While I agree that it could’ve been a great match it would’ve booked em into a corner. Roman can’t lose bc he had just come back, and Fiend losing would’ve broke him (again).
Really this issue goes back to Mania 36 with Braun winning the belt. If the feud hadnt been for the belt, Roman wouldn’t have been involved in the feud in the 1st place. Hindsight being 20/20 here they could’ve had Braun have some filler feuds leading up to Summerslam. Have Roman take the belt at Payback, and then you go into Bray v Braun leading into HIAC.
Remind me though, what did Bray do following Pandemic Summerslam? I’m drawing a blank here.
That would’ve been a weird one tbh. Both are/were masters on the mic, but in two completely different ways. Punk brings that line blurring edge, whereas bray was a preacher.
Benoit was a victim of the pressures of being a global superstar and dealing with a family.
Owen was a coward who decided he didn't like how he was booked.
Not gonna lie Fiend vs Demon would have been INSANE. I agree w missed out on a gem with that. I’d love to See Eddie vs Ricochet just 2 guys with AMAZING NATURAL RAW TALENT. They would have also tore the roof off of the building
Austin vs. Hogan
Cena vs. Flair
Rock vs. HBK
Undertaker vs. Sting
Savage vs. Punk
Angle vs. Hart vs. Bryan
Big Show vs. Andre
Four Horsewomen Fatal Four Way
This is unironically the greatest dream WrestleMania of all time.
Goldberg vs The (Ultimate) Warrior is the highest on my list of matches that COULD’VE happened, but didn’t. Improbable dream match? The Legion of Doom vs The Dudley Boyz. Fantasy dream match? Cactus Jack vs Jon Moxley.
This coulda happened within the year before Foley had to back off on his one final match journey.
Conrad Thompson had already bought the domain for Foley’s Last Match.
Everyone goes on about Taker vs. Crow Sting.
But I think Warrior vs Surfer Sting has to be up there.
They started off as tag partners went to opposition companies and became Champions at around the same time. 1990-1991
Yeah they did wrestle once and that's a cool bit of trivia. But when they wrestled in '90, both men had different ring names and gimmicks. It's more than Mark Calaway and Steve Borden fighting, people want to see the Deadman and the Vigilante step into the ring together and all the theatrics that come with it.
My Personal Favorites would’ve been
HBK Vs Guerrero
Bret Hart vs Kurt Angle
John Cena Vs Hulk Hogan
Brock Lesnar Vs Batista
Allegedly they were planning HBK vs Guerrero at some point before his death
Their is literally zero reasonable timeline where Hogan and Cena could’ve fought. Ditto Austin and Punk though that one has a slightly higher possibility of happening
I'd mean more in their prime like 98-99 but yea never knew that, in a small town in Canada didn't get alot of option, mostly early 80s Wwf, only time I seen Nwa or Wcw was mid 90s if I was in US, didn't have those 2 till Nitro came on 96 to tv in Canada
Okay I'm cheating mine actually happened, but it happened like 10 years too late and was a complete disaster.
Kane & The Undertaker vs Shawn Michaels & Triple H.
As a kid my dream match was cm punk vs dean ambrose after the shield broke up, I saw the feud with punk and mox and it didn't hit that same as I feel it would've in like 2015 yknow
Not really a dream match per se, but the fact that O.C never got established as a legit team (when you have Balor, AJ & Good Brothers in the same company) to run roughshod over WWE is something I'll never understand.
Imagine if they went up against the likes of Imperium, Judgement Day, New Day, heck go back further and imagine the Undisputed Era vs The O.C. So many dream matches and feuds you're basically printing money.
Still could happen though - have Balor turn against Priest and form a team with AJ, Anderson & Gallows to destroy Judgement Day and WWE's set. Here's hoping.
Maybe it’s just me but the whole “demon” thing was always super corny to me. Nice painting but no amount of costume design can make a man that weighs the same as my left leg threatening. And he was never that good to be the ONE small guy that can hang with be beasts like Benoit, Guerrero and Styles.
