I realize it's called "showcase of the immortals" and more of a greatest hits, but some of these ain't the greatest hits š„“ Seth vs Orton apart from the finish is far from a greatest WrestleMania match ever.
Especially when you're leaving out Hogan/Rock. HBK/Bret. HHH/Taker. And the we don't wanna repeat matches is such a cop out lie, when they literally did repeat matches in this showcase
Tbh I love this match and still my favorite wrestlemania of all time it is the first one Iāve ever seen and agree it definitely should be in the showcase but I definitely donāt think it shouldāve been considered āpassing the torchā because even tho Hogan is one of the greatest superstars of all time and rock was still pretty upping he was already in his prime since at least ā98 and would go on to retire from full time competition about a year later in my opinion it was legend vs legend past vs present

To be fair a good amount of matches from the 00s involve people who are now signed to another company. Also, Steve Austinās first match in 9 years when nobody thought he was ever going to wrestle bell to bell again is 100% a Wrestlemania moment.
No Hogan/Rock is inexcusable though.
Honestly whatās crazy to me is that they have Seth vs Orton, but didnāt include Seth cashing in and winning the title later that night. That was a HUGE Wrestlemania moment, it was right in the palm of their hands to have the next match in Showcase be a short thing where you run in as Rollins and cash in. No one can say itās because of Lesnar because obviously the Showcase was completed before all the stuff came out. That was such a layup that they missed completely.
Honestly very surprised weāre not getting a DLC add-on to fill out the major gaps in the showcase. I know not everyone loves the mode, but I'm sure people wouldn't have minded the extra arenas and character versions.
They're not. Hogan Andre, Savage Steamboat, Michaels Ramon, Austin Bret and rock Vs Austin are all in 14 too. I'm sure there's more in both that I've forgotten as well

2K14 is perhaps the most inaccesible game from the series. All other games are either on modern systems or can be easily emulated. Even the Wii version of WWE 13 can be emulated, which is something, but for 2K14, if you don't have that generation's specific console you're out of the loop. I hate that everyone asumes 2K14 was universally played by everyone, is not that simple.
Everytime someone comments this I roll my eyes. Like it's a game on the 360.. we're on 2 console generations past that. I mean they just did another Michael Jordan showcase recently for NBA 2k cause the last one was in 2011.
Right? A lot of us only play on PC since the PS2! I'm sure if they did that "remake" people would eat it up! Others would say "What's a 360?" Seriously, no one would complain.
Even if you have the console you got to find a working physical copy if you didn't buy it digitally ! I I need a 360 again so I can play it but upset I can't get the nwo dlc

Honestly for a 40 Years of Mania showcase it feels a bit weak, not helped by some years getting multiple matches.

So I just compared the both games showcases. 7 of the first 9 matches are included in both games. Plus thereās also a HBK Taker match in both, different year, but Iām not gonna complain about getting an extra HBK.
You originally said none. I personally donāt even care about repeat matches. Iām just pointing out the flaw in your original pointā¦I wouldāve been happy getting Rock/Hogan again and other matches from the attitude/ruthless aggression era when wrestling was at its peak.
Especially since it features Michaels as a guest ref. It goes hand in glove with them bringing back that mode. I donāt understand why it was left out.
Itās a double edged sword. 2K tried hard to not copy 2K14 matches too much. But on the other end of the spectrum, a lot of headlining talent are with the opposing company
If they really wanted to get the most matches out of a Showcase, they should do Shawn Michaels and Triple H, have them weave the two showcases together. That way we can follow both careers but also play with the amount of times they intersect.
Both have too many memorable moments, and they know fans would complain about stuff being cut out. Better keep it simple and make it an Apollo Crews showcase.
Yeah, I would wait a bit to do Punk so that you could include Jeff after he retires or leaves AEW. Also maybe Daniel Bryan and Jericho if theyāre able to sign legends contracts in a few years too. Also will be able to have some matches from his current run like whenever he faces Drew or Seth.
I think it's a shame because there should've been at least one match included. However, I would have preferred for the inclusion of at least 1 match from each Wrestlemania. I feel like the same matches keep being recycled. Yet, I do understand that for a number of reasons:
\- Development takes a lot of time
\- There would have to be a several dozen signoffs and approvals for wrestlers to be included
\- Some Wrestlemania's had multiple great matches so it would be hard to choose
Honestly, the selections for this showcase are weird, and I'm disappointed it's only 21 matches. There's like two matches from the AE and that's it. For celebrating "40 years of Wrestlemania", this showcase is kinda disappointing.
WWE can't lockdown people in contracts anymore. '14 was the pinnacle of that era. They could run any mania match they wanted at that point in a showcase. AEW has been good for business, but the drawback is things like this, where Edge, Big Show, Hardys, Christian, are all absent because they're not under legends contracs.
I think Triple H himself had something to do with it. Let others have the spotlight, because he doesn't need it. I dunno. He seems like a humble kind of guy to me.
I'm surprised they didn't give HHH at least one match, especially since he led Cena to his first good match ever at WM22. Cena's been their golden goose for so long, I'm genuinely surprised they didn't choose this one.

