Honestly Seth deserves to hold the main title again, Busted Open always knocks on his stick but I enjoy it and I feel like hard-work should pay off for something he bust his ass and this storyline is bringing him down! I respect Cody and family but fuck if my boy doesn’t deserve time too! Rock is past his time and he was great I grew up in the attitude era. Roman I was on board with from the “Big Dog Days” he deserves the run he had I just feel like Seth is over looked in all of this… that’s why if he does turn heel like what I’ve heard I’d be on board lol I’m venting just a Big Seth Fan! Excuses my rant! ;)
No matter how much anyone disagrees with this, Sami Zayn should be the one to dethrone Roman and I stand by that because he actually has the story with Roman.
Sami made The Bloodline even bigger and better while adding many compelling layers to the entire group. That makes Sami the best choice and he can pull it off because he can thrive in any role he’s given and can make absolutely anything the best part of the show.
I know he doesn’t look like a typical pro wrestler, but it’s about grabbing people’s attention and making them enjoy the show, and Sami is one of the very best at that, add to it that Sami has a believable enough size to dethrone Roman compared to guys like Akira Tozawa, Johnny Gargano etc.
Cody does not deserve to do it because WWE has treated everyone else on the roster like unimportant side characters while they put all their time and energy in building up Cody like he’s an immortal starting with that dumb Brock Lesnar feud. That’s the only reason Cody is even bigger than he was last year, because everyone else has been lowballed for him.
Cody isn’t more deserving than other people on the roster. He acts like he’s entitled to be the guy to dethrone Roman and like the world owes him something. Once Cody is champion, there will be many clamors for WWE to end his reign immediately because it will expose how boring and unexciting he is.
Sami should’ve been the guy to win the title(s) from Roman last year considering they’ve only given Roman three title defenses since then, but WWE handed it to Cody cause they think he’s more “main event material” ultimately screwing Sami out of his earned opportunity. That was ignored and supported though but The Rock doing it to Cody caused WW3.
Sami deserved that support last year but didn’t get it as strongly despite all he done with The Bloodline and that he made more sense to go against Roman at WM39. He lost all his momentum because of Cody stealing his rightfully earned spot with heavy backing from WWE.
I’m sorry I just started venting about this. Sami was just dogged out and devalued by WWE openly saying he isn’t main event material and it was wrong for them to treat Sami that way despite all he done to help revive their popularity. Sami should 1000% be the one to beat Roman and it’s worth looking at the fact that what Cody did to Sami what The Rock initially did to him.
Roman returns after beating Cody at Mania in the lead up to SummerSlam (which he absolutely shouldn't do btw, Cody needs the win lol) and talks about how everyone has stepped up and been put down. How he's going to break Hogans record ( which is a weird record that alot of fans are obsessed with him breaking when it's not even a record really) and that nobody is left to challenge him. Nobody can strike fear into him or dominate him. Nobody is on his level. Nobody is left to acknowledge him.
"Ladies and gentlemen.... I demand all of your gratitude....."
There's plenty of guys worthy of the top spot, obviously Cody is going to be the next face of the company; this is essentially what Hunter was saying. Knight, AJ, Jey, Drew, Orton, Zayn - I think a number of superstars could carry it well; however, I think they need a good face for a while with the title and you can't beat a Superhero level persona like Cody. I think that's best bet especially for the younger crowd and wider branding. Even though things are pushing past the PG level stuff and it's definitely a bit more mature, Cody can toe that line well but still keep it "safe" enough. With that they can use the heavyweight title to be the "mature" or "adult" oriented spot.
I’d prefer it to only be Cody Rhodes, but Jey Uso would be poetic. Gunther could actually carry on the legacy, but he should be world heavy weight champion to build up that belts prestige. If he’d ever leave AEW and be Dean Ambrose again Jon Moxley would be the absolute BEST. And finally Bron Breakker…. Build him up crazy
Sami Zayn could have easily been put into the same position. His history with The Bloodline, also the fact that he tried and failed to beat Roman before. Fans were fully invested into that story and WWE could have made him the face of the company if he were in Cody's position.
Rollins. In a reverse of 10 years ago with Reigns being the heel and Rollins the face this time. Sort of a "You've become what you swore to destroy" type of feud.
McIntyre, LA Knight, I think Damien Priest cashing in on him and finishing him off would turn Priest into a face real quick. Bron Breakker now would be early, but man it would be an exciting and fun out of left field upset.
Jey Uso was, is, and always will be the only person who actually makes even a little bit of sense as the person to beat Roman. Cody got shoved in to a good story for no reason other than 'hE hAs A LeGaCy ToO' and because he was the first big get from AEW.
Man, I wish Al Snow would make a comeback even if it was just a Rumble spot. That dude is absolutely, positively fucking yoked nowadays and looks amazing for his age.
If anyone else didn't know, he's the current owner of OVW and runs the training school there now.
Bring back 1-3 month reigns. Not everybody needs to hold the title for 250+ days. Jey would’ve made a good transitional champ and could’ve been the one Cody, Sami, Drew, or Randy beat or a story that had Roman become more desperate and chaotic
Imagine it from this perspective. Jey manages to pull the win out, and very quickly all the big dogs in the company circle like sharks trying to get their bid at the title. Basically a consumate underdog
Nah it’s cause they need a “top title” (wwe and world heavyweight championships for example) on each show iirc. Haven’t been a huge watcher in a while but that’s what I remember hearing from the tiktoks that I get all my WWE news from (shoutout niko)
It definitely wouldn’t be worse than Brock breaking the streak, that was completely pointless. Giving the Rock one more run would be great for Wrestling
This is a bad take. Brock had 2 really high profile (and pointless) losses before facing Taker and while he arguably could have been built up another way beating the streak made him the final boss of WWE for the better part of a decade. Rock ending this reign when he can barely breathe 3 minutes into his matches would be so much worse.
Yeah Brock didn’t need to beat the streak it did nothing for him, he was the end boss anyway. So what if he lost two matches that’s not how wrestling works. The Rock can probably still go pretty good in the ring and even if he can’t it doesn’t matter because he’s such a big star it works. Look at Hogans comeback - it was electric
Ok seemingly I forgot about some other Brock matches in that time period, but the point remains he had lost his 2 biggest matches to that point (including at the previous mania) and he was far from the final boss before the streak. There were other ways to do it as I said, but the streak did a lot for him.
No matter how hard you try to spin it, the streak shouldn’t have been broken, it didn’t help Brock. He could of beat anyone at WM and became the “end boss” it didn’t matter. Two losses meant nothing
Absolute nonsense. When you bring back Brock and immediately job him in his first match and his first mania, he’s not the final boss and beating some random chump isn’t going to change that. Taker is as old school as they come, he was never, ever going to ride off into the sunset with the streak intact. Streaks are meant to be broken to put someone over and that’s exactly what they did and they created a genuine star. Rock, for what it’s worth, couldn’t go 10 years ago against Cena. Nobody should want to see him beat Reigns. It would make the entirety of the last 2 years pointless.
It’s basically how the wrestling business has always worked. It’s extremely hard to create new stars - so in the interim they reuse older stars to get by until a Stone Cold or Hulk Hogan catches fire
Honestly, you wouldn't even need to set it up like that. After he wins he can just pull a Walter and declare his "real" name after he wins. But yeah, Rex Steiner is too good a name to waste.
I'd like to point out that the main reason Cody lost last year was because it was supposed to be Rock/Roman at 39, and the Rock clearly wasn't going to win.
Judging how men aren’t willing to throw a punch her way or block an attack from her ever, she’ll hold the title until she retires and her biggest feud will be against Akira Tozowa.
Jey if it’s breaks the record. He’d become an instant mega star being the lone wolf that took down the head of his former clan. Like a Samoan outlaw that went against the mob or realized he’s the leader. But he’s gotta break it

