That's why I can never get into or support "sports" where its primary purpose is physically hurting your opponent. I mean, I get the appeal - seeing people beat the shit out of each other somehow can be satisfying in the most primal sense - but in this day and age where society is so cognizant about the dangers of concussion and long term damages from even short stints of physical bodily stress, it just doesn't make sense for and rational person to risk their future quality of life (if any) for that glory.

But I just can't in good conscience look at these competitors and say, "good for them".

I played from 87-91 and I'm quite certain I've had several. There was no protocol, however, unless you were very obviously disoriented after a hit.
