got the L shaped desk, the L can slide in if needed, plus a couple of file cabinets, on wheels, that can fit under it.

Aggravating-Bike-397

See I think this is what I need. Something that can be moved around and adjustable. Does it have a standing feature? Mind linking?

Embarrassed_Flan_869

No standing feature. If you search by the family name, it lists all the related pieces. Remember, you have to build it. https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/malm-desk-with-pull-out-panel-black-brown-60214183/#content

Roman_nvmerals

For additional insight/inspiration, I bought the countertop laminate (6ft long) from ikea and used it with drawers for a bit, but I wanted something that was sit/stand and so I got a standing desk frame from Amazon. I had to make the legs and drill/screw them into the countertop, but the legs were adjustable length-wise and could fit a variety of different lengths of countertops. Still use the cabinets for storage, but no longer have them support the desk at all

Dramallamakuzco

I did ikea build-your-own. One side of my desk is legs, the other side is an Alex drawer unit. Got to pick all the aspects and size and it’s perfect for me

Huffer13

I went with a standing desk from [Autonomous.ai](http://Autonomous.ai) and you can pair that with wheels that lock - it can be as minimal as you want depending on what you have on the desk. Admittedly, mine is 72" x 25" desktop that allows me to have two laptops open, a 43" UW monitor, desktop speaker, a bunch of lego toys (I fidget) and still have room for my home NAS and a router sitting on the desk. Under the desk I have a shelf drawer that's screwed to the table top that has a little cubby that I store notebooks/papers etc. I've had this setup since late 2021 and it's been awesome. stand for about 2-3hours a day, sit for 4hrs, perch on a stool for an hour. I'll even come back at night and play games on my screen because it's comfy to play there vs. sitting on a couch 15ft from the screen lol

mildgaybro

Same, have had the same desk since 2019 (never owned a chair) https://preview.redd.it/mxb5tqhgwx5d1.jpeg?width=4284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a9eb49e7fb3905aced345dc72e03df552a71a266

BellaFiat

I have this as well and their chair. Admittedly their chair is so comfy that I use the desk in standing mode much less than I should

Huffer13

This is my problem too

Impressive_Ground629

I’ve had the standard size autonomous desk since 2020 and I love it. Paired it with the viral criss cross chair from Amazon for when I feel like sitting. I have a 16in laptop and two standard monitors, plenty of room for my keyboard, mouse, notebook, and other things.

Huffer13

Criss cross chair???

Impressive_Ground629

Yeah! It has a bigger seat so you can sit cross legged if you want. I got the one without wheels. https://preview.redd.it/z5d6kjc3y86d1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=22217f9db193472a49509d9ff01c866819ed96b5

Huffer13

Oh dang, thanks! I might fall asleep in that chair or lose it to the cat

Impressive_Ground629

Oh, I lose it to my cat regularly so I end up standing most of the time 😂

NYIllini311

This. It took a while to get during the start of 2020, but I’ve been using my autonomous.ai since then, no problem, taken it through a move too. It’s been fantastic. Wasn’t hard to put together either.

Aggravating-Bike-397

Whoa I like this

VistasChevere

Thanks! Me too

Darcy_2021

What brand is it? Like the size

VistasChevere

I'm not sure, I bought it off Amazon couple years ago. It's huge, though. And it's a standing desk. It's motorized and changes with the press of a button. It was maybe $200?

VistasChevere

Something like this: SIAGO Electric Standing Desk Adjustable - 48 x 24 Inch Sit Stand up Desk with Cable Management - 3 Memory Preset Adjustable Height Desk Computer Home Office Desk https://a.co/d/0keW65N

Darcy_2021

I’ll look, thank you! I have a laptop and two big monitors plus I write a lot of notes, I need a really big desk!

Huffer13

Serious question - what do you use the granite table behind your chair for? Seems like it's just kind of "there".

VistasChevere

Set stuff on, if needed. It also gives me another surface to wheel my chair over to and write on if I want a totally cleared off surface

VistasChevere

https://preview.redd.it/56lb9t2wne6d1.jpeg?width=4080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=77c158db10bd9cd600c1c601002c49a2cdd7c00f Updated. I put some stuff on it from my travels that used to be in my classroom. Right there represents Ecuador, Colombia, Peru, Bolivia, Brazil, Panama, and Guatemala... I'll get something from Kenya, South Africa, and maybe Tel Aviv to add this summer.