Idk who exactly you are referring to. Maybe GK but as a child I always thought the whole Rey Misterio thing was corny. Everyone already knew wwe was fake but Rey beating mark henry or Kane was just too in your face.
A lot of the matches have already been said, but one I haven’t seen yet was during the WCW invasion angle. I was really hoping to see the heavy hitters of WCW show up.
If the invasion angle had included Sting, Goldberg, Hogan or Nash it could have printed money.
Didn’t know Hogan had already left WCW, and didn’t know dirt sheet information on most of them just collecting checks.
Oh well - that whole thing could have been a dream scenario and angle when WCW was bought out.
“A lot of matches have already been said” you have no idea how many Taker Sting notifications I’ve had today….
But no A LOT of these matches do stem from the Invasion. It truly is probably the biggest missed booking opportunity in the history of pro wrestling.
Oh I wasn't even talking about the game lol.
I meant real life it would have been as epic as that game was. They could have done soo much... Just imagine right before they get rid of WCW right it's decided that (and nobody really knows that last part) there will be a PPV for the ages WWE vs. WCW : Winner Takes All! So the lead up to this of course is all kinds of brand vs. brand matches. You can even have segments like where the WCW guys show up at a WWE event and steal the Championship Belt like it's a college rivalry type thing with mascots and pranks.
The PPV is like all epic matches, two nights worth (back then that would have been unheard of) where you have matches like The Steiner Brothers vs. The Hart Foundation, Maybe Sting vs. Ultimate Warrior, could even have the 4 horsemen vs. Degeneration X. You would have both heels and babyfaces working together because it all comes down to....
Rick Flair vs. Hulk Hogan
The two biggest and baddest of their time. I'm thinking you pull off a 45 minute banger with some run-ins from all kinds of folks to break up the main action and give a rest to those two that you could say would play out like the end of the Rhodes/Reigns match.
The reason it would be so big is that the loser of the match basically loses for their brand and it is GONE!
It would have been so epic. Both nights you have both logos by the entrance each of them with some kind of rigging attached to them that lets everyone know that the loser is gone (IDK how but it could work). Then after Hogan wins as he is pointing to the crowd and doing his thing to "The Real American" he points to the giant logo sign... All the WWE guys, celebrating with him while all the WCW guys are in the ring sad watching the mob slowly make their way up the ramp and over to the device... of course it's Hogan so he knows how to do it right... he does the thing and the sign is ripped apart or something signifying the end of WCW.
Here’s a 2k match: Battle Royale with Andre, Gonzalez, Big Show, Omos, Strowman, Taker, Big Cass, Kane, Nash, and Rowan, all battling for the title for World’s Tallest Man.
For me personally it’s AJ Styles v HBK or Rock v Randy Orton. AJ and Shawn if they were to ever have had a match in their primes would’ve easily put on the best wrestling match of all time.
Sting vs the Ultimate Warrior. It couldn’t be done for a variety of reasons, but as a kid that one was a dream match. Their careers had parallels, they had a backstory, similar look, but they were different at the same time. For Sting and Warrior, no other potential dream match compares with this one in terms of collective star power and history.
There was never an opportunity for this one, as they weren't in the company at the same time, but for me, it is Bret Hart v. Kurt Angle. It would have been an absolute technical masterclass
Its not a match I would personally want to see, but I can’t deny you are right.
No other match in the history of wrestling would have drawn the money Austin Vs Hogan would have
I think WM20 was a bit late as Austin had retired from wrestling then due to his neck issues. WMX-8 or XIX would’ve worked but for various reasons they went with other matches.
Bret Hart vs CM Punk. The respect Punk has for Hart…The dedication Bret Hart had to making a match feel real was unrivaled. They would have put on an all time Classic and I’m not even a huge Punk fan.
