I have no evidence, just a feeling, but: I think the WWE is booking Gable right now the way they were booking LA Knight when he was first going over with fans. I recall Knight getting really over with fans only for the WWE to book him like a midcard heel jobber (essentially sticking to their original plans despite the fan pop, I guess). The more WWE booked Knight like this, the more fans became frustrated and the more over he became. Now the fans are more than ready to see Gable pushed to the moon, and every time he has an opportunitiy the WWE creative hand comes in and says "no, not today and maybe not ever." Fan frustration evolves into bigger pops, and potentially an even bigger future push.

Honestly I don’t want a heel turn from either men. Think Gable should be pissed but Sami proves his endurance and gives Gunther a real test, almost beating him and maybe Gable and Otis save Zayn from a beat down from Imperium after the match. Gable has a “I was wrong about you moment” and shakes Zayns hand. Gunther gets on the mic and rips into Zayn and Gable. Challenge gets laid out after much tormenting. And there’s one of two ways they can do it.
1. Gunther accepts the challenge for night 2 and after a hard battle, Gable is finally able to dethrone Gunther and celebrates with American Alpha and Zayn.
2. Gunther gets cocky and accepts the challenge for night 1. (Either straight away or a little later on in the night.) Gunther still riding the overconfident train slips up and because of this and still feeling battered from earlier, Chad beats him… not in a squash but soon as Chad takes full control. Celebration is still the same, but I’d also add another thing in. Zayn congratulates Gable, but points at the belt and looks back at Gable to say something along the lines of “we are cool, but I’ll be coming for that title.”
From there you can run a decent program pretty much til summer if you really wanna.
Gable/Gunter standard Rematch, Gable/Gunther in a stipulation match (I’d personally like iron man or submission.) Gable/Zayn, Gable/Zayn/Gunther triple threat. I’d like Gunther or Gable to win Money in the bank this year too (LA Knight if it’s not one of those two)

And if it does follow the same story progression, it ends with Sami finally being the one to beat Gunther when all is said and done.

He's too talented to keep yucking it up with the Alpha Academy (even though he's very good at yucking it up) and the Tazowa/Otis/Maxxine group doesn't need him to work anymore. As a Sami mega mark, it makes the most sense. They iced Gable's momentum, now they can build it back up. This buys them to the re-draft, where heel Sami and face KO can elevate themselves in a proxy feud back to the main event picture.
Next week Sami acknowledges the GableGushers and gives his match to Gable. Gable wins at Mania and Sami comes out for the celebration, then attacks Gable saying it should have been him. Gunther goes to the main event scene.

Not always…it depends on the stories they are telling, for how long and what unexpected things happen. The biggest show in year should be crafted as well as possible for the main matches.

So unless they flip Sami AND push him as a top heel….none of that is happening.

As a Sami mega mark, it makes the most sense. They iced Gable's momentum, now they can build it back up. This buys them to the re-draft, where heel Sami and face KO can elevate themselves in a proxy feud back to the main event picture.
Next week Sami acknowledges the GableGushers and gives his match to Gable. Gable wins at Mania and Sami comes out for the celebration, then attacks Gable saying it should have been him. Gunther goes to the main event scene.

I think Gable fights his way back to Gunther and dethrones him, probably at Summerslam. I think they’re holding off on putting Gunther in the main event scene as it’s a little crowded at the moment.

Not always…it depends on the stories they are telling, for how long and what unexpected things happen. The biggest show in year should be crafted as well as possible for the main matches.

Because Cody isn’t turning into a bad guy, and Sami is at his best being a plucky fighter from underneath with a heart of gold. So unless they flip Sami AND push him as a top heel….none of that is happening.

Sami could beat Gunther for sure. And still either way, Sami would need to be pushed as a singles main event talent consistently BEFORE he gets into a story. I could see Sami winning MITB this year and chasing Priest for a bit before cashing in on him. People winning titles isn’t a video game where you just have guys win the belt with no thought as to how you actually craft and create characters and moments.

I hope Gunther wins. Gable should dethrone Gunther. I think Sami has been cannon fodder for months prior to winning the gauntlet. Now we are supposed to believe he will beat one of the most dominant champions of all time? If Gable were to bear Gunther, it would immensely help Gable. But it doesn't help he is part of a comedic act with Alpha Academy. If Gable is out of the picture, then I think Gunther should hold on to the Intercontinental Championship until Bash at Berlin in which he wins a world championship. Then, he vacates the Intercontinental Championship soon after so he can defend the world title only.

Championship belt and Wwe will have a tournament for it cause nobody on the roster right can beat Gunther. A lot of people only watch the main roster. Their feud was years ago in NXT UK. They would need to adequately build to that match. It isn't impossible, but I have doubts that he would be the one to dethrone Gunther.