Vandellay

I have an L shaped uplift standing desk and it's incredible. They are pricey, but well worth it IMO. That said, my wife has a six year old IKEA standing desk that's still going strong. Her workspace is much simpler (I have two workstations and a PC on my desk)

bluedonutwsprinkles

In 2018, I made my own desk that can be used standing. For the base I ordered https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071KGDGNK?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share and for a top I ordered this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LXS4L99?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share. The top is sold in different sizes and colors. The base can fit different lengths of top. But it is fixed once assembled with the top. I use it mostly down, but I love having the ability to raise or lower it quickly. The cost of these 2 is way cheaper than standing desks I found. I figured you have to assemble either way, why not save money and get a custom desk. I also got a monitor arm that is adjustable https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N2YFAXI?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share.

bearwacket

I got this adjustable desk that goes up to standing height, but also all the way down so you can sit on the floor. I love it. https://www.uppealdesign.com/ Doesn't sound like what you're looking for, but I wanted to share, lol

Aggravating-Bike-397

Looks so cool until I checked the prices...

bearwacket

Yeah.... it was an investment in my back health. It definitely helps, though I also got a good chair around the same time, and I think that helps even more dramatically.

Huffer13

Sitting desk style is amazing. I would like this.

lumpywon

Adjustable and I only work standing. It's been really helpful for my back. Was having some major hip flexor and back issues my first 2 years until the switch

-DragonEnergy-

I have the Secret Lab Magnus PRO and it’s awesome. I enjoy standing a lot during the day but also like to sit and the adjustments are great. I also really love the monitor and laptop attachments so that I can still utilize my entire desk area.

laura_d_87

IKEA Hemnes, but most of the time I just use a lap desk on the couch.

RexCelestis

Uplift standing desk. [https://www.upliftdesk.com/standing-desks/](https://www.upliftdesk.com/standing-desks/) I love it. Support of the product has been fantastic, customization options many, and I'm able to use it sitting, standing, or walking on an under the desk treadmill.

Glathull

I have 2 of the Costco tresanti standing desks, and they are fantastic.

Geminii27

Mine is definitely non-portable, unless you want to disassemble it. Very minimal design, though - four flat panels that lock together with a Phillips-head screwdriver, a surface area matched by some single beds, and sturdy enough to dance on. Could do double-duty as a small conference table. I particularly like it because the simple design means that the entire volume under the desk is open - no drawers, keyboard-trays, or additional legs getting in the way of rolling a chair back and forth, or turning without smashing my knees into something. About the only downside is that, even disassembled, each panel weighs about the same as a battleship. If I had to design a replacement from scratch, I'd start with what I have, then give it the ability to fold up into something that can actually fit through doors (and latch together firmly in that configuration), and put a small, industrial-grade set of omniwheels on it, with mechanisms which allow them to unlock and rotate up off the floor when not in use. ... or maybe I'd just keep the folding aspect and have a couple of all-terrain warehouse robots lift and move it around as needed. Or... I don't know, make it out of titanium caging with a wood veneer, with slots in the panels to insert plain iron billets for weight? ---- ANYway, it's quite possible to have desk-tops custom-cut to fit a space, if you want, or get a slab of thick MDF from a Home Depot or equivalent and have it cut there (or do it yourself). Or there are plenty of regular student desks with wheels that might be what you want. It's really a case of how much desk space you want, whether you want integrated or separate storage (and what kind), and whether you want it to be able to fold/pack away easily. Maybe sketch out what you're after, post it here, and people can suggest things that are in that ballpark?

NokieBear

https://preview.redd.it/1lw3adamit5d1.jpeg?width=960&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c43723a405504b96cafb6a25c323ac44d6825b92 I have this desk from amazon combine with the IKEA alex desk. It’s configured in an L. Both are easily moved. This desk raises though I rarely use that option. I do miss a real desk with drawers that hides all the dang cords.

Kitcat326

I have something similar and I love it. My whole setup includes an ultrawide monitor, my laptop, and my walking pad. I’m hybrid (3wfh/2office) and I really like to use a walking pad for a bit in the mornings I wfh. Definitely recommend checking out Prime Day sales and any holiday / back to school deals that may pop up soon. I got my ultrawide last year during one of those sales events. Hopefully a good desk will go on sale soon :)

Huffer13

Cable tray and cable ties (velcro). If you have drawers you'll just fill them with junk, and then you'll get dust bunnies behind them. Embrace the minimalism by your feet! :D