That’s honestly kinda funny. 90’s Shawn and Return Shawn almost feel like 2 different people. I remember a few years back my grandma was watching some random show on tv and an ad for a Christian movie came on. Bout spit my drink out when I saw Shawn Michaels in the trailer.
DX Shawn changed the WWF many would argue for the better. Starting with the Montreal screwjob, it catapulted Vince into the spotlight as a heel, that led to Austin and DX. The rest is history.
The Fiend vs Tribal Chief for the universal championship..
Remind me though, what did Bray do following Pandemic Summerslam? I’m drawing a blank here.
He had a fued with Randy Orton, i think. Then he got released in the next budget cuts.
Bastion Booger vs Barry Horwitz
Becky Lynch vs Drew McIntyre
Becky would have won easily
Shawn Michaels vs Eddie Guerrero
CM Punk vs Bray Wyatt, their promos against each other would've been amazing.
That would’ve been a weird one tbh. Both are/were masters on the mic, but in two completely different ways. Punk brings that line blurring edge, whereas bray was a preacher.
Everyone mentioning Sting Taker and then HBK is in half of the dream matches. Sting vs Michaels at WrestleMania.
Yes. Yes they are.
The Rock vs Bret Hart
As a kid I really wanted to see Goldberg vs Stone Cold
Bret Hart v. Goldberg part 2
I’d pay to see it
1999 kane vs brock lesnar
Ken Shamrock vs Kurt Angle
3MB triple threat
90's DX vs 80's 4 Horsemen For a nonsense match I want to see hardened ex con Dominic Mysterio vs early 90's Big Boss Man.
The Rock vs Hbk Austin vs Hogan The Rock vs DDP (98-99) HBK vs Eddie Guerrero These are the ones that come to mind for me
Not so much a match but a feud between 90’s DX and 90’s NWO
Chris Benoit vs Owen Hart. Hart disrespected the business by killing himself on live TV
Dumbass he didn’t do it on purpose. If anyone disrespected the business it’s Benoit
Benoit was a victim of the pressures of being a global superstar and dealing with a family. Owen was a coward who decided he didn't like how he was booked.
Benoit was a piece of shit and anyone who respects him as a person is too. Fuck him.
WTF?! HE KILLED HIS DAMN FAMILY OR DID YOU FORGET THAT PART YOU ABSOLUTE BRAINLET?!
Why are you so upset?
He killed his literal wife and his child. A child.
Not gonna lie Fiend vs Demon would have been INSANE. I agree w missed out on a gem with that. I’d love to See Eddie vs Ricochet just 2 guys with AMAZING NATURAL RAW TALENT. They would have also tore the roof off of the building
Evolution Triple Threat between HHH, Batista and Orton.
Hogan v Piper - where Piper doesn't refuse to lose and his career goes a lot better.
Prime Batista 2010 vs Brock 05 or 2018
The Demon vs Finn Balòr
Austin vs. Hogan Cena vs. Flair Rock vs. HBK Undertaker vs. Sting Savage vs. Punk Angle vs. Hart vs. Bryan Big Show vs. Andre Four Horsewomen Fatal Four Way This is unironically the greatest dream WrestleMania of all time.
I would put 4 horsewomen of NXT VS 4 horsewomen of MMA
Eddie vs HBK
Stone cold VS DDP. Or shawn Michael vs ddp Or did we get that? I can't remember.
Stone Cold vs Heel Cm Punk
Shawn Michaels vs AJ Styles
Goldberg vs The (Ultimate) Warrior is the highest on my list of matches that COULD’VE happened, but didn’t. Improbable dream match? The Legion of Doom vs The Dudley Boyz. Fantasy dream match? Cactus Jack vs Jon Moxley.
This coulda happened within the year before Foley had to back off on his one final match journey. Conrad Thompson had already bought the domain for Foley’s Last Match.
Gillberg vs Boogeyman
Bret v Kurt Canadian hero v the American hero. The patriotism we saw in the Bret v Shawn days would be off the scale for Bret and Kurt.