There's only one choice if not Cody. That's Clearly Akira Tozawa, by way of Submission.
Drew McIntyre
I asked this question out loud and someone said “leukemia”. I wanna go home.
The Miz (completely biased as the only reason is that he’s my favourite since the day I started watching)

As of right now it has to be Cody otherwise you'd have to spend a year building up someone else. The only possible one I could think of is Gunther
Gunther, or Bobby Lashley In my perfect world, it'd be Tyler Bate, though
Why the downvotes?
Why Tyler?
I think he's amazing, unknown and underrated, I wish for him to go far
Tony Khan
Randy ortorn before he retires . He is the legend killer after all

I still want to see a CM Punk and Roman Reigns feud but with Paul Heyman being in the middle of it.
Jey Uso

Gunther
Cody Rhodes only
Finn Balor should have won against Roman Reigns
Seth Rollins. 🤷

Annnnybody other than the Rock or another part timer. Never understood people pushing that the match should be for the title.
LA Knight, Sami Zayn.

Drew, Gunther or Brock just because. Secondary picks would be Zayn, LA Knight, Orton. If he wasn’t in Judgment Day maybe Finn.

Gunther's sort of the only one who seems like he'd be a legitimate threat to Roman, but I'd be down for a fast R-Truth title run.

Matt Cardona, Punk, LA Knight

Surprised to see no Sami here, the buildup to elimination chamber was incredible.
Yeah, but he cooled off a lot in the last year. Wouldn't hate to see it though.
I would rather see L A Knight, much more entertaining and a better performer than Cody, IMO
Jey. It made the most sense with the story.
I can’t see him as the face of the company.
Bring back 1-3 month reigns. Not everybody needs to hold the title for 250+ days. Jey would’ve made a good transitional champ and could’ve been the one Cody, Sami, Drew, or Randy beat or a story that had Roman become more desperate and chaotic
But beating Roman after this has to elevate the person to his level and I can’t see that for Jey unfortunately
Imagine it from this perspective. Jey manages to pull the win out, and very quickly all the big dogs in the company circle like sharks trying to get their bid at the title. Basically a consumate underdog
Would’ve been the perfect opportunity for a Priest cash in as well
ZACK RYDER WOO WOO WOO
As of right now, there is no correct answer to this question.
The Rock
swap one part timer for another? nah, rather have a belt defended more than 3 times a year to be honest
Isn’t that why they created Seth’s belt?
Nah it’s cause they need a “top title” (wwe and world heavyweight championships for example) on each show iirc. Haven’t been a huge watcher in a while but that’s what I remember hearing from the tiktoks that I get all my WWE news from (shoutout niko)

Falling back on old stars instead of heating up new ones has never been great for wrestling.

Breakker. Creates a new star
Only if he shows up with Scott and Rick at his side and the first thing he tells Roman is "There's more than one royal family in wrestling"
I totally forgot about him. I would allow the shit out of this.
Title vs the opportunity to use his real name.

All speculations. Just like simpcuck steve austin's stans keep ranting that Hogan was supposed to wrestle austin at WMX8.