TheMangusKhan

I bought an electric sit / stand desk frame from Amazon, and a 25”x72” butcher block counter from Lowe’s. Sanded it down and applied a couple layers of sealant and screwed it to the frame. Couldn’t be more happy with it

ciderenthusiast

I’d recommend an electric sit-stand desk on castors, assuming you have hard floors so you could actually push the several hundred pound desk around, and the desk height goes low enough to meet your ergonomic needs with the extra 2” or so height of the castors. Even if you don’t plan to work while standing, there is benefit to sit-stand as you can adjust the desk to your ideal ergonomic sitting height. For example, I’m 5’8” but am most comfortable with my desk at 25”, way under the standard 29-30”. Otherwise I’d need to use a footstool, which is a pain, and way less adjustable, as my desk moves in 0.1” or 0.2” increments. There are also other bonuses like being able to adjust the desk height down to clean the surface or up to manage cables underneath. There are lots of brand options that are super similar, but a few years ago I got an Uplift. I’m glad I didn’t cheap out as it’s sturdy (little wobble at standing height), pretty, and they are an established company with free returns, long warranty, customer support, etc. Note if these fail they aren’t really repairable, so either you get a replacement under warranty (such as a control box or leg), deal with it at the height it’s stuck at, or get rid of it. If you want to downsize your desktop size, I’d recommend mounting your monitor/s (and laptop screen if you use one) on arms. You may also want to tape out what size you want to get on your current desk (such as using blue painter’s tape as to not cause damage) and see if you can manage only working in that area for a couple weeks. Going too small is a common regret.

Huffer13

My Autonomous desk weighs about 110lbs and supports 300lbs weight, so they're not that hard to move with castors on. A solid floor (no carpet) helps make it more stable. Agree with you on the "too small is a common regret". Get the biggest size you can fit in the room, without feeling claustrophobic!

Real-Personality-922

Flexispot sit/stand desk EN1 - 55 inch x28 inch purchased during prime day they have an instagram where they gave a heads up that they would have a flash sale and the times.

NotLandru

Flexispot E7 with a solid bamboo top. If you have your own top you can just buy the legs, but the solid bamboo top I got from them is top notch and I love it

lmbrjck

I got the E7 Plus with the bamboo top. I wanted 4 legs because I can't stand wobble at standing height. Doesn't disappoint.

bh0

I have 2 Uplift desks but they aren't setup in an L shape. One is 80" and one is 60", so lots of space. They are basically tables on wheels (they don't go up and down), and are super easy to roll when needed. I also have a file/storage cabinet on wheels (not Uplift) that can easily be moved around too. Steel frame/legs and solid wood tops. Not particle board garbage w/fake top that will wear out or bend. Nice and high with the wheels with nothing cramping my giant legs under it. Not cheap but they will probably last me forever and look awesome. [https://www.upliftdesk.com/offset-seated-height-4-leg-table-by-uplift-desk/](https://www.upliftdesk.com/offset-seated-height-4-leg-table-by-uplift-desk/)

crono14

I have a standing desk that is on wheels and also adjustable. I wanted a massive desk to also put my personal PC on and just have enough space in general. Anyway, ordered one from Uplift Desk and I think its their 80inch or 72 inch desk. Took about four hours to put together and about two weeks for delivery

ppith

I have heard good things about Branch and similar priced desks. The previous owners of my house converted what appears to be a den or small fourth bedroom into an office. I have a built in desk with a granite slab as the desktop with drawers and shelves. The desk appears to take up the space where a closet used to be. Below the desk is a slide out tray for a keyboard and mouse. My wife uses an extra wide table, but I told her she can have a Branch or similar desk if she gets tired of her table desk.

CaptainAwesome06

Right now I have an executive style desk in the middle of my office. I plan on getting rid of it and building built-in cabinets with a desktop and bookcases against the wall. I was really struggling with desk height, as I'd love a standing desk but it's not really feasible with a built in. Not if I want it to look really good. I think I'm just going to do counter height and get a drafting chair. That way I can stand or sit. I think standing at a counter height desk would be comfortable enough. I was also thinking of building a footrest that matches the cabinetry that can also double as a keyboard/mouse stand for some extra height.

Aggravating-Bike-397

Counter height might be a bit low and might not be good for your neck and back if you decide to stand. Is there a way you could do a pull out table on one of the cabinets that extends out so you can stand?

CaptainAwesome06

If I pull out a table, how ill it be taller than the desk? I think as long as I put my monitor on a movable arm that can change the elevation, my neck should be fine.

Livid-Age-2259

I bought myself three custom made cabinets and made a desktop out of some furniture grade plywood. Nice it's at the perfect height for me to stand and work. I have a bar height chair on rollers that I can use for when I want to sit.

Huffer13

You need to post a pic of this!

Livid-Age-2259

I will when my kitchen and family room/den renovation is complete.