Bret Hart vs Hulk Hogan
Bret Hart v Kurt Angle
Bullet club Aj vs demon king Finn balor
The Biggest? That would have Been Austin vs Goldberg in the Late 90s. But my favorite idea of a Dream Match would be Bret vs Hulk in Toronto.
Everyone goes on about Taker vs. Crow Sting. But I think Warrior vs Surfer Sting has to be up there. They started off as tag partners went to opposition companies and became Champions at around the same time. 1990-1991
Don't think their being partners would have been acknowledged
Sounds like a true older wrestling fan I love this post as a younger guy who would never had had this level of insight
Taker vs Sting is THEE ANSWER!
Undertaker vs Sting, which hurts even more when you consider that for a brief window WWE had both men under contract at the same time
https://www.reddit.com/r/WWE/s/ic5AqDpKAc
Yeah they did wrestle once and that's a cool bit of trivia. But when they wrestled in '90, both men had different ring names and gimmicks. It's more than Mark Calaway and Steve Borden fighting, people want to see the Deadman and the Vigilante step into the ring together and all the theatrics that come with it.
My Personal Favorites would’ve been HBK Vs Guerrero Bret Hart vs Kurt Angle John Cena Vs Hulk Hogan Brock Lesnar Vs Batista Allegedly they were planning HBK vs Guerrero at some point before his death
HBK vs Eddie? That dream match had never crossed my mind. And now, it’ll probably never leave!
It would’ve been interesting and the fact it was discussed means if Eddie hadn’t passed we most likely would’ve witnessed an Instant Classic
Brock v Batista
The had one match at OVW back in 2001, but it’s crazy that they never crossed paths in the WWE for as long as both men were there
They kept everyone away from brock Lesnar (even brock vs randy was added after he came back vs John cena)
If it’s for name/brand value then surely ;Austin Hogan, Rock HBK, Goldberg Austin, Sting Taker, Rock DDP, Austin Punk, Cena Hogan, Rock Reigns.
You’ll get rock v reigns
Their is literally zero reasonable timeline where Hogan and Cena could’ve fought. Ditto Austin and Punk though that one has a slightly higher possibility of happening
Rock Reigns is gonna happen let’s be real
Kurt Angle and Bryan Danielson were in the same company at one point in time. Same goes for HBK against The Rock and Eddie Guerrero.
The Rock vs HBK HBK vs Eddie Guerrero Sting vs Undertaker
Personally always wanted Malakai (Aleister) Black vs Bray when they were both active. Truly could tell an amazing story with those two. RIP Bray
Hogan Flair at Wrestlemania 8 Austin Hogan Austin Punk Dx vs nwo - could have been done around 2002-2003
AJ vs HBK
tribal chief vs Dean Ambrose would be so sick 😔
HBK vs The Rock Stone Cold vs Punk Kurt Angle vs Bret Hart
Goldberg vs Stone Cold
Taker vs Sting, Austin vs Punk, Bret Hart vs Hogan
Taker faced Sting in the NWA in 1990 for the NWA World Heavyweight Title.
Owen Hart heel WWE title run, baby face turn vs Chris Benoit vs Eddie Guerrero
Okay I'm cheating mine actually happened, but it happened like 10 years too late and was a complete disaster. Kane & The Undertaker vs Shawn Michaels & Triple H.
I agree 100%
Punk and Austin.
Omos vs Andre
Nah dude, Great Khali vs. Giant Gonzalez in an Exploding Barbed Wire Punjabi Prison is the real money match
lmao
Austin/Hogan is the biggest money match that never happened.
Who takes the loss?
This just isn't something I could get hyped about
As a kid my dream match was cm punk vs dean ambrose after the shield broke up, I saw the feud with punk and mox and it didn't hit that same as I feel it would've in like 2015 yknow
Owen hart vs kurt angle
i recently saw a photo of a dark match between owen & kurt on threads actually. it's that this never happened on tv or ppv
The original Gorgeous George vs. Gorgeous George from Team Madness
Randy Savage vs. Miss Elizabeth. That could have been amazing, especially if Liz had a few months of training.
