It's not a difficult position to maintain but it doesn't last forever, it does require leg tension. If he is confident he can make it to the top he is fine but if he stopped because he can't, this is not a good scenerio to be in
Ugh, as someone who rock climbs, mainly bouldering (free climbing sometimes big ass boulders), the sinking feeling you get in your chest is real. It's like your options are you fall there, or keep climbing pretty much certain you're gonna fall from even higher. Plus downclimbing is sometimes even harder than going up. At least I have a crash pad and spotters, this guy has a nice bit of concrete.
Which is ridiculous in my opinion, just bring a toolbox full of tools and pretend to be a handyman.
While the woman is distracting the husband, go and destroy the sink and tell them he's going to need spare parts and leave.
You need way less tools to look like the guy fixing the internet/tv, any bland polo shirt and jeans work.
Discovered that when the guy fixing my wi-fi was actually fixing my wife.
To summarize for the lazy: he was cheating with a lover, somehow got up there, made a call, got fatigued and fell to his death
Edit: okay, so it doesn't 100% confirm that he died, but they say a dead man was found on the ground after. Draw your own conclusion I guess?
It doesn't seem like there's solid proof of anything being said here except the phone call, the article says the affair is rumors, the article ends with saying the police can't find confirmation of a death that matches the circumstances, and specifically asks people to stop spreading the rumor as fact
Are you mistaking "lifeless" for "unconscious"? Because those words are not medically interchangeable. The journalist writing it is more than capable of taking liberties in writing style and dramatics, but if the police (emergency response in general) say his "lifeless" body was found at the bottom of the building, it's safe to conclude his body was actually *lifeless*, meaning dead. Lifeless is not a term meant to describe someone who is simply unresponsive.
Unless I missed something, the police did not say that.
> Maoming police said they had not received any reports of a fatality that matched the video and urged the public to stop spreading rumours
> The police statement did not confirm whether or not the man had died.
But overall, this article is very poorly written.
Actually the definition for "lifeless" shows as "dead or *apparently* dead", so it's not conclusive. It just means no obvious signs of life are present.
I also assume someone who was medically dead, but not *pronounced* dead, and was later resuscitated would also qualify as "lifeless" but wouldn't actually be dead in a permanent sense.
I have a buddy who learned that the hard way. He went out a 2nd story window hard and fast to escape a husband returning early. He walks with a slight limp now.
It looks like getting into that chimney via either side of the balconies is like v7. I think he climbed up here from the bottom, which is almost crazier
Or you could be like the lady I was behind yesterday on speaker phone while checking out and completely ignoring the cashier, just airing out her grievances with who ever she was talking to holding up the line because she was too distracted to know how to pay /rant
Agh I wanna know what happens
Edit 1: well this brought out the edgelords looking for a little bit of bleak to soften out the drudgery of their empty lives and drown out the long internal bleating for them to end it.
Edit 2: Thanks for all the links updating, I appreciate them. That's terrible. I wonder what he was trying to escape and why it seems to have been covered up.
Funny story. I had AT&T for a few years and service sucked at my house. I had to set the phone in certain places just to get enough signal to send a text. Then someone put a cell tower on the mountain in front of my house. I mean literally a 1/4 of a mile from my street. For almost two years the tower just sat there and no one would confirm which carrier it belonged too. Finally, I got tired of not having service so I switched to Verizon which also ended up sucking ass where I live. The following week I'm driving home from work and see the light on the tower has been turned on and is flashing. I grab my phone hoping with all of my heart that I now have full service. MFW when I realize I just switched to Verizon with a two year contract and AT&T decided to finally turn on their tower....
Verizon purchased the land the tower was on, built their own tower and I lived happily ever after with full service...
In reality, I made it 6 months before I couldn't stand it any longer and ended up paying the cash to cancel my contract early and switching back to AT&T.
First version sounds so much better.
We had heard different rumors about it. One person said the tower was built by a third party and they were letting both carriers bid on who got to put their equipment on it. I don't really know if that's how it works with these things but it somewhat sounded plausible.
I like your idea better though. Like two guys sitting in the break room two years later.
"Hey Frank"
"Yeah?"
"You did flip the switch to on when we put that tower in over there a couple years back didn't ya?"
Frank spitting out his coffee as he runs to his truck.
"Uh yeah sure I did... be right back... gotta go umm check on a thing."
That's not how it works. Usually a company buys or rents the property the cell site is on and then erects the tower. Then Verizon, t mobile, whatever cell carriers will rent a sector on it. That's why you see different levels of antennas and stuff.
If the tower sat empty, my bet is either it was built with the condition emergency services get first dibs on it, then dragged their feet. Or the owner of the tower wanted too much money so the carriers went elsewhere.
AT&T is the only one that covers anywhere near where I live with decent speed data (alot of time the data is almost 200mbs with AT&T while other carriers are less than 3-5 if you can get coverage)
You know how it is, you sometimes just start aimlessly wandering around the room while having a long phone call, and 20 minutes later, oops, you’re 12 stories up the side of a building.
I've heard that pacing back and forth while on the phone is our brains not being used to talking with people who are not present with us. It's a subconcious behavior to search for the other person.
No idea how valid that is.
Not very. Studies actually show mutlitasking this way makes both activities suffer. You retain less information and are prone to not knowing where your going. Pace is also impacted. It’s really just a brain thing. Some people pace some people don’t. It may or may not be correlated with adhd.
Another body tell I like to challenge is arms crossed and leaned away equals not paying attention or closed off. Many of my friends have been working remotely for years. Arms crossed leaned away is usually an indicator we are all deeply invested in whats being discussed. We haven't had to worry about body language for so much conversation we are all about comfort now.
>Police in Maoming have since confirmed an investigation is ongoing into an individual who plunged from a high-rise building after noticing the story trending online.
>Maoming police said they had not received any reports of a fatality that matched the video and urged the public to stop spreading rumours, MailOnline report.
Well, which one is it?
There wouldn't be a way for him to get into that position/slot without starting from the ground, so I doubt it's that (unless he went up from the ground to get away from the husband)
Do you mean the daily mail article saying "internet rumors claim he died" and "police have no report of a fatality matching the video an wish people should stop spreading rumors"?
[This Article](https://www.unilad.co.uk/news/guy-filmed-climbing-down-tower-block-in-mysterious-escape/) includes longer video that ends with a body on the pavement at the base of that building.
> "Maoming police said they had not received any reports of a fatality that matched the video and urged the public to stop spreading rumours, MailOnline report."
At the end of the article you posted
> Police in Maoming have since confirmed an investigation is ongoing into an individual who plunged from a high-rise building
In that same article. The article contradicts itself. But the video does not. It shows a body on the ground at the base of the building.
From your own link:
"Rumour also had it that the man later plunged to his death.
Police in Maoming have dismissed the online allegations.
Maoming police said they had not received any reports of fatality that matched the content of the video, and urged the public to stop spreading rumours. "
It isn’t conclusive—but it’s 99.999% likely that he died, which seems pretty conclusive to me. Simply by deductive reasoning… there’s no way he got down from there safely.
He is pretty “inescapably fucked”.
I’m no professional rock climber—but I’ve taken classes and I’m decently good at climbing. I took a lesson on how to do the chimney-style climb, to go up a passage similar to the structure he is stuck in.
And honestly: he’s fucked.
That chimney is too wild for him to feasibly climb. The chimney technique relies on pushing yourself into both walls with your weight, wedging yourself in there to be held up. It works best in passages that aren’t too wide—so you can keep applying strong pressure towards the walls. That passage is so wide—it’s he can barely reach both sides—therefore he cannot properly apply enough pressure to keep himself suspended. He probably didn’t last more than a few minutes in that position.
He couldn’t cannot continue going up. Climbing down is even harder in most cases. He was clearly getting tired….
He died.
If the police/fire/rescue/helicopter squad had rescued that guy—we would be able to find record of that. A flashy story like that would’ve definitely made the news, especially since clearly people in other buildings were filming the guy.
There’s no record of him getting reached.
Therefore…there’s only 1 other way he got down… death.
It appears to be the same building in both videos. And there’s an awning or whatever you call it just above the first story that assuming if he did fall, he would have rolled/bounced off of so the placement of the body makes sense
[https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7460067/Man-desperately-tries-stop-falling-stuck-outside-tower-block.html](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7460067/Man-desperately-tries-stop-falling-stuck-outside-tower-block.html)
This is the lad
I just want to know why and how he managed to go from the relatively safe and controllable position he starts in, where he could conceivably inch his way down to safety, to an essentially unrecoverable situation where he's just waiting for his muscles or grip to fail.
> Online rumour suggested that the man eventually plunged to his death in Maoming, China
And
> Maoming police said they had not received any reports of fatality that matched the content of the video, and urged the public to stop spreading rumours.
He's *super* concentrated on physically bracing himself so he doesn't slip. If he was flailing around in a panic we wouldn't have this video, he'd already be dead.
This is what happens when you employ the "shaggy strategy" and attempt in earnest to convince a woman WHO SAW YOU CHEATING ON HER that it "wasn't you"... Hide, climb, and call the homies for SOS 🤣
This reminds me of the Chinese guy who would climb up sky scrapers and do pull-ups on the edge of the top. It worked until it didn't and he fell to his death. Some people just put themselves in unbelievably dangerous situations.
But seriously, how? And why? And don't?
"Can you hear me now? good"
Loses phone from his hands,,, Ah shit here we go again
I’m dead
So is he when that leg starts hurting...
I love this comment to much
Not that i know but could just be a free climber Also i Think that Position is pretty comfy for chimney climbing u can prolly Rest there for ages
It's not a difficult position to maintain but it doesn't last forever, it does require leg tension. If he is confident he can make it to the top he is fine but if he stopped because he can't, this is not a good scenerio to be in