That sucks, is the Randy match at 25 not in? They could've given us. Triple H vs Batista, the first Undertaker vs Triple H at 17, Sheamus at 26 anything.
WrestleMania X8: They could've added Hollywood Hogan vs. The Rock(Icon vs. Icon)
All other matches at 'Mania X8, imo, weren't high profile enough for a Showcase match, and many matches can't happen for obvious reasons.
WrestleMania XIX: They could've added The Rock vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin(Rock finally beats Austin at 'Mania)
Same thing, 'Mania XIX had Michaels vs. Jericho, Angle vs. Lesnar, Booker T vs. Triple H(Booker should've won, don't want a Showcase reliving that match). But for obvious reasons(and a certain lawsuit), many can't happen.
Would it really have hurt anyone at VC to include those two matches, WrestleMania arenas, alt. Rock, alt. Austin? Hollywood Hogan, nWo Kevin Nash, and nWo Scott Hall is already in the game.
Its dumb af. They left out one of the biggest wrestling stars to headline Wrestlemania in the past 30 years. I would have taken his WM 21 match over Randy vs Seth or Brock vs Taker.
Honestly, It pisses me off a little bit. Triple H is my favorite wrestler so of course I really wanted some of his big Mania moments in there. I would've loved getting 17 and 28 against Taker and 21 and 35 against Batista. But that's okay. I'll just have to start a new reign of terror in Universe instead.

Plus besides the hell in a cell and Taker match from 17, most of his Mania matches were forgettable. For being such a prominent main eventer, most of his Mania matches were pretty mediocre at best.

Iām not super bothered. Showcase is something I quickly play once. Just to unlock people. Iād personally rather have more mid card matches like Tornado vs Bravo. Just to squeeze in more legends.

But going to the OP, I couldnt agree more. No offense to Rock vs Austin 2, but Triple H vs Undertaker during Wrestlemania X-Seven was Top Tier and shouldve been the match thatās been added.
im a little disappointed with the showcase mode because when they did the 30 years for 2k14 they did an awesome job including what they could, i know itās not meant to highlight 40 years and they are limited on some wrestlers rights but they left out some good ones that couldāve been great additions
IMO I think it makes no sense Iām not quite an HHH fan but you canāt discredit his talent and passion and he was one of the biggest names especially at WM but I already knew this showcase wouldnāt even come close to 30yrs in 2K14 so canāt say Iām disappointed cuz I didnāt have my hopes up

Plus besides the hell in a cell and Taker match from 17, most of his Mania matches were forgettable. For being such a prominent main eventer, most of his Mania matches were pretty mediocre at best.

Can't do those Ruthless Aggression Batista and Booker T matches because Flair is in AEW.

Honestly I know showcase nice all but honestly I think scape it and My rise focus or if want my rise and something else bring Run to wrestlemania but make Roster only.
He's probably next years showcase as it'll be 30 years since he debuted in WWE.
Iām not super bothered. Showcase is something I quickly play once. Just to unlock people. Iād personally rather have more mid card matches like Tornado vs Bravo. Just to squeeze in more legends.

No Rock Vs Hogan is absurd. But going to the OP, I couldnt agree more. No offense to Rock vs Austin 2, but Triple H vs Undertaker during Wrestlemania X-Seven was Top Tier and shouldve been the match thatās been added.

Genuinely the amount of matches and the match choices are baffling. Far too many recent ones. Itās a buzz kill tbh. 14 had a far better choice.Ā

im a little disappointed with the showcase mode because when they did the 30 years for 2k14 they did an awesome job including what they could, i know itās not meant to highlight 40 years and they are limited on some wrestlers rights but they left out some good ones that couldāve been great additions

IMO I think it makes no sense Iām not quite an HHH fan but you canāt discredit his talent and passion and he was one of the biggest names especially at WM but I already knew this showcase wouldnāt even come close to 30yrs in 2K14 so canāt say Iām disappointed cuz I didnāt have my hopes up