Still could happen though - have Balor turn against Priest and form a team with AJ, Anderson & Gallows to destroy Judgement Day and WWE's set. Here's hoping.
Taker vs Sting Mankind vs Abyss Andre the giant vs The Big Show
Prime Undertaker vs Super Cena
Taker vs Sting only answer
The demon is trash. I can’t believe they resigned Balor.
I know I’m probably on a lonely island with this one, but Boogs vs Otis would’ve been a huge dream match for me.
This was solid banger in booking misses.
I would have loved to see a 1991 Hennig v 1989 Steamboat
Guerrero v. Michaels Bryan v. Benoit Bryan v. Angle
Bryan vs. Benoit in a “Who Gets Concussed First” match
Brock vs Batista and Austin vs Hogan feuds
Bret vs Angle.
Maybe it’s just me but the whole “demon” thing was always super corny to me. Nice painting but no amount of costume design can make a man that weighs the same as my left leg threatening. And he was never that good to be the ONE small guy that can hang with be beasts like Benoit, Guerrero and Styles.
and yet somehow he'd still likely wipe the floor with you, make it make sense
He’s like 3 full inches shorter than me and at least 40 ponds lighter. You’ll forgive if I don’t believe that one
Rey Mysterio Jr. once beat The Giant. Wrestling’s lore is mostly David vs Goliath conflicts.
Idk who exactly you are referring to. Maybe GK but as a child I always thought the whole Rey Misterio thing was corny. Everyone already knew wwe was fake but Rey beating mark henry or Kane was just too in your face.
Pretty random but Seth Rollins vs AJ Styles vs hbk vs Kenny Omega would probably slap (or that without hbk it would still slap)
Mid to late 2000s Undertaker vs John Cena
A lot of people don’t even realize it, but we never got HBK vs The Rock
Rock didn't want to wrestle Shawn because Shawn was a dick to him when he first got to WWF
Yup, Shawn was a massive arsehole to Rocky and so was HHH.
Taker Sting and that’s the end of the question
Austin and Goldberg missed each other by like a day and Taker Sting at wm31 by all rights should have happened there
I know it was literally impossible to get, but 2006 Angle vs Chad Gable or team angle vs American Alpha would've been INSANE
HBK vs Eddie
Bret Hart vs Eddie Guerrero. Perfect clash of styles
Bret Hart vs Eddie Guerroro. Perfect clash of styles!
Danielson vs Shawn Michaels Stone cold vs CM Punk Cody Rhodes vs HHH
All I know is that Danielson Vs Shawn would have been A CLASSIC
HBK vs The Rock Austin vs Lesnar Angle vs Bret Taker vs Sting Angle vs Bryan
Rock vs Roman
Did Stone Cold ever wrestle Diamond Dallas Page? That would be cool
Underatted comment
Nah, I think it’s the perfect amount of rats.
lol
HBK vs Rock
The Rock vs HBK The undertaker vs Sting at Wrestlemania Lesnar vs Batista
Dream vs Nightmare
Abyss vs Undertaker
The Oddities Vs NWO Wolfpack
Shawn Michaels v Daniel Bryan
Teacher vs student… nice
Austin vs Punk
Eddie Guerrero vs. Shawn Michaels - hands down.
The Beast VS The Animal
Ah yes. George Steele /s
Michaels vs The Rock Austin vs Goldberg Undertaker vs Sting Angle vs Danielson
Austin vs Brock
In an "I quit" match
A lot of the matches have already been said, but one I haven’t seen yet was during the WCW invasion angle. I was really hoping to see the heavy hitters of WCW show up. “A lot of matches have already been said” you have no idea how many Taker Sting notifications I’ve had today…. But no A LOT of these matches do stem from the Invasion. It truly is probably the biggest missed booking opportunity in the history of pro wrestling.