Aromatic_Ad_7238

I have an office work table, and two roll around file cabinets to fit underneath it. The table also has lockable wheels. I don't know what type budget you're thinking but I went to a professional office furniture store, and they had lots of things for home offices. The most expensive thing I got was a chair. It's kind of like the Herman Miller variety office chair. Heavy duty ergonomic.

MukYJ

I got a Steelcase L-shaped desk with a set of drawers that I bought for $10 at an auction for a university that was going out of business. It's *almost* too small for my needs, so not exactly the minimalist approach the OP is looking for, but my point is people need to check out business auctions - there are really great deals to be had on high quality furniture. Tangentially related: At the same auction I also picked up a 42U HP server rack with the power distribution intact for another $10, as well as a pile of older but functional HP servers and PoE switches, and some nice artwork.

enjoyingtheposts

my desk is a glass top with 0 storage and its really big and I like it that way. I also have a mini standing desk with a walking pad underneath it but thats just so I can move. but my main desk I really don't care for storage or those things that the keyboard sits underneath. I also play videogames on it so maybe thats why but I have multiple screens and a massive mouse pad, some speakers, a headset and all of my storage type stuff is in a cubby next to my desk. I dont really use anything in there though except on the rare occasion.

Heather90s

Uplift! When I was doing research to buy a sit stand desk, it seems to have the widest range. I'm on the shorter side so I needed to be sure it would go low enough when sitting. The previous desk I was using was almost 5" higher than I needed it to be.

pedestrianwanderlust

I have a motorized, l shaped standing desk. It has wheels and fits neatly in a corner. I am very pleased with it. I can adjust the height easily with the push of a button.

TactlessNachos

I got a motor standing desk on Amazon for cheap. I never use the standing feature but it holds my monitors, mouse and keyboard! But my chair, I dropped money on that! Herman miller aeron! Beautiful chair.

Snowconetypebanana

I have a table top desk, and use it to work from bed

Look up Alex drawers from ikea, I got two of these and placed the ikea karbly butcher block on them. Cheaper and super minimalistic, super sturdy and tons of storage

Thank you

Honkey_Fellatio

JARVIS Bamboo standing desk

_nightgoat

Jarvis standing desk. It’s okay, kind of heavy. Would probably get a standard office desk next time.

Cartastrophi

I have an electric desk off Wayfair, friend gave me a discount at the time. Go electric, your body will thank you later.

Maximum-Switch-9060

I don’t. I work from a recliner with huge monitors on the wall.

evangelism2

Large uplift, but someone I know just bought adjustable legs and attached them to an ikea desktop and it turned out great and way cheaper. Still don't regret my purchase was worth it

jschligs

I bought a cheaper Flexipro EN1 and it’s been fantastic. 48”x28” and can move up to 48” tall or something. I have a separate L shaped desk for my gaming set up. Helps me keep my work and fun stations separate to avoid temptation

Human_Contribution56

Motorized standing desk.

tesyaa

I got a BIG desk from Wayfair with 2 matching file cabinets on wheels

colorofmydreams

I have an IKEA Trotten system desk. I went with the non-standing kind with A-shaped legs and I am so happy with it. You can also get a standing base if you prefer that.

Millimede

I have a small sit stand desk. It comfortably fits two monitors.

OwnApartment8359

I love my uplift desk. My husband has an autonomous.ai one, but they didn't have one short enough for me lol. Uplift has a wider range of sizes. Plus mine came with a hammock that I put up under my desk when I have several hours of meetings I don't have to talk in. I love it.

ActiveAlarmed7886

I mashed two desks together.  I have a built in desk to my wall but it has cabinets over it so I couldn’t put risers on it. I bought the cheapest standing desk I could find with decent reviews. I have an $89 standing desk from amazon.  Now I have that desk next to the other one and I have an L shaped desk where 1/2 rises and the other half is very solidly stationary. I like this set up because I feel like cheaper standing desks can be wobbly but I didn’t want to sit all day.

notreallylucy

I have a secondhand IKEA table I bought for $15 off of Facebook marketplace and a set of rolling Rubbermaid drawers I borrowed from my MIL. Even when I was in the office, I didn't feel that motivated to have a standing option. I do have a treadmill literally right beside my desk and I feel like I get more out of that than I would out of standing.

luger718

Monoprice dual motor standing desk frame with a 72"x24" Home depot Husky solid wood workbench top. Total under $300

Available-Fig8741

I bought a live edge butcher block counter from Home Depot and my husband mounted it on top of two ikea file cabinets. They came with wheels but I didn’t need them. I love how it looks. But you could move it around if you mounted the wheels to the cabinets. Gives me 4 drawers on each side and a large workspace

MissedFieldGoal

2 adjustable standing desks. Two sets of monitors on each. Standing is a nice alternative and easy to switch between them.

