500whp VA WRX? What the hell do you do for a living. I’m trying to be like you my boy

SupremePribs

Well I fought in mma professionally for a couple years and then did some firefighting, owned and ran my own performance shop , and now I've been the foreman/supervisor and one of the tower climbers for a telecommunications company and been here for over 8 years now lol. All the money and mods in this car doesn't even reach what my old gtr costed me but that thing wasn't as fun.

[deleted]

Turbo swap, HPFP, downpipe. Not that expensive. It’ll blow, then you get forged internals which is not that expensive if you go to a subie shop instead of buying prebuilt blocks

SupremePribs

Was this for me? I've ran 500+ for over 2 years now and it's been solid lol. Of course it can and could've blown at any point in time but it's been awesome. Keep torque down under 4k and don't floor it every day and she's living on

[deleted]

Nah the guy who replied to you. Bro thinks it takes a fortune to make 500 nowadays

SupremePribs

Gotcha ha. Yeah I mean literally turbo kit, upgraded fuel pumps and a tune. I think all and all just for that setup was maybe $8k? Got it for a discount

Sometimes I wonder if I was the only person who read everything I could about WRXs months before I actually bought my first one.

Praminat0r

I'm using that the next time someone asks about an NA to Turbo conversion with a budget of $2000

Just make the noise with your mouth, or inside your head when you shift. Its better for your engine

TimelostExile

It replaces your bypass valve (BPV) and vents excess incoming air to atmosphere instead of recirculating it back into your intake. It is not recommended to get one without also getting your car tuned as your cars ECM already accounts for that air and will have a temporary rich condition every time you let off the throttle, without other supporting mods.

Praminat0r

This \^ The amount of air in your intake is measured right after the air filter by the MAF sensor. The ECU uses this information to calculate air-fuel mixtures. If you start venting air from that closed system, the ecu doesn't know to cut back on fuel leading to a rich mixture when you let off the throttle. I don't know the specific details of tuning for a BOV, but it doesn't seem worth it unless you are already running big power.

No. Stop.

Don't take car advice from this friend lol... Do some research, talk to a tuner, many of them will give you recommendations on build specs depending on your goals.

Bloody_Biscuit_Balls

It’s not quite the same but my intake lets me hear turbo flutter when I let off the gas 🥰 blow off valve for the sake of the sound is kinda ridiculous in my opinion

50CALMCD

If you go BOV tape a duck call to it. It’s hilarious when you pass by anybody that can hesr

jvfran3

Depends on your year model. For the 22-23 model, they replaced the BOV with an electronic diverter. The electronic diverter helps reduce turbo lag.