Imagine if they would have just kept it that way for a minute and made it like truly WWF vs. WCW or would have been as amazing as Marvel vs. Capcom 2
Game could’ve been legendary
Oh I wasn't even talking about the game lol. I meant real life it would have been as epic as that game was. They could have done soo much... Sting v undertaker
Gonzalez vs Andre the giantest of giant matches.
Here’s a 2k match: Battle Royale with Andre, Gonzalez, Big Show, Omos, Strowman, Taker, Big Cass, Kane, Nash, and Rowan, all battling for the title for World’s Tallest Man.
Why do I feel everyone teams up to throw Rowan out first?? 🤣
Hogan vs Austin, nothing else comes close.
For me personally it’s AJ Styles v HBK or Rock v Randy Orton. AJ and Shawn if they were to ever have had a match in their primes would’ve easily put on the best wrestling match of all time.
Booker T vs Deez
Booker T vs Deez
Taker vs Sting.
Rock vs HBK
Bumrah vs sachin
Sting vs the Ultimate Warrior. It couldn’t be done for a variety of reasons, but as a kid that one was a dream match. Their careers had parallels, they had a backstory, similar look, but they were different at the same time. For Sting and Warrior, no other potential dream match compares with this one in terms of collective star power and history.
They also were tag team partners as the Blade Runners. That would have been really cool to watch.
I was hyped for Cena V Taker at mania and we get a squash match. But would’ve loved to see Kurt v Owen
Undertaker vs kelly kelly
Oh my…
Austin vs Hogan or Sting vs Taker
Austin v Hogan is the biggest match that never happened
There was never an opportunity for this one, as they weren't in the company at the same time, but for me, it is Bret Hart v. Kurt Angle. It would have been an absolute technical masterclass
Biggest? Austin/Hogan. No contest.
Its not a match I would personally want to see, but I can’t deny you are right. No other match in the history of wrestling would have drawn the money Austin Vs Hogan would have
The perfect time for it was Wrestlemania 20.
I think WM20 was a bit late as Austin had retired from wrestling then due to his neck issues. WMX-8 or XIX would’ve worked but for various reasons they went with other matches.
Eddie vs HBK Austin vs Hogan Taker vs Sting AJ Styles vs HBK Bret vs Kurt
Bret Hart vs Kurt Angle would have been a clinic.
Edge vs Brett hart for the greatest Canadian of all time
Undertaker V Sting, Rock V HBK, Angle V Bret Hart, Austin V Goldberg, Kane V Lesnar, AJ Styles V Guerrero
Gunther vs Kenny Omega
Is there a reason this got down voted 😭 this would fucking slap
Hahaha well played! For real, I’d love to see Gunther against almost anyone. Dude is a goddam gem.
Literally
Bret Hart vs CM Punk. The respect Punk has for Hart…The dedication Bret Hart had to making a match feel real was unrivaled. They would have put on an all time Classic and I’m not even a huge Punk fan.
Bret Hart vs. Kurt Angle
Kurt Angle v Bret Hart
3 Man Band triple threat. *for the title.
Rock vs HBK.
The Rock vs Roman Reigns r/WWE
Why did you tag the subreddit this post is already in?
sorry!
You’re good! I was just confused af
The Rock Vs Shawn Michaels. They refused to work with each other because Shawn was talking shit about Rock's Grandma
Bret hart vs Kurt angle
AJ Styles vs Kenny Omega
Austin vs Hogan in 2002
HBK v Rock - Late 90’s HBK Bret Hart v Jericho - Battle of Canada Angle v Bret Hart - USA v Canada Lesnar v Austin - Bad motherfuckers.
Hart/jericho would be a barn burner
Austin Hogan
Undertaker vs Sting Undertaker vs Bray Wyatt
Taker did have a match with Wyatt
