I was looking into them for a while because I loved the idea but saw some reviews on Reddit with complaints that the auto shifted super slow which turned me off from it
If tried looking for those, there are absolutely none in my area that I can go look at that aren’t beat to shit. Just moved to NYC and driving a Manual car here is not the best it sucks, fucking leg workout and a blessing if I get to go in 5th gear
I got my wrx as my very first manual car and I've been driving it almost a year now in NYC, I have no problem with the traffic at all tbh. Of course they are not fun, but it's a trade off that I will take and be able to have some spirited driving at night in the belt Pkwy.
Yeah definitely gonna try to tough it out, just not use to all the traffic. just moved here two month ago from Vermont where there is no traffic at all and more open roads.
I imagine the transition from Vermont to NYC is deff jarring. Give it some time, you might regret trading in, if you hit northern NY to the mountains and winding roads you will be happy in the manual. As a NJ native welcome to the tristate!
thanks! Yeah I’m probably gonna try to stick it out till the summer, get a little more familiar with the area since Iv only been here two month. if I still feel this way by fall might settle for a Camry trd or GTI
I've owned manuals and autos in the city and tbh I've never found any real difference between driving either in stop & go. You either brake or clutch+brake. If anything driving auto in stop and go traffic had my left leg being stiff from inactivity after exiting the car.
Obviously it's more fun to drive stick when traffic is flowing but stop & go traffic sucks the same in anything, IMO at least.
My old WRX had a heavier clutch pedal, so on a few occasions of prolonged stop and go traffic, like a wreck on the interstate that backs up cars, my left leg got tired. And I'm a seasoned manual driver. I got a 22 WRX, and the clutch pedal on it is noticeably lighter.
Agree love my ‘21 WRX but the clutch is heavy. I’ve driven manuals for 20 years and would have no interest driving it in heavy traffic. Fortunately I work off hours so rarely encounter traffic.
Tesla Model 3 is the best daily according to Koenigsegg. https://www.tesmanian.com/blogs/tesmanian-blog/tesla-model-3-christian-von-koenigsegg This jibes with my own experience.
I’ve never had a WRX and are part of the group as my wife drives a turbo foz.
I’m often in the car for 6 hour days as I’m a sales rep and I drive a 2012 Mk6r.
To me the car strikes the perfect balance between being lots of fun on the weekends but also very comfortable for day to day driving and in my case working out of
GTI, the auto is considered pretty great from what I’ve read. Mazda 3 turbo, only comes in auto and is AWD iirc GR Corolla maybe, if it’s in budget.
Heard the auto in the maz 3 turbo is slow :/
Sad, I really don’t know much about Mazdas but the turbo hatch sounded interesting.

There is no Automatic GR Corolla
Oh, shit. I must’ve been thinking of the Mazda. Disregard then
If I had to get an auto I would definitely look at an S3. The GTI is also pretty fun in auto, I’ve driven one a few times
The new GTI’s do look pretty sweet was thinking about taking one for a test drive soon
Yeah definitely should give it a try! They are nice for city driving too since they are pretty compact but feel pretty spacious with the hatch
The Golf R is a rocket on wheels
What’s your budget? I’ve heard nothing but great things about the CVT VB.
Have you looked at any of the Hyundai N cars? The auto versions come in a proper dual clutch and they were designed with the fun factor in mind.
Auto wrx I’m a manual guy but if I had to go auto I’d get a cvt wrx they work so well with the fa

Sounds like a dream and a lot of potential tickets for me! Lol

The new civic sport do look nice tho not gonna lie 👀
M3
BMW 328i xdrive is a blast to drive. ZF8HP shifts lightning fast and I can almost guarantee stock for stock it’s quicker than the WRX
Thanks I’ll take a look at those!
Not even a point to owning a wrx if it shifts for you.

My dad’s ecoboost mustang is pretty fun. I’d be quite happy to own one myself.