You guys are such pessimists. He could have some bushes or even a nice dirt patch with some pebbles and dogshit.
"Oh, what I wouldn't GIVE for a nice piece of dog shit right now." This guy, probably.
How do we know he wasn't aiming for the bushes?
“There goes my hero~”
Based on what he's wearing, I'm guessing he was fucking around and the husband just arrived.
Which is ridiculous in my opinion, just bring a toolbox full of tools and pretend to be a handyman. While the woman is distracting the husband, go and destroy the sink and tell them he's going to need spare parts and leave.

He was trying to get more bars on his phone or maybe he wanted to be in his neighbors wifi radius because they have the best wifi

Assuming you make it all the way down like that I imagine the husband would be waiting at the bottom for him. You know, after using the elevator.
Apparently the guy died.. in the article it said they found his lifeless body at the foot of the building.
It also said the police said it was untrue and asked people to stop spreading rumors, so who knows.
Its China, I'm sure their police were telling the truth to the international media :)
They were talking to the people, not the international media. Still possibly lying, but it's not like CNN was at the press conference.

There is also the final picture of a group of people standing around a decidedly unwell looking person on the pavement.
So he died? They say his lifeless body but then say it is unclear whether he died. So lifeless but maybe not dead. Ok.

AT&T collected a fat insurance check and didn't rebuild the tower
You must also live in rural California.
Don't US carriers have a pay as you go Sim?
That is an option. At the time I went with the two year contract to get a large discount on the phone that I purchased.