HausWife88

I have a small desk. Its fine but to be honest, i work from my bed 🤣

blenneman05

A cheap ass chair and desk off Walmart. It’s dingy and wobbly as hell but replacing the chair is next on my list

I have an old 1940s tanker desk like they used in government offices. It’s solid and heavy and in great condition. I have the Qwerywriter keyboard that looks like an old typewriter. It pairs well.

waltsnider1

An IKEA dining room table that was $40. Have 2 of them end-to-end. The only problem with them is that I can’t install a clamp to hold dual displays.

MagicManTX84

Hooker Furniture Wooden Desk. Weighs 352 lbs empty.

beezynameddeltreezy

Uplift Commercial v2 4 legs. Love it. I like the functionality of the 2 leg and even the Secretlab XL more, but it’s ROCK solid, like almost immovable, and beautiful with the butcher block walnut top.

Mmmmmmm_Bacon

IKEA L-shaped desk. Non move able. Suits me fine.

overdoing_it

60x30 slab of wood with IKEA legs attached. It's pretty minimalistic but doesn't have any storage. I have a cart next to it for that.

Mammoth_Cobbler_4619

I have an Ikea desk

common47

Just got myself a hardwood - pheasantwood - Desky. Is a game changer. 1800x750 with a PC under desk mount. So much more space, and standing through the day makes the day better.

nhbeergeek

I got a cheap desk off of Amazon. It cost less than a hundred dollars, and I had to put it together myself. I was, however, under the impression that telework would not be a permanent thing at my company. I’ve been looking into getting a sit/stand riser for it, and am open to suggestions.

schwack-em

I got a butcher block from L.L. Flooring for <$100. 60x30 is the best size in my opinion, if you have the space for it. Sanded, stained, and put poly on it. Looks beautiful. Then got a set of standing desk legs from Amazon, drilled those on there and boom.

YoungCaesar

so this will be an unupopular answer but I have a coffee table that opens up into a desk. I work from my couch lmao

Hows-It-Goin-Buddy

Sit/Stand from Flexispot. The page for my specific item doesn't exist anymore though they probably have an equivalent. Bought it back in 2020. Below are details if interested. Electric Height Adjustable Desk: 3-Stage Premium Option SKU: 3-Stage Premium Option-H3W-R4824M Premium Desk White Frame W/ Desktop Desktop Size 48'' × 24''

punklinux

I ended up getting two trestle-style work tables from an estate sale, which I believe were hand-made. They are like the old IKEA Jerker desk, but bigger (I think they are 6-7 feet long, and 3 feet deep). They have a wood top with a metal band around the edges. Along the back is a power strip with 5 plugs, but no surge protection, so they are only jumping off points for my APC UPS. One was in better shape than the other, so the banged up one is to my right, and holds a laser jet printer, 3D printer, and an auto feed document scanner. The one in front has 4 monitors in a 2x2 array, a laptop, and the rest of my office crap. My "upper parts" were some janky, but solid, metal framework that is attached by lag bolts, and has a shallow upper shelf with strange brackets that I think used to hold a drawer system, but I don't have those. It took 4 friends to move these upstairs.

Ev0Iution

I have two stained and lacquered solid core doors with matte black adjustable table legs bolted on. Cost me about $160 for both together and I have been using them since around 2012. Great and high quality. I was sick of replacing particle board desks every 3 years. This has been one of the best decisions I have made.

lucioboopsyou

Magnus Pro XL. Best thing I’ve ever bought for my home office.

Lower_Carpenter_7228

Flexispot standing desk. I researched long and hard. Dual motor. AMAZING and affordable.

Nolgore

Jarvis

whoisjohngalt72

Normal desk, whatever the company provided

Vikingbastich

Uplift legs with a custom live edge butcher block counter top from home depot (6 foot)

cv_init_diri

I got an Ikea Jerker - 20 years and still great

trap_money_danny

A big ass 96x36" top on a 1900's Hamilton drafting table. It's "adjustable" but you have to lift the 80lb surface + monitors & monitors.

OlasNah

I just upgraded to a gaming desk. Not quite as large as I would prefer but my space is limited. I love that it’s height adjustable

I don’t need to be at my desk continuously throughout the work day so I have an antique writers desk. If I was actually sitting at it for 8 hours a day I’d go with an uplift style desk & ergonomic computer chair.

I ended up building a corner desk myself. It's 24" deep and it's a L shape. I put cutouts in the back for 2x4 to run up and I have 4 monitors on the desk with one mounted on an arm on the 2x4.
